  1. Hey raiders, Yesterday i went down to one of my land-based hacking haunts for a morning sesh. There was heaps of baitfish around and within 20 minutes i had enough livies. I sent one out and went for squid with my other rod. Second cast i got a small calamari and i got another four in the next 20 minutes then they dissapeared, The biggest went 1kg. The livie didnt get touched and the others were dead so i cut the yakkas up into strip baits and used them instead. I picked up two tailor in quick time then it quietened down and the pickers showed up. After a while i got frustrated from bringing up 5cm snapper every cast so i went to clean the tailor, as i was cleaning i notice the rod tip tapping lightly, i get up and hook-up the fish and i was surprised by the way it took off because i was expecting a little snapper, anyway after a short fight up came a nice fat 29cm breambo . The wind picked up from then on so i finished cleaning the fish and went home with dinner sorted and kingie bait for next sesh. Seriola Lalandi,
  2. The ponds near the sydney airport hold some. I've only tried there once though and caught a few smallish ones. There is also the park at the end of george street on the parramatta river not the cbd, you get some thumpers there. I used bread and corn. seriola lalandi,
  3. The exact same thing happened to me years ago when the kingy size limit was 60cms. I caught 2 kings that day. They were 61cms and 60.5cms, the fisheries came to measure and it ended up that my measure was 0.7cms off. That was so frustrating, i remember it like yesterday. But these guys that came from the fisheries were good blokes. They let me off with a warning, like they did with you but they let me keep the fish because it was only just under size and it was because of the ruler that i got mistaken with the real size. Anyway, enough of me bragging about, well done on a cracker kingy seriola lalandi
  4. Yeah, i agree with A.dawg. I have caught kingies on slam and plenty of flatties as well. There's a video on youtube of mark berg cutting up slam soft plastics and throwing them in to the water and you see massive bream going beserk for them SLAM ALL THE WAY seriola lalandi,

    Braid

hey raiders, I am looking for some really good braid, even the best on the market for a new reel i bought. This braid needs to suit kingie fishing. I am looking from between 30lb-80lb. Also, does anyone know about some size 6 hooks which are really thick. I'm going to go surgeon fishing later in the week and need some solid hooks. thanks raiders, seriola lalandi,
  8. burley for them somewhere else, then go for the yakkas this should distract the sweep and you'll have a clear field, seriola lalandi,
  9. When all the pro's moved out it gave the underwater life a chance to breathe again and now its better than ever. Nearly every trip into the harbour i tangle with a kingy and get dusted 70% of the time. It's really improved alot. And this site really gives all fisho's a chance to expand their knowledge in fishing. Sydney is going to become (in my opinion) The best fishing harbour in Australia if not the World. cheers, seriola lalandi,
  10. welldone mate, there's some nice squid and converted into a nice jewwie cheers, seriola lalandi,

  12. ive used whiting pieces for bait before and have had some results but i've never actually thought of sending them out for livebait. Great thinking and welldone on a beaut flattie
  13. i have actually found some crab pots before, washed up on the georges and some of them actually had crabs in them, they all had punctures in the float though.
  14. welldone on a great catch looks like something took a chomp outta thay trevors nose
  15. Hey Raiders, Yesterday i went down to gunamatta baths for some yakkas to use ina sesh later on in the week. Anyway, they yakkas were there in numbers and i was pulling them up in the 2's and 3's on the sabiki rig. After about 40 minutes i had a good 25 yakkas. I dropped the sabiki rig after rebaiting and the yakkas were on it again but this time they shot away in one direction and a big trevor came out of nowhere and whacked my sabiki rig and 2lb line. I was thinking that and i had no chance. But i persisted in the fight and after about 10 minutes of dodging pylons and nervous moments the trevor finally surfaced. I used this guys net and hauled the trev over, tangling the line in the net and doing a million things(including a stack) but i didn't give a (yes the top word). The big fella went 46cms heres the pic,
  16. wd mate, thats a whopper, and they say you have to go to lord howe and norfolk island to get a trevally like that
  17. Yeah it was a nice quiet spot, very tranquil. hey jewdreamer, nah, im not local to the area but im pretty close 2 it, im based in kogarah,
  18. Hey guys, was looking on google maps for a quiet spot in the georges and managed to see some stairs leading down to the waters edge. So i got out with a slick stick and some plastics and got there at quarter past 0800. It was all slow for the 1st half hour with no hits at all but then suddenly i got a strike, i hooked this fish up and i called it for a small bream because it wasnt putting up much of a fight but to my surprise up came a little ep. This was my 1st lb ep and not the only one as the small ep fired, they were all small so i released them without harm. as the morning went on the tide changed and the ep's moved on. I was getting soft taps on the bait and as i put tension on the line the dragwas going off, this is a little better i thought. I got it to the surface and it turned out to be a 43cm flattie . It all went quiet and i was startin to pack up when suddenly the bream appeared. in th space of 15 minutes i brought up 4 legal bream to 29cms. As it turned out, they disappeared as well and as i had dinner sorted i decided it was time to go. Tally: 4 Bream: 26,26,27 and 29cms 1 Flathead 43cms cheers guys,
  19. i would say bonnie as ive had them take my baits like that before
  20. thanks guys, i really love this site, but ive also never seen a school of tailor in a frenzy there in the georges like that before so i was shocked as well.
  21. Hey Guys, I've just become a member and i've been wanting to post a trip i had a week ago on the Georges River. Last week i was sitting in bedroom looking out of my window at the rain splattering my window and i was bored like hell . Then an amazing thought came to my head. I'm gonna go fishing, then i thought ohhh sh*t, no car, then i thought about my bike, that would narrow it down to the local spots which can be on and off. Then problem number 2, no bait, then i said to myself stuff it ill catch my own, so i grabbed a rod got a handfull of hooks n sinkers and the like grabbed a loaf of bread from the kitchen put em all in a bag, tied the rod to the bike and off i went. I chose to take a 20 min ride and by the time i realised i forgot my raincoat it was too late. Anyway i got to the captain cook bridge and it was ghost town, BEAUTIFUL!! i got down to the wharf and chucked on a long shank and plopped down some bread, about 20 mins later i was out of bread but had about a dozen nice yakkas in the bag. I headed over under the bridge to get out of the rain and started cutting up the yakkas into strips, on my 1st cast i hadnt even closed the bail arm when i noticed line was running off the spool very quickly,i closed it and i was on, zzzzzzzz!!!! i tussled with this fish for about a minute then up came a BEAUT tailor, it went 47cms and it went into the bag, 2nd cast same story but this time it was just legal, chucked it back. And in the space of the next hour i was hooking up on every cast, got cut 3 or 4 times, but landed about 30 tailor between 25cms and 51cms. I kept 9 fat 40cm+ models for dinner and took the bike ride home a verry happy man . It just shows how a dull rainy boring day can turn into 2 hours of hectic fishing. The best feeling is catching some good fish with the bait you caught yourself. cheers, Seriola Lalandi
