  1. Freshly caught ,bled & on ice .If you like sushimi they are the essense of japanese cooking . Cut out the blood line & with fillet knife cut up into thin pieces. With wasabi they & pickled ginger I would rate them better then king sushimi. If you want to cook dont freeze & i only use fresh stripey into cubes onto skewers onto the BBQ & dont over cook or they go tough & rubbery. A nice yogurt ,cucumber & garlic dipping sauce . They taste good .Enjoy !Hornets

  2. They are top knotch as sushimi. My son missed his first yesterday . I had the taste in my mouth before he had got it boatside . The kids love them raw with lemon juice.

Looks like they are coming in finally . I hope they come in good numbers this year as last was a bit quiet.

  3. Hey Kris ,

Top effort of late.I was out with the missus & litlle rats yesterday . Didnt stay inside for long as got out at 800 am . Yakkas werent hungry at usual spot . Went out to the fad & peak for Zip . On the way back the oldest got onto his frist stripey which was interesting . Wish that I stuck outside the heads . I'm hopefully out next weekend with DR at hand & kings behind . You might want to think of leaving afew out there for us novices. :biggrinthumb::clapping:

  4. That would have to be close to record Bonito there. Great for sushimi ,plenty of flesh . Cant wait for the weekend of fishing if the tuna are coming in anything could happen out there after what people have caught this last week of fishing .

  5. Have a look at Mackay ,Dunbier for a couple , but my idea is that my dunbier has a cradle at the back with rollers & it centres the boat than all you do is excellerate up onto the trailer . When launching you undo it & it rolls off .

  6. I have a 530f signature which when I brought it didnt have a good trailer & with the wife put a nice hole in the front , so as soon as I got the next tax cheque I invested in a Dunbier drive on trailer which I did the homework on . It has a cradle that the front is guided by ,then you drive the boat up onto the trailer keeping it gear when you reach the end & I reach over the front & hook on the front . To launch I start the boat & put it into gear , lean over the front & undo , then put it into neutral & she rolls off . The main thing is the ramp , that you know it well & know your wind & how it affects that ramp . Hope it helps ,& look at other people so you know what not to do .

  7. My next boat is looking like the 543f . It is the cabin version . I have a 530f for the first boat & I love the size of this boat for all

I like to do & handle solo. If you have a wife & kids controlling you like me her input will help make your mind up . The cabin is good as it has porta potty . my wife likes to escape the sun sometimes & read when we are out fishing so that helped with the choice of the 530f. I love the hull design of the signature.Mine is the old shape but it cuts through swell great. I didnt have the money for the newer shape when i first brought but Am looking forward to having the money in the next year to upgrade to my dream boat . What size motor would you like for it . 4 or 2 stroke , that is a question that I still cant decide on . That being an optimax 2stroke only . Have fun looking as that to me is half the fun of a new toy . Hornets

  8. Got out in the rain at 430.straight to top up with yakkers. Got to Cape Banks & started passes . First one rat aboard ,things look good then backover the same mark again. Another 620 .As long as they are there we can ungrade . Next a bonnie . Things then closed up so we trolled some minnows to get a few more Bonnies . Got a couple more bonnies up near little bay . On the way back past cape we DR back inside to endeavour point for zip . Hit Mol Point for no reason than to get rid of burley .[ i dont know why but I just dont like that place to fish] . So headed out off a reef off Bare Island & floated a couple of livies for one rat which was good to know they go there as there is always yakkers there. A nice 330 snapper which the wife will enjoy rather than bonito for dinner . So all in all not a bad way to spend one of the last of the days of the holidays with a mate wetting a line . :1fishing1:

  9. Good feed of fish there. I cant wat for the temp to get up in a bit closer as I cant get out much past second FAD & I dont think that catch would have been that close in according to SST chart at the moment . Top effort considering the wind & slop out there .

  10. Kris, That is a top fish for the bay . It must have been a shock to have it taken off the top .It must have been stalking you . Did you get it on the Stella. It isnt that deep in some of that area where I saw you . Did it rip much line off? As I said the other day my kids love to catch Yakkas so giving some to you ment they could catch some more . Nice to chat & will see you out there. Adam

  11. Most of the time I use bibbed minnows for bonito just outside the bay or skirts outside for stripies. In the bay at the moment there is a lot of small bait fish about so small metal lures & look around for fish busting up the surface is a good way of finding them .

  12. Shaggytrevally,

Do you burley with some bread to get them biting . Then in my burley bucket I use on a rope I give it a pull then follow the trail with the bait jig . They always get on then . Find a spot that has kelp & rock is what I do . Get there early as they go quiet sometimes later. Ihope this helps with yakkas. If only Squid was as easy . It is hard to spend the time hunting for squid with impatient kids nipping at your heels & snagging every second cast, but they will no doubt out fish there old man soon for squid .

  13. Top stuff, At least I can say that's as close as I have come to a 920 specimen . Cant wait to see the big fellow . No problem for the yakkas as the kids like that part of the day collecting, especially when the burley & fish were already there. We topped up our stockpile in 10mins . See you out there. Adam

  14. Well, the weather finally came good enough to get the boys out for a day at the bay . Headed for livies first which they love to catch . Saw another guy close by and turns out to be a fellow raider. Hi Chriso . How did you end up . We went outside at 830 straight to Cape Banks where things looked great with little wind & a bit of swell breaking we got a double hook up of bonitos to start with in 50m . Things then slowed on the bonito so the DR was let loose . Havent had many successful hook ups of late . On the first pass on the north drop off it goes off & the boys couldnt believe it . We had a king but it turned out to be 640 mm . The boys were gutted to find after the mammoth fight we had to return it . We didnt get anymore there & they were restless so we made our way back inside & promised a snorkeling trip to get them out via the cans . Within 30m we were getting hit . The little king were smashing the DR . We lost 6 yakkas with no hook ups . I put the smallest one on one & deployed. We made it around to the northwest can when for the first time I could really see a school of kings on my little hummingbird . It was a big school. The next thing you know one of the boys is fighting hard with aking & isnt he loving it . Again it was small , 620 this one but all in all a great day with a snorkel at Yarra bay to find someone over the break had what looks like to be a blow up pool that had been ripped & they just let it sink . I was going to try & pull it up but it was a good 3-4m accross & about 5m deep to it . I didnt want to be to far from the boys out there so I had to leave it . Dont people have any idea . Every one has the right to use the water ,but look after our future.

  15. You are definetly King hooked . It is some of the best fun you can get when they are biting hard. Good on you for getting out there . I will be on wednesday as BOM is showing a glipse of hope , but no one else is ,saying the wind will still be there .

  16. Sorry guys but that is Xmas. Because it happens on weekends as well . I think my scientific reason I have worked out that because there is less traffic on the roads in sydney ,it has something to do with either more cars equals less wind . Or the other theory is that all of our thoughts are of fishing & not enough thoughts on no wind . Anyway I think that we all need to get our wives to drive the kids around & leave us in the boat to fish & they can drive around until we get back . HYappy new year . :1fishing1:
