  1. Cider is pretty straight forward, especially if you've been brewing beer. Make sure you use good juice, no pasteurisation or preservatives. Not the supermarket crap. I go to the farmers markets and buy bottles. Let them know that you want it for cider and check that there's no preservatives. Add champagne yeast. There'll be a volume suggestion on the pack. In the past I've used 40% cherry or pomegranate juice, with pretty good results. Again, preservative free. Wholefoods and the like can be a good source.
  2. Not bad smoked or grilled, like most oily fish.
  3. The area covered by the lock-out laws already exempts the second casino site, years before it's even built!
  4. It got chucked, apparently Hobart wanted it but i think it might have been scrapped. The developers of the exhibition and convention centre projects wanted it gone because it would have been in the way, and with light rail soon to be built through the CBD it was seen as redundant. Hrgh
  5. Looking forward to the posts. I'll be in Darwin in a few weeks time for work, currently trying to fit some fishing into the plan. Hrgh
  6. Echoing everyone that attended, a massive thank you to those who volunteered their time to organise, teach and feed us today. I learnt a heap, and your support for fellow fishos, beginners, novices and old hands alike, is hugely appreciated. Great to meet such a friendly bunch of fisher-folks as well. Hrgh
  7. Bugger the dollar value, a kingfish off the rocks would be too much of a trophy for me to sell. Surely it tastes even better for the effort. Awesome catch. Hrgh
  8. The northern breakwall is good for bream, either beach side of in the channel. On the south side, theres a breakwall inside the channel at Reids Reserve called Lucy's wall, produces bream and blackfish. I've found casting west calmer and easier to fish. Hrgh
  9. I don't know the area at all, so your post led me to a search. I found this on wikipedia 'Boat Harbour had a reputation as one of the most polluted beaches in Sydney'. I don't know if that is still the case? Hrgh
  10. I use circles when chasing drummer. I don't have a massive catch rate but I doubt it's because of the tackle I'm using, though I'd prefer to blame the tackle. Circle hooks certainly haven't stopped me catching drummer. Usually use size 1 of the rocks for drummer (also the occasional luderick as bycatch), but I'll go up to size 1/0 or 2/0 if chasing bream, flathead or pinkies. Hrgh

    the cloud

Nothing exists in a cloud, if you posted the photos on Fishraider then your best chance is if they are still sitting on the Fishraider server. If you can't find them under 'gallery', via your account info at the top right hand corner of the fishraider page, you could ask the moderators to have a search for you. Any info regarding dates, filenames etc would help them. Hope that helps. Hrgh
  12. I guess i'd fit into your description of 'greeny fanatic' but I also fish. Just like the majority of fishos don't fit into the littering drunken noisy catagory, I've never met a green that wants to stop rec fishing. Whoever put up the sign sounds like a douche bag local trying to reclaim public space as his own.
  13. I spotted birds at Avalon on Saturday. A few boats followed later in the arvo .
  14. Hi folks I've recently returned to Sydney, and being 'between employers' I've got a bit of time to build my fishing repertoire. One of my go-to tactics is fishing the wash off the rocks. Whilst I have some success, I'm consistantly outdone by the guys blackfishing. I know this is a common request here, and I've been through a lot of the material on this site, but would any of the luderick masters be willing to impart some expertise over the next few weeks? My availability is pretty good over the next few weeks, I'm in Sydney (redfern) but largely reliant on public transport. Cheers, Joel
  15. Good question fishyboi, I've been pondering the same thing. Does anyone know if it's worth using crab traps in the harbour, and in what areas (also landbased).
  16. Ha! In my little one man hiking tent I'll be praying for as little rain as possible. Mulloway will be second on my list. Hrgh
  17. Hey Raiders At the risk of giving away a quiet beachside camping spot close to Sydney... I'll be spending the weekend camping in the National Park around Box Head (Central Coast). Does anyone know a productive rock ledge in the area or have tips for fishing Tallow Beach? Hrgh
  18. G'day Raiders At a recent Sydney Ports community meeting, residents were told that the public access land at Molineux Point is likely to be included in the 99-year lease when the ports are sold off. I know land based fishos haven't had access to this for a little while, but if it is sold off then fat chance of getting access back again. It leaves you wondering why fishing was banned from the spot so recently. Not only that but the lookout and tourist walk, part of the Randwick Coastal walk, will also be under threat. I'm not sure what it would mean for boat access close to the wall. How far can they go selling of our public recreational space! And fishing spots! The sell off is happening through Treasury, so email Mike Baird to let him know what you think. office@treasurer.nsw.gov.au Hrgh
  19. Well done. I was checking out a few washy platforms on Friday (mainly Malabar) wishing I could get out to them this weekend. Glad to see you did and did well. Hrgh
  20. Nice fish. Good reward for the early start. Hrgh
  21. I've fished with aquabait sand worms once and caught a few undersized bream. That might not sound exciting, but they out fished the prawns I was also using. Hrgh
