  1. Good stuff buddy. Nothing like hooking breambo on a plastic. one of the most enjoyable arts. Such a challenge and so rewarding. Good work.
  2. Try earlier morning in the bays. Plenty on the surface but you got to beat the tailor & sometimes th ebonnies.. mix it up with slug os and poppers. Cast to the side of the big surface schools for best effect...they are definitley there Keep down rigging in the asme spots and you will be rewarding, there one day gone the next. We only mannaged 4 tailor to abotui 50 cm. Cheers
  3. Hey Prawn star we were one of the many boats out there too and got into some good ones the same day - love the boat name. too many bonnies though, one was aroun 850 massive! Well done on the PB
  4. Good work mate Headin there tomorrow, hopefully will post a similar report if i can move my arms afterwards
  5. Hi Mate If you are keen to drive to swansea try your best to match a tide change preferrably high and you should get into the sambos. I assume you are landbased. IN this case for swansea drive up pacific highway from central coast, come across the swansea bridge and hang a right at blacksmiths (will be caravan and campnig sign then follow that down toward the beach. There is a breakwall on your right. Fish off there with plastics and metals for the schools of salmon and you should be lucky enough... Cheers Dom
  6. Nice haul mate. Gonna Hit south of Newy on the wknd. Some big swells predicted this week i believe so hopefully they will be down to play on the wknd. I think i got a fair idea where u got your catch from after recent reports on the grapevine up here. Then again they are everywhere north and south of newy aat the moment! Might see ya out there, on one of those ledges Dom
  7. hey mate you are right on the money where u are being close to Mindarie. I haven't fished there but my in laws live in perth and they go there atleast 6 times every year for beach fishing jew.... thats all i really know. i'm sure u will see some locals fishing the beach there who may help u out... I've only fished redgate (down south near marg river) for salmon this easter when they were running. We also went to perth and there is bream and flatty in the swan and freemantle harbour - a few Landbased spots apparently is known for big jew... I was going to do a charter but didn't get time. If you do, try get into the macs? If u travel further north u may find some rocks that u could spin from for some pelagics. i dunno. sorry mate. Good luck and enjoy the west coast.... Dom
  8. Hey hamz been good man living in newcastle now, loving it. Hows urself ? No worries mate, they should be round for a while still. there are thousands there but fussy like i said. hope to talk soon.. Dom
  9. Hey mate, I live up here now and fish it a bit. Dora for bream. Southern ends for big winter Bream and still some good tailor about. Had an all nighter for jew 2 wks ago for nothing but thats me trying... never lucky on that part! Trevs be around but havent caught or heard of any Flatties are quiet Plenty of salmon at salts bay. use white soft plastics -they are fussy and watch the boat traffic - and be careful if u boat in there as the fish are active all round the bay and can be eaily spooked... Good luck
  10. Yeah turned out pretty nice after the morning shower... and Pete - there weren't too many boats maybe a dozen at any given time. i drove past a couple weeks ago and there would have been about 40 boats there... crazy and disrespectufl. SOme boaties just drive straight through the grounds that the fish are predominantly working for that period with no respect full steam....having said that there's plenty of salmon for everyone in salts bay!!
  11. Those smelly pike are lure destroyers!!!!!!!!! other than bate...they aren't good for anything!! sounds like a good day out though, was awesome on the water up swansea after a morning shower
  12. Quick report as haven't posted reports for ages but have been doing a lot of fishing since moving to Newcastle a fe months ago... Today I picked up 12 salmon across 5 hours fishing salts bay - swansea. All on 3 or 4 inch clear gulp minnows & i was fishign 6 lb, so much fun No pics, sorry as all these babies went back in the drink and didn't take a camera. There were a few biggens around today and i've got some sore arms right now. The biggest predicted to be about 4kg. Good to see a fella's gettin into em today as well Cheers Dom
  13. Big Barra season in Cairns is june - july maybe a bit longer i dunno, but i've got mine in June - thats when the season opens and i think Darwin will be the same. I am assuming there would be some good operators up there, sorry i don't have any to recommend but i suggest you chase some jewfish up there if you get the chance as well ...if a charter offers it.. Have fun Cheers Dom
  14. Slinky, I was getting that vibe just from a quick net search!! Ah dear, Actually if you could send us the details of the estaury operator that would be swell.. If you're around i'm planning to fish on 10 July, hopefully as long as physically possible...! Cheers mate
  15. Hi Guys, Mrs is in europe - lucky one! So i'm thinking of getting a cheap jetstar flight up the gold coast and doing an offshore charter. Anyone happen to have any recommendations? Prob wanting to get some cobs if they're reound & snapper etc Please PM Me to keep within site regulations. Thanks in advance. Dom
  16. Well done mate Not bad spot there. watch the swell as it can get a bit hairy at times. I picked up a dozen decent tailor there a couple weeks ago
  17. Nice on Jeff Been scoring a fair few nice flatties on plastics in IC of late as well. Haven't tempted any bream with my SX40 in white though. Might see you round there one day landbased. Dom
  18. I am assuming you are landbased try heading down to pier 2 on the run in tide - will bring warmer water through and hopefully if you put in the hours some surface action they are there one day and gone the next second!!!!!!!!
  19. evilborris: - I mix it up. usually have a couple of rods set with diff styles. This one was drifting just like that and he hit it about 15 seconds after the cast. Cheers, Dom
  20. Hamz- there was a nice patch of warmth there at some stage, until the lightning started. Groper - The Mrs was screaming, nothing a bit of disinfectant can't fix.
  21. Hi guys, I hit a couple of different landbased locations both Sunday and today. Sunday scored a bream to 32cm Today scored these at a new spot i've snooped out. All are west of the harbour bridge. I've heard of a few captures of decent sized kings around the balmain area hence my endeavour to target them today. Got the king who went 66cm on the 4 th cast to a fresh cube of Bonito. He slammed it down and ran. Stood him up with Size 7 Suicide Octopus hook, 30 lb leader, 15 lb main. took me about 10 mins to get him in close enough as i was solo off a high rack platform and managed to get him nice an close after i scrambled down lower- for a safe landing. The trevs came as well. I fished the low. First 2 hours before and after the tide change. Cheers. Dom the others...
  22. James, Good to see you've managed to get out there. Every long weknd brings rain - well atleast it feels that way! I was at the pier at the end of Louisa Road today pm. Also had a big run, pulled hook. Also got quite cold so left for the day. Definitely agree the jewies are on the cards in the area. Good kingies around balmain at the moment so i've heard... some guys gettin into them the last few weeks. Looks as though the rain has set in for tonight at least. But if tomorrow is ok, i'll pop down and say hi. Cheers Dom
  23. Hi Raiders, long time since i've posted. Hit one of the harbour jetties Saturday for a pm session on the tide change, cleaned up 2 trevally 2 flounder and 5 jackets. No pics this time round sorry folks. happy fishing Dom

    Botany Bay

Hi guys, Will be fishing botany bay this weekend for the first time ... I normally fish the harbour.. Have read some topics in search of some locations noticing the runway to be good and the oil areas off kurnell. Does anyone wish to offer some tips on bait grounds and productive areas? Thinking to try for yakkas at any markers as i would in the harbour and to suss out areas for squid. Thanks for your help guys Dom
