  1. At least you had a go & got out there . I had plans but looking at all of the wind reports I thought why bother. They look like crap for the next week . Great to be on holidays & every time I seem to be blessed with wind . I can put up with a bit but the kids go abit green outside. Good on you for getting out there!!!!

  2. Well, it is the first time in along time that I didint do any good . We picked up yakkas with the kids ,great a dozen in no time . Then went for a quick troll for the regulars, Bonnies but none at the norm cape bank or even up to little bay . We were in shock as the last 6 trips had a dozen in an hour easy . Then DR around from little bay back into Mol point when there was a pack of boats following a school .I only saw one hook up . They looked like salmon . We persisted to try and sound anything . We came across a school of rats & they wouldnt have a bar of anything thrown at them. The followed bonito strips back to the boat so many times but not one hook up . Anyway I took the kids to LaParouse for fish & chips & had a snorkel in yarra bay which was fantastic . That wind!!!!. If its not the rain it the wind & looks like its here for a few more days . Lokks like bike riding tomorrow . Hornets

  3. Hi all,

Did 3 hours this evening for zip. Had 2 lights off the pontoon into the water . Had yakkas the whole time around . The tide change was around 830 . 1.5 hrs either side . Glow yozuri jigs. 2.0 & 2.5 . The water I thoght was a bit dirty though . Thanks for your help & I WILL give it a go in the next few days again . Adam

  4. Take a bait jig with you . Off the marina art night there are heaps of bait there . Check your tide there as it will make a big difference . There are reefs all along the western side . I dont think you can take the tinny to far from the main marina but take some livey hook & hang on with some big cod there off the reefs . If you get any small reef fish put a hook through its back & they will go off as well . You could also take a couple of bibbed minnows as you can troll from the tinny .

  5. Can someone tell me with squidding do they go off the bite with pressure drops . Is it better squidding on the bottom or top of tide. I have acces to a friends pontoon in the Hacking over the break & going to give squidding a serious hit this summer in the attempt to nail some good kings . Thanks Adam

  6. The bonito were there on saturday morning as we finally got yakkas fast which enabled trolling to kick off early . We got 12 very quickly & were then able to try for kings which were found to be very picky. They busted right next to us at north Cape Banks but nothing would tempt them . Makes it easy to pull stumps when you get something early . I never usually get home & washed up before lunch . Just lucky some days .

  7. Diving minnows if trolling works a treat for bonnies to find them then casting a variety of different lures . See what they are eating sometimes gives you ideas for the type of lures. Open the stomach of the first ones to see . My kids think thats the best part of fishing .

  8. When they are on my fav. lure is always williamson jet smoker, as last year they were a bit quieter than the year before that I got so many on those . Always got them when trolling faster then normeal usually on the way back from peak or FADs . Hope this helps. At usually off south Maroubra Heads 70- 50 m marks. Hornets

  9. I just brought off that auction site a couple of weeks ago after looking through forums an Okuma Salina 10000 with reported 22kg Of drag available . I got it for $110 US which these days Is the same thanks to the Aus dollar . Ihave only picked up a few bonnies on lure but it has a liftime warranty which you cant go wrong with. It isnt as good as the shimano or Diawa big guns but for the price with 50lb braid I love it . Just another option there .

  10. Better than me as all I could get the family to do is take a drive out to Solander for a look & it lokked a bit sloppy. I did see a few boats out there. You can have a ball with those Bonnies when they are that thick . They are great on the BBQ Filleted & brushed with olive oil . Good to see you got into them .

  11. Had a great day out north of BB as the wife is at a conference .We hit the water at 730 & straight to get some livies with no luck as the wind was still up . So we went straight around north up to Maroubrasouth for a troll . We hit school after school of 450-500 Bonnies which the kids love . Downrigged a squid the whole day for zip But as usual we always get into bonnies . Coming out this morning we passed a large pod of dolphins at Towra .As we rounded on the way back in the pod was leaving the bay so the kids wanted to follow them north & they surfed Our wash & bow for a couple of hundred metres which made the day . The wife wont be impressed as we always see them & the seals when she isnt out . A TOP DAY OUT !!

  12. Talk about a day of mixed fortune there. I am indeed sorry to hear that,as I was goimg to hit that ramp tomorrow with mine being only a year old. I couldnt amagine that gut wrenching feeling as you walked up to your car. I will be adding another padlock to the chain as well as the hitch I have already & park it backed in . Thanks for the heads up as I hope you have a good feed on those fish . Adam
