faker
So work up at 4:30am and arrived at 5:50. Was fishing a rock ledge in Sydney harbour Began working squid jig on run out tide. Within 20 cast landed 2 squid and Worked my way for 500 metre around ledges only accessible on low tide. Caught nothing and went home Got first catches on my emeraldas mx 86ml which cost $375 after I sold my daiwa rz spin combo to friend whom I was teaching how to fish Edited June 16 by faker

Good way to break in the new rod Thanks, you really can feel difference between a $100 rod and a rod that sold for $475 but lowered to $375. I haven't been tempted with reels yet but I know how smooth they feel. But I stink at taking care of them due to wading.

I’ve had a feel of all the daiwa egging rods - all the way up to the stoist RT. Out of all the rods my favourite was the Stoist AGS - it had amazing feel - definitely my favourite squid rod. But you’d have to be a dedicated land based squid fisherman for that price. Out on the water you don’t need a high end specialised rod - I mainly use the bream raider rods. They have great flex for squidding. But I use high end reels - as I fish from a JetSki and standard reels won’t last more than 6 months due to the spray.

Well I wanted something a bit more high end but not break bank. Besides I can force it to be a soft plastics rod and still use it off the rocks that a 7 foot rod will struggle with. Also, I can still have decent chances against king in harbour. Our fishing circumstances are just a bit different Edited Thursday at 09:41 AM by faker
