Well it all started back in February 4th, getting up at 5 am and arriving at Hobart after catching a flight at 10.15 am, picked up a Britz 4wd camper all fitted out and ready to roll with a v8 diesel turbo, what a mashing.

Arrived at my Brothers House in Atago right on the water he’s got hes own boat ramp but unfortunately the Derwent River is polluted.

Mates come over BBQs happening and no sleep, left he’s house at 12.30am and met up with the rest of the crew

Had our Caffeine fix and drove off, what a sight the skies in Tasmania are, millions of stars in the skies and the country side wow.

Well we arrived to the start of our 4wd track and it was on, real 4wd must say I’ve always wanted to do this.post-8352-0-42266500-1392862288_thumb.jpgpost-8352-0-94712200-1392862431_thumb.jpgpost-8352-0-41897200-1392862433_thumb.jpgpost-8352-0-68618700-1392862434_thumb.jpgpost-8352-0-78497900-1392862435_thumb.jpgpost-8352-0-67888200-1392862436_thumb.jpg

Everyone kept getting bogged except meJ, then we took the wrong turn thank to one of the boys and it was a 40% 50 meter drive straight to a dead end beach, oh great, plan was for me to go up first then the rest follow, and follow they did all of them getting bogged and mua towing them out with my skinny tyres, who’s laughing now boys. Well I was the hero of the day and was shouted drinks by everyone, after setting camp and oh some creature comforts and later the Cray pots went straight out and had a wood fire a laugh and more drinks.post-8352-0-88424200-1392862967_thumb.jpgpost-8352-0-88424200-1392862967_thumb.jpgpost-8352-0-28923200-1392862977_thumb.jpg

Next day was the same and adding fish to the menu before everyone went to bed my boys went out to catch flounder and got 20, it was flounder breakfast all round with my boys doing the cooking, we then headed off for a fish in the tinnie and ended with my new record 46cm red banded morwong, 38cm Barstard trumpeter and a 4 foot Octopus caught on pilchard, hooked him one of his tentacles.

Lots of fish, Crays, Abalone a man good die eating the good stuff, Burn we did, swim we did, enjoy nature at its best we did, the weather stayed good to us until the last night packing up from 2am securing our stuff before having a quick snooze and at 6am picking up the pots for another ,lot of Cray to take home.

After cleaning up all day cooking one more time at my Brothers place with Fish, Cray’s, Octopus Abalone Ive managed to put 5 kilos I reckon

Returned the 4wd in the morning and caught the plane back Home HA! You thought that was Over, hooked the boat up to my 4wd drive and off the Jervis bay for 8 nights yeeeeeehhhhaaaaaa.

Ok here is how it went, swam every day bbq’s calamari ring and chips, king fish and chips, sashimi yummo, walked along the beach, went fishing 3 times, first times for a duck, second time late evening for 20 calamari with my boys and misses and 3rd time for three kings one bust off and a few undersize let go to fight another day,

Well got back home today 19th and back to reality but DAM I'm Happy

What a great post and awesome pics. Thank you so much for sharing.

That Occy looks big enough to scare the pants of anyone seeing one for the first time.

Love those family gathering, pure Magic!

Mrs Paikea is thinking of taking me down to Tassie for a holiday (to celebrate my getting to the ripe old age of 75 soon)been there before and loved the place. Equal to NZ as my two favourite destinations.

Thinking of either taking my 4WD across or flying and hiring a car. Looking at the cost of both at the moment.

Any Raiders done a comparison?

Cheers

Paikea
