fredflathead
I am in the process of fitting the battery to run the Watersnake motor can I run the Garmin 4 sounder off the same battery or will it cause interference to the sounder? thanks Norm
onearmedfisho
it will cause interference. Ideally your trolling motor should have its own battery or batteries
XD351
Definitely separate battery ! I had mine all hooked to one battery and once the electric started the sounder gave a lot of trouble !
frankS
As above separate battery for electric motor. You could get a smaller 12v 24amp hour battery for the sounder this would not take up much room and would be lighter than full sized battery. Easy to recharge and easy to manage. JustJames
Your Garmin probably won't need much of a battery to run it. When I had a tinny I used a small 12V battery such as alarm systems use. If it's going to be in a tinny, you will want to strap it down securely so that the sparks stay on the inside. If you buy a spare power cable, the big plus is that you can then take battery, power lead and Garmin to somewhere comfy when you want to load GPS marks.
