I fish around that part of Manly a bit as well...... with Kingfish like that they do come around and might turn up on different rock point at times, but don't expect every outing.............. also quochuy had put in a lot of work prior to that... well done

Agree with all, as long as we stick to the rule there should be plenty for everyone to enjoy( including the fish ), same here I don't take blue...... 1-5kg do taste good and less cute...... , BTW there is a group spear fishier, they got a drummer , lobsters , they setup next to us with crab bite - line fishing and send one of them down with sea urchin, they don't get anyone groper though, once their crab finish they left..... I guess that what we call barely legal

We hook up to 3 groper and keep one ..... they are so cute especially big one like a baby, but family always want fish for meal..... that why I target Drummer instead of Groper with prawn bite instead of Crab

Put in bread burly not long hook up to 2x drummer 27cm 25cm . Send them back ... some rock fish .... send them back . My sister in law fishing with silstar power tip 10 feet 20kg line with prawn... yell ... help help .... she hook up to something big .... then she keep saying ... I dont want it... clam her down. Lifting ... wind....lifting.... wind... up come a 3kg groper . She was so happy

Things to check (1) General weather - weather.com (2) Wind speed - don't brother when strong wind warning - check BOM (3) Sea sizes - A lot of people forget about sea (4) Swell - Direction is so important again people forget about as people point out Avoca is south Swell spots, forget about 2m swell if you are in-experience (5) Check for 15-20 min minium befor start , or use i-phone to keep up up-date , coastalwatch.com.au (6) Always expect a bigger set than normal, it does happen (7) Plan an escape rout and never fish where wave wash back (8) Safety wear is a must I use to go to avalon only see the whole platform under-water so stupid.................

I have never fish for blackfish as I use heavier gear for drummer 10kg and groper 20-40kg , but where I fish people catch a lot of blackfish, try north Garie at royal national park, with a bit of swell 1-1.5m north east 1m south and run in tide, you have to get one
