  1. Hi Raiders, Happy new year to all! Took a mate out this morning who doesn't fish much and boy were the condtions great almost too good as we didn't seem to have any run in the water at all. The aim of the day was to fish light on the Western Side of the Harbour Bridge so the main targets were your usual Bream,Whiting, Flatties etc.. He was just happy to catch up for a laugh and a day out so we weren't too stressed on catching our bag limits and biguns on the sloppy end of town. We fished with Bloodworms and Whitebait and I must say that I was surprised that we didn't land more Whiting..now we fished all my fav spots around the Parra River and landed in total 5 Whiting and 3 Bream.. We didn't countless drifts with the Whitebait with no keeper Flatties recorded?? Has anyone else had trouble raising a decent Flatty? Anyway he was stoked with the day and so was I! Now the reality of work kicks in and everytime I drive over the Bridge for work I'll be wishing I was underneath hooked onto that monster Jew ps On our last drift just before we pulled stumps we got a nice little run, whilst I called for our first decent Flatty to my my surprise we pulled up a healthy looking Soapy measuring 50cm! Safely released to the depths for some more growing.. Tight Lines Sam
  2. Well done mate doesn't a flatty look great when it comes up that size from the depths! Love the lizards
  3. Good on ya Captain.. I love fishing with the old man as well..Memories that will last forever! Good to see that you got amongst some fish as well Have a for me in Africa! Tight lines
  4. Enjoyed your post there champ! Mate now you've got the mrs all sorted and happy you just have to convince her that the more you get out there the better you'll get thus more everyones a winner..
  5. Good stuff mate, good to see you got amongst some fish..gotta love those ever reliable Breambo's
  6. Hey Captain, bad luck there mate I can only imagine how you feel..I guess they don't call the boating the endless pit for nothing huh You'll get her back better than ever and the way your going you'll crack 75 Kings before the seasoins out! Hang in there
  7. That's a top looking bream there mate well done there's been some horse bream caught up that way lately
  8. Started off hesitantly this morning after last nights huge downpour..but when you've got a day off, you've promised your old man and the boats loaded well there's only one thing to do and that's to get out there and have a go! Picked up the old man around 5.30 and we launched around 6 am and headed straight towards our favourite spot at Balls Head. We were greeted by dead calm seas and the expected rubbish in the water. Besides the odd drizzle here and there the conditions were great for fishing light today. On the fishing front we landed around 8 bream, 3 flatties and 2 cracker Whiting ..my old mans going to 37cm. Now I have landed some nice bream in my time but today's was probably the most enjoyable, now I know it aint a King but we're talking fishing with 4 kg line here as the old man likes the light gear.. It was caught whilst drifiting for flatties and to my surprise fought as hard as a little soapy giving me no less than 4 good runs Weighed in at 855grams and around 37cm close to a PB for me. Good memories and the making for good conversation after a few TightLines Sam ( attached pic - Ken A)
  9. At least you were out there mate! I couldn't convince anyone to go out at all and I'm itching hard for a fish now.. might go for a hit one night this week that's if the winds die down. Better luck next time champ
  10. Top stuff mate.. I've been at a BBQ all day and guess what the talk was for most of the day besides sport off course KINGIES yep big juicy Kingies! After many beverages we all agreed that we should get into the action as one of the lads from today picked up an 80cm model of Clontarf on Friday. Lots of was consumed today so the the stories became more lively ha gotta love these days. Go the Kings! BTW wasn't too happy with the 'same' old stories GET THE NET I'm on
  11. Good report there mate, sounds like the Bay is starting to get the pelagics back again.. I'm planning to take the old man out as well next week in the Bay, weather permitting of course
  12. Great Stuff James! You'll never forget your first Kingy, it will keep you coming back for more and more
  13. Great report there Captain and not a bad read also, like reading how other fisho's spend their weekends revolved around fishing.. ah those Kings great fish great fight. Haven't caught one this year yet but if my luck continues like last year I got a 67cm model under Gladesville Bridge on a nipper! work that one out. Oh yeah I was drifting of Flatties at the time with 4kg line..
  14. Thanks for the warm welcome guys.. I feel like I'm at home already. I try and get out there once a week so will update once I touch terra firma. I know it's one thing to get good tips /advice before you get out there, but getting good feedback when you land a good catch only adds to the joy! It's not the same is it, telling a mate who's not interested " I tried this new spot as it looked fishy and after my first cast line was buzzing off my new rod etc etc" and all you get is oh yeah good on ya mate he he. Half the fun of fishing is sharing your experiences with other like minded fisho's. Tight lines Sam
  15. Great fish in tough conditions.. gotta love the Bay when it produces Breambo's like that..
  16. Hi Fellow Fisho's, My name is Sam and this is my first post here. I have been checking this site out for the last few weeks and must say I'm very impressed. There seems to be a lot of support for those rare good days you get out on the water and that's refreshing to see. I mainly fish Sydney Harbour but gave Botany Bay a go yesterday well actually Friday night into Saturday chasing that elusive jew but didn't manage to turn a reel. Daylight was a different story and we managed 5 bream , 2 Thumper Trev's, 3 massive Whiting ( biggest I've seen in the bay for years ) and 2 nice Flatties on the drift passed the 3rd runway. I'll try and share my experiences with you guys and hopefully even post a few pics as the season really starts to warm up. I'm looking forward to sharing fishing stories/adventures on this site. Thanks Sam.
