  1. I reckon he got the hot chocolates on a plastic!
  2. Hi All I have registered for the National Fishing Challenge in support of Prostate Cancer Foundation on 19 April 2009. I don't have a boat and would like to know if anyone has a spot on their boat for that day - I am very happy to chip in for fuel, food, bait etc., and will travel to pretty much any location to meet up with you, but am not all that familiar with boats so really couldn't assist with any of the technical stuff!! (Best for your own personal safety and that of the boat!!) If anyone is heading out on 19 April and could accommodate, then I would be most appreciative. Regards Mike
  3. Hi All I have now registered for this great event - been a while since I have posted on here, but been a member for a few years. I would be really keen to get out on a boat if anyone has a spot available?? Thanks and looking forward to a fun day Mike
  4. Hi Billy Sorry I coudn't make it today ... looked like good conditions ... how did you go? Mike
  5. Thanks Grant ... I really appreciate the thought. Lately I have really been living up to my name, so I just hope that I can turn that around this year!! Regards Mike
  6. Thanks mate ... will give it a try over the next week or so and let you know how it goes.
  7. Hi All Can anyone suggest any good land based fishing spots in the Pittwater area (either bait or SP's)??? I've read the article about Pittwater but was wondering if anyone has had any success in certain spots recently. Thanks Mike
  8. Hi All I'm keen for a trip Pittwater way and was wondering if anyone can suggest locations for throwing SP's land based? Thanks in advance Mike
  9. I've been getting plenty at Mona Vale recently (big suckers too - they take 2 hands to pull out sometimes and reach a metre in length) ... used to go to Narrabeen but the sand flats have moved since they dredged Narrabeen Lake and dumped it there. It's now too steep (not enough run off) and really hard to get them there. Mike
  10. Hope you have a speedy recovery Pete ... no doubt the docs will tell you "don't do anything strenuous for a while" ... well, hello ... that means some leisurely , prescribed by the doctor!! How good is that! Bugger of a way to get a "fishing prescription", but take the good with the bad mate. All the best mate Mike
  11. Thanks mate ... really appreciate the pointers you gave me. I was pissed when I dropped the 50cm model ... dumb!! Anyway, it was just good to get the hookup. Catch you soon for another session. Mike
  12. Sounds good mate ... I've got a pretty clean calendar this week!! And the forecast looks good too. Look forward to hearing from you. Mike
  13. Thanks Pete Yep, a lesson well learnt!! Maybe we can catch up for a session together some time ... I live at Dee Why and can get out during the week if you're up for it. Cheers Mike
  14. Hi All I am pretty new to using soft plastics, and decided to go and practice in Deep Creek at Narrabeen Lake this afternoon. 3rd cast I was on, and as it got closer I could see it was a nice flatty of about 50cm ... in my excitement, I lifted the rod, the fish jumped out of the water, shook it's head, and said bye bye to my SP!!! Bugger!! Stayed on for another hour or two and walked up and down the creek (near the entrance) for just one more flatty of 35cm. These SP things really work!! I'm hooked!! Mike
  15. Pardon my ignorance Tom, but where is ftb??? Mike
  16. Hi Billy Thanks for a good day ... too bad the fish didn't co-operate!! I'm glad you got your first worm and I am happy that I could teach you the art!! Look forward to another outing soon Mike PS Will definitely have a longer chat next time Wayne Cheers Mike
  17. Hi there MrChipsnSalad I think I was one of the guys you spoke to this morning ... we had a go for a little while and then made a move to Narra Lake for zip also. There just seemed to be nothing around today. Nice to meet a fellow raider. Regards Mike
  18. It certainly looked liked like a lot of the people there were "visitors" to the area. Never mind ... as long as they keep it clean and friendly then I don't have a problem. The holidays are almost over and kids back to school so it should get a lot quieter ... especially mid week. Mike
  19. Sure was Ross ... wouldn't have minded if I didn;t catch anything! Mike
  20. Went for a fish at Narrabeen Lake (a.k.a. Pitt Street) this afternoon. Went and caught myself some beachworms from Narrabeen Beach this morning, and fished from 4pm until 9pm for 1 whiting (29cms) and 1 bream (27 cms). Caught another 3 whiting at around 20-22 cms (returned) and the usual 10 or so small bream and silver biddies. A nice afternoon and a couple of fish for dinner!! Sorry, no pics. Cheers Mike
  21. Hi All I am planning to go get some beachworms this morning (at Narra Beach) and then on a spot of fishing at Narra Lake later this afternoon. Is anyone else going and keen to meet up?? Mike
  22. Hi Guys I was there too (probably about the same time - 6pm - 8pm) but on the other side of the bridge where everyone swims. Once a few of the families went home it thinned out and the fishos came in force!! For me it was 2 legal whiting - first cast a 34cm and then a 31cm about 20 minutes later (sorry, no pics - already consumed!!). Fresh caught beach worms was the go. The was getting bored and cold so it was time to go with plenty of bait still leftover, so might try again Sat morning or evening. The previous day I also caught 4 whiting from 28cm to 35cm in length, so as Pete says, the lake is firing at the moment for whiting. Cheers Mike
  23. Hi Mark I live at Dee Why and have just come back from getting some beach worms on Narrabeen Beach - straight down from the little car park on the right just north of the fire station (across the road from the servo). There are heaps there, but it takes a little time (I am not the best at it!!). Haven't tried at Dee Why Beach. Cheers Mike
  24. Fishinboy ... where do you live? If you are on or near the northern beaches then I could show you?? Like johblw said, it is an artform that takes good technique and a lot of practice!! Cheers Mike
  25. Hi All I am thinking about going for a fish at Dee Why or Narrabeen Beach late this afternoon (as long as the wind doesn't get up too much!) Anyone interested in joining me??? I know the tide's not right, but the is away so gotta take any chance I can!! Mike
