    Blackies

haha nice - it is a sign i suppose. They are cute little fellas aren't they at that size. Bet the little one woulda loved it. Hopefully big schools will start popping up. I know they are starting on the central coast, just that sometimes it's too far to drive.
  9. bustof - me and my old man will be fishing the dam next thursday 28 may in dad's runabout. Will be launching there with a late 90s model hilux as the water is low and 4wd is handy there - as waynie said the ramp is very steep. Say hi if you are camping there, Cheers, Dom

    Windamere Dam

TANKN, There's some great advice from fishdrought there - mate I left home about 7 years ago, not far behind ya! Here's some of my 2 cents as my old man fishes windamere quite frequently. The colder months see the yellas move into deeper water so try those deep pockets in open water with obvious sunk trees showing their tops... If no good, try close to the shoreline as FishDrought suggested in between sunken trees that you can spot with good snags generating around them. If the area has gotten any decent rain lately ( not sure but doubt it will make much difference to the low low low level) try sticking closer to the shoreline. Areas with big structure are gona hold the cod too and troll around rocky, tree littered areas with your larger deep divers to get the bigger cod and yellas. You can try decent sized spinnerbaits for yellas and cod. Throwin med size Jackall chubbys do well too. I've even used blades in the dam and hooked yellas so take some of those up with you. The vibration is the key here sometimes gettin the fish on the fall of the first / second retrieve. Speed em up if no interest is shown, the bigger fish might be moving quicker. As suggested fish down toward the wall end if in a boat use your sounder scanning the old river bed for the deeper areas to secure a nice location. Good Luck and hope you get a nice big cod and if not some decent yellas mate.
  12. Nice... got to love the blackies - 37 is good size. I've got to go collect myself some weed soon too and get out there for a spot of blackie fishing.
  13. KGW are a great fish. My grandfather used to clean up in Adelaide, they were all he would ever target.
  14. Yeh, Cold nights = less people = great! I mainly fish at night. I'd say you have been unlucky. You should be catching fish at night if you fish the tide turns. Especially bream in cold weather and at night. The past week I'v been catching fish almost right dead centre on the high tide. Try to record your outings in a little diary kept in your tackle box. And remember some days or weeks we just go without as fishos...thats just part of the game. Cheers, Good luck
  15. They do get big and put up a fight, we used to pull loads out of the cudgegong river. In Mudgee there was a park that the river ran though known for the carp catches being left on the grassy river bank. They provided plenty of fun on light gear and great to get them out of our fresh water systems for benefit of native stocks.
  16. Used to live 20 ks from burrendong, nice yella glad to see its still fishing well. We used to fight between carp and redfin for the odd yella and cod. All good fun. From memory the frosts should be arriving by now so good luck with the big fella cods. Cheers
  17. Nice one Ray, those rocks seem nice and productive for a lot of raiders. Great to see you guys out there. Betchya those bonnies are fun, fun fighting but not cleanin' ha Cheers
  18. Nice report there... most people i'm sure will agree that being dedicated and persistent does pay off. First of many nice breambos and squid.. well done
  19. Great solo effort. Admirable, I bet the heart was racing - fatigue and anxiety on that kingy!
  20. Kiwi - Some of those were from balmain mate theres some good spots there. Get a satellite google map up and search the headlands around the harbour and you'll find suitable spots with deep water. Pay attention to the tide change and you should be lucky enough to get some. Ray - His name is tokyo and it says it all. He is a nutter (also like his owner is sometimes ahaha) Cheers guys
  21. Hi Raiders, Thought i'd post some pics of the last few weeks of a few bream i've caught on my night outings in the harbour. I've thrown a pic of a yellow tail at 32cm. Some people are talking about the bigger ones they've been catching and this fellow was the average size the other night. Unfortunately there is no picture of a good size jew though I did get busted off 2 weeks ago by a jew on my 6 pound outfit. He was almost finished and we had colour about 20 metres from the wharf and whilst I was fighting between other fisho's lines around me he was gooone. Of course he didn't take the bigger rod did he! All fish were victims of bait, either chicken, peeled prawn or yakka & caught at night. Tha jewie took a fresh piece of yaka. Yaka 32 cm thought i'd put a pic of my bird in with it too - he never leaves my shoulder. Cheers guys
  22. Mate, I have seen you mention this in the past on other posts... I'm not sure i rarely look close enough to notice any subtle differences in the bigger fish but will upload a pic tonight of my 32 cm from last night... Still, this one might be one for sherlock holmes ey!?
  23. They are very big this time of year. I got one 32 cm last night. Will post pic when i get home. Eat em (nicely done fired up) or Fillet em and Salt them for bait. :
  24. Check the "Fishing Chat " section ....in the last few pages of posts there is a topic on best Bream bait. heaps of options there. Personally, you should take a variety of bait for Bream they eat anything including things we eat like chicken and steak. If fishing landbased look for Ferry Wharfs or areas that have casting access to deep water. Fish the tide changes to maximise your results. There's plenty of good bream fishing around the harbour.
