  9. Well it was a much anticipated trip and the only dampener was going to be the weather literally..with rain and huge winds forecast we set out half heartedly in the dead of night. Arriving at the ramp around 2am we were greeted by still conditions, in fact too still and we concluded that this was the calm before the storm. We concurred that we launch and try a few closer spots ( to the ramp that is ) in the even that it turns on us. As it turned out it looks like the big front missed us completely as we only got a nice dump of rain for 10 or so minutes and few gusts of those chilling chilling SWesters..other than than that it was a classic winters day fishing. During the night hours we were getting the standard eel and catfish on the bite but as the light was first approaching we decided to move over a drop near Dangar Island and that's when the fun began. None of us bought a camera with us as we thought it would be a no-go due to the weather predictions so we were unable to take a collective shot of our catch but I did manage to capture a shot of my share of the catch after we distributed amongst the 3 of us. To cut a long story short we had a fantastic Bream session bagging 17 quality Bream ranging from 26cm to 6 over 35cm and a massive Weira Cod? something I had never seen before but the others confirmed it's origin..this came in at 3kg at least and gave a nice account of itself, I'm just sorry I haven't got a photo to share but it looked like something out of Nrth Qld fishing show It was a great trip in the end and definately worth the effort and I won't even mention the 2 bust offs we had which went like absolute freight trains oh yeah check out the Blue Swimmer biggest I've ever seen!Tight Lines Sam OH YEAH OLE OLE OLE AUSSSSSIIEE AUSSSSIIEEEE
  10. Great work Flattieman I drove past the bay today and it was as flat as a S%*tcarters hat.. no joke today would have been awesome out there, due to babysitting commitments as the was working all I could do was pray that the rain kept away as we had organised to do a session on the Hawksebury tonight well early morning away.. well it's bucketing as I write and I've just come back from the garage where all the rods are loaded and ready to go.. buggar it I'm going I'll leave here at about 1am get there see what happens and call it a day if the weather Gods go nuts! Agter reading reports like yours and Inhlanzi's of Late I'm too pumped up not to go!! That's what wet weather gear is for right??
  11. Great catch champ! you're on fire..somebody stop him Classic Mixed bag well done
  12. Whilst we all try and be as diplomatic as we can and yes this site is great for that as we all try and respect each others opinion... the truth is we are loosing all our rights under our noses and unfortunately it's the political parties that are making these decisions. Whilst I also think there is a little too much emphasis on actual political parties in this actual case, the truth is if we don't get united as a group ie People Power we will loose even more I tried to raise this as a by-comment in a different thread, unrelated to the original topic and it got little response which is fair enough. It might not effect us 'city folk' too much in the short term but think about our country friends and your favourite holiday locations in summer, these towns rely on the tourism $ that fisho's bring in very year. Whilst there is no simple way of putting this we are loosing a lot of right and unfortunately if it doesn't get raised by people like us who love their fishing so much well.......maybe we one as pointed out we won't have a report thread to talk about. Think about it
  13. Well done Champ! Firstly for going and having ago in these conditions and secondly your prized catch and putting an end to this myth that there's no more Hairtail out there and even more during the Day!!
  14. Very Sad fella's.. just more fuel for those Greenies and their upbeat on Marine Parks and closing down great fishing grounds. I know this post wasn't intended to go this way but I was speaking to a mate earlier today who runs a tackle shop about these proposed Marine Parks from Ulladulla all the way up to Byron! C'mon guys lets challenge this one like they did the snowy river.. protest on this Saturday at Sydney Town Hall 11am! Again apologies for raising here but I'm sickened at loosing all these options I once had as a rec angler..
  15. I wouldn't worry about too much about those little parasites 'Doctors', I've caught heaps of fish where they have been present if anything they clean up the smaller parasites that are found inside fish so you could say it's a special relationship.. as for the glow mate?? not sure I have caught a few Trevs already this year from both the Harbour and the Bay and whilst you get some odd things in their gut cavities and some beaut aroma's as well! I've never see a glow such as the one you have mentioned? am certainly keen to see what other experiences Raiders have had
  16. Not much fishing this weekend I don't think for Sydney based fishos as the heaven's have just opened up! Could be great in the coming weeks as all systems get an almighty overdue flush..bring on the Jewies and Breambo's I say in a few weeks
  17. I'll add my 10cents worth and admit its a great site where you actually get supported for a great catch and don't get carved up when you choose to keep a catch that's legally yours that's always been my gripe about some other sites but here there's definately a community feel where we fellow fishos want to help each other during these testing times..hope it always stays like this In the meantime Tight Lines
  18. Hey Guys thanks for all your great replies.. I can tell you all that I just returned from my parents place where I 'shouted' everyone a feed My mum cooked them of course but I had the bro in law and sisters over and they all loved it, washed down by a few coldies I had the old man and bro in law opened mouthed with tall tales from the old man of the sea and the ones that got away.. I can honestly say that the Flounder was the pick of the bunch.. Lightly crumbed in a beer batter fried Yummo! It was a smorgasboard of fish where everyone tried a bit of every fish. One of those great family nights. Happy fishing to all Sam
  19. Yep she's fishing well at the moment..the Tailor definately have some size to them, must have lost at least 3 rigs to some thumpers yesterday, will have the right setup next time to chase some of these razor mad choppers
  20. Headed out for a bash in the Bay yesterday as the conditions looked favourable early on and I was hanging for a fish so work was easily 're-arranged' Targeted all the usual suspects early on as we were on the drink by 6am. We landed a few nice Bream and lost another couple big ones due to a scrappy leader that I thought I could get one more session out of, serves me right for being lazy as this would have been the fish of the day for sure. The most productive spots worked out to be a drift between the runways and a nice drift by the beaches outside Lady Robinson where a couple of flatties, flounder and Tailor were produced. One interesting thing that had us gob smacked for the rest of the day was when we were pulling up one of the stock standard 20cm or so Snapper , we saw an almighty splash before us and then another one the quickest bend in the rod you'll ever see and then on retrieval just the head of poor buggar of a snapper My mate called it for a King but I thought massive Tailor ?? as it was a clean cut..I only saw the flash and it looked huge he reckons it was at least 70cm or so but either way this was discussed for a great part of the day as you could imagine. Wind picked up early morning around 11am and we had a nice mixed bag plus a few missed ones so we called it a day. Great day on the water and even more talking points about the one that got away Tight Lines Sam
  21. Big Blue Nose Winter Bream! They are the top of the shelf for Breambo fisho's like me You'll get cold and the hours will be long but when your on HANG ON! Gotta love that Chill in the air when the first rod goes off.. happy fishing
  22. Hey Guys haven't left yet just finished rigging up my big rod! you never know your luck hey.. Inhlanzi, thanks mate I think we'd be launching around Brooklyn somwhere and fishing some oyster leases for some big Blue Nose Bream as we've got a huge run in tonight and as the run out hits in the morning the boys have 'promised' to put me onto some School Jews don't know where though??, they got 6 last week biggest going 4.5kg so not a bad effort.. but if you've ever read any of my earlier reports I love big Breambo's so am just happy to target those all day but hey I'll take whatever bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz GET THE NET! ps What spots where you thinking? I don't know the Hawk too well but I'm learning it! Cheers guys PS GREAT CROC
