  1. Hey mate, nice catch! What baits were you using btw? Thanks Joe
  2. I launched today from Macquarie Grove Rd. A bit steep but manageable with the trolley. No fish/1nibble. I hit a dam not far from the launch site and could not go further. On further investigation on google maps there looks to be a lot of dams every 5kms or so. Because of the dams would it be better to fish down river? Have any bass been caught this far upriver? Thanks i'll check out the Belgenny ramp some time too. Thanks Joe
  3. Thanks man, I scouted the same spot on google maps but wasn't sure if the terrain was suitable. I'll give it a go tomorrow! Cheers.
  4. Hi everyone, I've recently moved to Narellan and want to check out the Nepean river tomorrow on my hobie outback. Any advice on launching spots nearby? I'm not very familiar with the area yet. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Joe
  5. "colours like blue/olive are more prone to being 'bumped' by large marine animals (sharks)." - I wish I thought about that before I got my olive hobie... I got the outback which is i think 32kg without gear. Originally using the Rack and roll on a coralla sedan to load/unload but then got the thule hullavator which is a side lifter to save my back. It doesn't fit perfectly as the outback is quite wide (so it would be good to check width prior) but as long as you strap it down correctly it does the job, particularly if you're loading solo and finding it difficult.

    Georges River

Hi Bob, Thanks for the tip! Will give them a go when i'm there next time. cheers, Joe
  7. Hi everyone, Thought I'd post up my short trip today. Fortunate to have the day off work but couldn't get myself out of bed early. Decided to go to the georges for a flick; launched the yak from revesby at around 12pm. Made my way downriver with the runout tide. Targetted the menai bridge pylons, the mouth to salt and pan creek and the rocky shoreline in between. Fishing with SPs, some hard bodies and vibe. Managed a feed. Got some nice bream between 27 - 35cm and a pike. Also got an undersize flatty and jewie. The Sps did most of the damage, particularly the prawn. Got a couple undersized breambos on the hard bodies. On a side note, are you allowed to pump for nippers just east of the boat ramp? I noticed what looked like nipper holes covering the flats at low tide. Cheers, Joe
  8. I camped out at Tony's Point Island (Lani's) late november and waded in to fish the flats on the southern side with soft plastics and some spinners. Was very productive for whiting and bream, good size and well conditioned. Also got out on my hobie to fish the oyster leases which was productive too for bream. I only wish my break was longer. I find wallis lake is a very nice system to fish.
  9. Hi everyone, just thought I'd pop a post on here about my trip today in the George's. Recently purchased a kayak and this was my second trip (first time fishing in it). Got to lambeth reserve around 6-6:30am and it really started to pour. Made the decision to go anyway, since I had already offloaded the kayak. It ended up being a good day. I fished with sps mainly around the mouth to mills creek and just past salt and pan creek. Hooked onto around 8 flathead, mostly undersize; got one at 40cm and lost another good one at the kayak. Also managed to land a 33cm bream and some others which were still babies. The shrimp soft plastic did the most damage today although I managed hook ups with crabby and bloodworm. When I was using a pumkinseed mullet I also hooked onto something bigger that was pulling drag. Alas my drag was set too tight and believe it or not, the hook bent and the fish got away. Perhaps it was a jewie. I found out the jigheads I was using are quite soft and pliable. Still trying to coordinate myself so drifting and casting is comfortable, it's a shame there's no reverse peddle haha. Also, what soft plastics does everyone find works best for whiting? Sorry no photos, my phone got drenched in the rain and is still drying. cheers, Joe
  10. Thanks for the tips fellas, I think I'll go with cutting the throat and then into ice, may try stunning them first and see how i go. Not sure if I'd trust myself with spiking them at this point.
  11. Hey everyone, Just wondering how everyone dispatches their catch? What are the easiest and most acceptable methods? I've read blunt trauma to the head, spiking, slurry, bleeding out. But i was thinking is this applicable to all species? Would it work for a ray? shark? What I normally do, which may not be best practice, is slurry than bleed. Any tips would be really helpful Cheers Joe

    Kioloa

Hi, i'm spending two days down at kioloa beach holiday park next week, any tips on how to fish the beach? Are there particular baits i should use or specific species i should be targetting? I've only been down there once, a long time ago, maybe a good 10-15 years ago. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Joe
