  1. Thanks Krause for organising the get together. It was nice to meet everyone. I'm sure next time will be more successful! I need to bring more socks though..
  2. Just finished work. Pretty knackered. Ill probably delay launch till 1pm with everybody else otherwise you'll see me in a camo hobie with a light blue esky. See everyone out there Joe
  3. Will do. Ive just set up my trolley system to allow for depth adjustment on the go (ive got 30metres of rope) and for quick release with a buoy if i need to detach to chase a fish/untangle or for safety reasons. It can probably use some refining so itll be good to see everyones setup. Ill prob launch around 9am. See everybody out there! Joe
  4. Thanks Henry. I'll bring leftover pilchard for berley as well. Cheers Joe
  5. Just bought an anchor (normally I would just pedal to keep myself stationary but doing that for a couple hours might be a tad too long). What is the depth like in waratah bay? Also I bought a block of pilchard I'm happy to split with someone as I'm pretty sure i'm not going to finish it. My bait freezer is filled with leftover pilchard (for berley) as it is. Cheers Joe
  6. Don't want to jinx anything, but I finally have a weekend off work that coincides with a FR outing. I'm pretty sure i'm in too. Where exactly are you launching from at bobbin head? off the jetty? Is everyone still going if it rains? Also keen for a morning start but happy to stay late if the weather holds out.
  7. I have quite a few work commitments so don't think i can make the dates above but was planning on an outing on the 16th. Odd day off but if anyone else is wanting to go for a fish let me know! I fish anywhere between hawkesbury to windang. Also have a spare hobie outback but cannot fit both kayaks on my set of roof racks. Cheers, Joe
  8. Hi mate, i normally just drive along the beach until i find a good long and close gutter somewhere quiet and away from everyone else, which can be hard as it gets packed at times! Good luck.
  9. This report is long overdue and just thought i'd combine 2 trips. One to stockton's beach and Forster. About a month ago went up to Stocktons for an overnight beach fishing session. Started in the late arvo, found a decent gutter and setup for the night. Unfortunately it was a pretty miserable night with both thunder and wind. Spent half the night in the car. Aiming for tailor and salmon on ganged pilchard and 2 rods out on paternoster rig and whole freshly caught squid for the elusive mulloway. Managed 4 tailor all around the 40-45cm mark and was plagued by stingrays for the rest of the night. Nothing was tempted by the squid except for pickers. The Forster trip was about a few weeks ago. Normally camp but due to the rain i treated myself to a cabin. Spent a few days there with the hobie targeting blue swimmers with a crab trap and bream whiting and flathead with soft plastics. There were plenty of crabs around. With me quickly reaching the bag limit on both nights and using just a single trap. Most were around 8cm, so certainly not the largest ive gotten around lake wallis. Because of the wind i quickly gave up on the hobie and reaching my bag and possession limits for crabs i focused the rest of the trip on landbased/wading the shallows in knee depth water for bream whiting and flathead. I was using 6lb braid to 8lb mono and a simple prawn soft plastic. The first day I lost so many fish trying to get them into the bloody keeper bag because i had forgotten the lip grips. In the end managed a feed of bream around 30 -32cm, whiting between 32 - 38 and a few flathead between 42 - 46cm. So despite the weather, it was still an enjoyable trip. Thanks Joe
  10. Fishraider has my support. More than happy to pay a subscribing fee. Good job fellas!
  11. Gabe is one of the most generous fisherman I've ever met. He was always passionate and keen to teach. A great mentor. He will be missed.
  12. Hi everyone, I'm taking a friend out fishing on the kayak to introduce him to the ways of soft plastics and lures. We will be launching from the river road george's river ramp at around 530am on Friday. Mostly targeting bread and butter species like bream and flathead. Feel free to join us. Cheers, Joe
  13. Can't make it either. Foreshore would probably be your best bet. Otherwise the cooks river kyeemagh would also be an option. I'd suggest also trying the second runway particularly on the runout. I have been having some good results there recently for trevally.
  14. Count me in. I fish botany bay fairly frequently. Mostly in the boat but occasionally in the Yak. I mostly launch at Kurnell close to the corner at Prince charles parade and captain cook drive as it is closer to squid grounds and fairly central. There's a a nice quiet bay there to launch from. It certainly helps to have a good trolley due to a short area of soft sand. There's generally plenty of streetside parking. Otherwise Bonna point boat ramp is a very nice area. Has heaps of parking and is an easy launch but a bit further away depending on the target species. I have also launched at foreshore and at the cooks river depending on what area I want to target. All free parking. I have avoided yarra due to the parking haha. I actually went out on the boat not too long ago and we got into quite a few 38 - 40cm trevally, tailor around the 34cm mark and lots of rat kingfish around 55cm. So the fish are there!
  15. Good effort from all! Sad I missed out. Looking forward to the botany bay excursion as I don't live too far away! Cheers Joe
  16. Hey Lungfai, finally managed to get the hobie out with the 180 on the george's river today for a trial run. The water was very calm and unfortunately I didn't take any video but I can say the drive is equivocal to the older drive except it goes in reverse, so no surprises there. I put it through the paces and achieved comparable speeds. Reverse function is very easy to toggle. Overall I am quite happy with it and of course the new yak. As a side note, the rhino t-load has been somewhat of a struggle getting used to compared to the hullavator but hopefully I will get down a better technique without damaging my triton!
  17. Absolute cracker. Congrats mate. Fish of a lifetime!! Can I ask what bait were you using and rig? I'm actually heading up the mid north coast for an overnight session this weekend, hopefully I can replicate your success!! Cheers Joe
  18. I would have loved to come but don't think i'll be able to make it since i'll be coming back from an overnight fishing session up at stocktons. Maybe next time. Have fun everyone!
  19. Hi papafish, crabs were bycatch while fishing at the runways. Not intentional at all haha although i have caught them on line there on a few different occasions. Thanks mate. We would think after the first few times we would learn from our mistakes. Guess not haha. Im going to respool that reel now. Thanks Welster. Thats a good tip. Might have to give it a go next time.
  20. Hi everyone, Haven't posted in a while due to work the past year. This is a little late as well, but went fishing out on the boat in Botany on Thursday. Launched at around 6am at low tide and went to get some bait. Couldn't get any yellowtail so went for squid instead at yarra bay and kurnell. Managed 6 with one being quite large. Saw lots of surface action. Tried for a couple hours with lures and trolling and only managed to tempt a 56cm kingfish on a soft vibe that was promptly released. Looks like they are everywhere at the moment but none of legal size. Parked at the runways for the last hour of the run-in and an hour of the run-out. Was targetting trevally as they have been at a better size recently and out in numbers. Was cubing for trevally on a jighead and left live squid bait out on a single hook paternoster rig for something larger. Managed 4 trevally around 33 - 38cm and a bream at 28cm. 30 minutes before the change of tide the live squid rod goes off and drag is being pulled quickly. The hooks were set and some headshakes could be felt but the line snapped after only 10seconds or so at the mainline. It's well overdue for changing but I have been lazy...and unfortunately that cost me the fish. As a consolation we were able to bring in a couple blue swimmers off the line and lost a few at the boat that we couldn't scoop up. One time there was actually two blue swimmers hanging off a small cube of pilchard! Buggers would not let go even when in the boat. Overall a slow productive day. Thanks Joe
  21. Thanks Lungfai, have sent you a pm.
  22. Is this what you are referring too? Do you think this works well for utes? The videos always make it look easy... I just got a triton and must say side loading has been troublesome given the height. Thanks Joe
  23. I can't remember the exact price but it was somewhere around $1500. I have PMed you lungfai and savit the dealer details. From memory they said it would be available early 2017 around March. Cheers Joe
