  6. Great !! thanks guys i 'm glad i removed them , just one more thing that needed fixing from the previous owner .it was a long list , he used to drag it around sydney with a little BMW, with no trailer brakes the boat weighs more than double the car, the swivel tow arm was almost worn through its pivot bolt .trailer lights didn't work. bait well pump didn't work , radio not working. . thankfully we have now fixed everything and had a full service on the motor ($$ouch). touch wood thats the lot for awhile LOL Cheers all Snr
  7. Hi John. did it make alot of difference in retrieving, its aheavy boat and would be too hard to winch up all the way . cheers snr
  8. Hi all. Our 2002 Trophy has drive on trailer function (2 skids), however we broke one skid during a windy retrieve, snapped in the middle. these skids are carpet covered wooden planks . the previous owner had fitted plastic strips to the top of the skids to assist in easier retieves. is this a normal thing to do, has anyone else done this?? My concern is that these plastic skids appear to rub hard on the gelcoat and i fear that the constant rubbing will wear away the gelcoat after a long period of time.there is evidence of this along with a white powdery effect where the glass meets the plastic. anyway i have replaced both skids with just carpet covering (marine grade).we will have to wait till the next retrieve to see how much harder it is to do. i have retained the plastic strips and can refit easily if neccesary. any ideas guys. cheers snr
  9. Hey all. Leaving friday arvo heading off to Ulludulla again for this weekend ( 2 days of non stop fishing just us 3 blokes) friday night may be deadly , has been 3 weeks since we fished and ive got the jitters LOL!! The plan this weekend is to get back out to the shelfe and hopefully find some bluefin!! last time we passed the shelf the sea was like a washing machine .so we didn't hang around for long. we are also aiming to get back to north head of JB for some close in cliff fishing !!we have just fitted a downrigger to the TROPHY and are keen to get the trolled livies down deep where the big kings hide out!! plus there were some good reds and mowies there last time we got there .who knows its not far over to the banks !!might do a bit of trolling out there !!yeah i know its only fuel!!! now just to keep the fingers crossed that the weather hold out for a few more days. hopefully a big report will be forthcoming on monday!!!! cheers snr

  12. Hi Guys, two Rays went out from ulladulla 6am in sloppy conditions , trolled around all the way up to sussex and out to 100 meters , we had only one hit , which gave us heavy weight but no fight, and hooks pulled out after about one minute done a little bottom bouncing close inshore for only one big jacket (yes doing my share to get rid of them) but they do taste nice!! My question is, we are heading down again this weekend for both days (yahoooo!!!), can anyone give us a few pointers for some snapper marks out in 30-60 meters. pm me if you don't want to tell too many people !! this area is new to us so need a little help . Also waiting for our results from the MROCP , anyone got any news yet?? cheers snr
  13. Hi , What a great read , it must have been great to be able to fight one fish for 4.5 hours, i don't think i could hold out for that long when it happens!!I have read every part of your site and regularly go back to refresh the brain, theres lots of good info in there.hopefully we will catch you on the water one day . cheers Ray Snr
  14. Hi Everyone, i have just joined up because of the more local (sydney) aspect of this site , have had a good look around and like what i see , freindly atmosphere being of most importance , and helpfull advise for the people that need it.(like Me) My son and i have just purchased our first boat and have very much to learn , our aim is for regular close inshore sport fishing, and a little bottom bouncing and irregular outer expeditions (shelf) as we develop the correct skills , mostly will launch from Billambi, our vessel "pentastar"is a 2005 Bayliner Trophy 2002 walkaround with single 175 mercury . looking forward to participating on here on a regular basis! cheers all Snr
