  1. like i said, if you know who to talk to and they know what they are looking at jeeps are great cars...... dont rely on the dealerships for anything outside of warranty work........ most dealers couldnt tell you the difference between a jeep and a mazda..... there are some good ones out there though...... dont write off the jeep cos of somethign that happened to a friends neighbours sisters sons girlfriends dad..........
  2. jeep is one of those brands that alot of people dont know much about so they steer clear of them. its always the louder minority of people who make the most noise.... im onto my second jeep in a row, and im hooked....... admitidly i have the wrangler and not the GC, but still, jeeps a jeep.... people will go on and on about recalls, fire etc... but its all a blow up really..... every car has their teething issues when they release a new model...... a mate of mine has the new GC but the V8 version, and he loves it..... what you need is a good dealer to get the car from, if you are in sydney i can reccomend one...... lots of mechanics charge an obscene amount for parts and labour on jeeps, cos they jsut dont know.... parts are cheap if you know where to shop....... belive me, i have a wrangler that is modified much more then your average patrol/ land cruiser..... i wouldnt have been able to afford it if i went to the mainstream suppliers..... happy to answer any more questions if you need......
  3. i hardly have time to fish, nor do i post on here much........can i have a wanna be button? seriously though, you guys do a great job..... cant keep everyone happy.......
  4. i managed to hook up to a garbage bag..........i was about 7, boy was it heavy...... me and dad still laugh about it
  5. thats terrible...............
  6. ive been to the lake 2 times in the last week, and as you said, it sickens me the amount of people who dont give a hoot about throwing the small fish back...... yes its all fun and games for kids to catch a fish, but there will be no fish left if they dont throw em back...... anyway, 2 times we came away with nothign really, small bream, and a few lil mullet...... seems the lake has changed a heap since they re opened it, it is way more tidal now...... a mate of mine got his fishign lisence checked the other day off the rocks too......
  7. good to hear..... i was there about 3 weeks ago and they still had the excavator, and a heap of sand blocking it off...... some flow in there would be great......

    Leatherjacket

we caught a few over the weekend...... i jsut stuck em straight on the bbq...... the meat is so sweet its a shame to spoile the natural taste with anything.....
  9. as an all balck supporter it pains me to say it but i think the walla bies did well to win the game with the amount of ball they had..... cooper played avaerage, but he didnt have much front foot ball.... the french were at their unpredictable best, and the welsh shut ireland out of the game.... the all blacks were shaky, but cruden settled the team, as did weepu. next weeks semis will be great, im flying out on wednesday to see them along with the final..... c'mon the blacks!!!!
  10. wales should dispose of the irish..... im hoping the french beat the pomms too..... fingers crossed that the boks get up and the all blacks should smash the pumas..... im an all black supporter, and i personally hope we play the boks in the semi as opposed to the wallabies.... they are a team that can pull somthing out of the fire...... the boks cant...... im heading over to nz on tuesday for the semis and finals..........

  13. hi all, just wondering, how long will a hook last in a fishes mouth or down deeper.... i see and sometimes myself cut the line as opposed to ripping the hook out when i let a fish go, but how long before the fish gets rid of it? cheers.
  14. yeah got pics on olgas phone and some on the camera.. will try and get around to uploading them tonight
  15. youre a lucky man jase...... have fun mate, say bula to the koro
  16. morning raiders, after last weeks success myself and joe (wettinaline) decided to take the girls out for a morning of fishing at swansea... left sydney at about 4.30am and made our way up the freeway. went to the loacl tackle store, stocked up on some salted pilles and joe decided to grab a chromie as well. we get to our spot where we were last week to find there is no one there... where as last week the place was crawing with people fishing, uh well, lets have a go anyway. first casts are away and we are fishing, joe was using his lure that he just brought where as myself, olga, and nancy are all using the pillies. just as i was saying to olga that last week on my first cast i was on her rod develops a bend in it, she strikes and is on.... now silly me forgot to set the drag properly after cleaning it off last week so the fish is happily taking line, after explaing to her how to tighten it up she sets in for a fight while i make my way to the waters edge to get ready to grab it.... after a short lived fight i have the fish in my hands... a nice salmon, i give the fish to her and we get a quick photo and back it goes.... turns out its her biggest ever fish so she was pretty chuffed. next up as im watching joe flick his lure around i see a salmon hit it and hit it hard... joes on.... again i make my way down to the waters edge to grab it this time once i had the fish in my hand it decided to loose control of its bowels and crap all over my jumper.... after a pic with joe, it lives to fight another day. a few more casts and joe is on again, this time the fish is doing some awsome ariel acrobatics, again as joe is bringing him in i am at the waters edge ready to grab him, no such luck..... as i grab the leader it decided to rub up against the rocks and cut the line off.... there goes joe's 2 hour old lure along with the fish... spewing... uh well such is fishing i guess.... soon after this olga is on again, but this one feels a bit different... turns out its a flounder.... again after a quick happy snap it is set free.... after a while of fishing, joe decideds to take his phone out of his pocket to check the time... the phone had other ideas, it slipped out of his hand and fell between the rocks, so close to the water... joe cant quite reach it so asks me how long my arms are..... id never really measured them... so i climb down the rocks and stick my head and shoulders in a gap in the rocks and ask joe to keep and eye incase a rouge waves shows up... i manage to grab the phone and stay relativly dry.... soon after we decide to call it a day and make our way back to sydney.... all in all not a bad morning fishing, pretty sure the girls had a blast too...
  17. probably while fishing at narrabeen lakes one arvo, had a few mates with me just seeing what was about when a father and son team came down, they were very new to fishing so asked if we could give them a hand, happily showed them some simple rigs and knots and they were on their way, a little while had past and the kid (about 6 or 7) was gitting frustrated as he was getting bits but not hook ups.... so i hooked a fish on my rod and gave it to him to pull in... a small flattie about 30 odd cm.... the look on the kids face was awsome, his dad wanted to leave soon after but the kid wasnt going anywhere haha.... always good to get a youngster into the sport.....
  18. hey mate, firstly, dont listen to a word the dealer says... he/she will say anything to get you into a new car.... when it comes time for me to purchase my first boat, i will be looking for a 4wd, prefferably deisel.... you never know when your gonna be faced witha slippery ramp etc... but i know its alot of money to spend just to tow a boat....
  19. well, joe and i left sydney at about 4.30am, and headed north, stopped fora bite to eat at the twin servo's on the freeway and kept going. after stuffing around trying to find a tackle store at that hour of the morning (i love having an iphone), we got to our spot, second cast saw me pull up a flattie, about the size of the palm of my hand, so back he went. after rigging up my lighter rod to throw a plastic around i could see that the pillie i had thrown out had some enquiries, a quick lift of the rod and i was on... after letting the fish run for a bit i decided it was time to put a bit more pressure on the fish, tightened up the drag a tad and started to regain some line. with an awsome acrobatics display going on, i asked joe to head down the rocks to grab the fish..... just as joe got down close enough to grab my leader the fish either spat the hook or i pulled it out of its mouth.... dam....1 lost salmon after seeing that fish, joe and i were pumped.... so back went another pillie and joe was working a chomey franticly..... 15 mins later..... i hear joe " im on, im on".... awsome, he was really wanting to get a fish on a lure and sure enough he got one.... again a great display of the fishes flying skills he asked me to head down to the waters edge to grab the fish.... again just as i get down there, the fish has 1 last headshake in amongst the rocks, boom, the line is cut on a rock.... damn..... another salmon lost.... soon after my rod is buckled over again.... and a salmon is brought to the waters edge where joe grabs it... woo hoo, after a quick photo, he is put back to fight another day... spent the rest of the morning going from spot to spot basically just exploring the area, but with no more fish.... headed home at about midday from what was a great day out... big thanks to joe (wettingaline) for coming up, and to the other raiders who passed on advice to us.....
  20. tried finding the breakwall on google maps.... any help?
  21. cheers guys, fingers crossed we'll have a better weekend out there.... its alright when your out freezing your proverbials off and getting bites atleast.. haha, uh well time will tell
  22. g'day all, well after my last efforts on the rod and dreel me and a mate figured that sydney land based fishing is on hold for a while so we figured we should move further up the coast this weekend.... just wondering where would be a good spot to flick some plastics or so chromies to maybe get a salmon or 3.... dont mind driving a bit, even jsut to get bites... we're going to try and head up on sunday morning for a days worth of fishing... can anyone point us in a direction that we can safely and legally fish north of sydney? have been reading that swansea is going off at the moment, but where abouts? any wharves we can try? cheers.
  23. hi all, havent really posted much on here, but enjoy reading the threads about other people success stories... a mate and I headed out to Narrabeen yesterday to see if we could get onto the rocks for a fish, as it turned out the swell was pumping and fishing off the rocks would have ended up in another story on the news...(not what we were after). so after a while of scratching our heads and wondering wher to fish we decided cliffton gardens would be worth a crack. we drove out there to find a few people fishing off the wharf so we got our rods out of the car and made the walk down the wharf, i was amazed at how clear the water was, it looked like we could be in for a shot here... set up and we were fishing... had 1 rod out with a unweighted half pillie on the end and dthe other rod we were just flicking plastics in towards the rocks, through out the day we were berlying up with bits of pillie and squid.... we were out ther for about 3 or 4 hours and couldnt even muster up a bite.... uh well, i guess it was better then being at home mowing the lawn or somthing....
  24. hi all this is my first post here, sorry Groper, i have to disagree with you on this one, the thing is, if people start to fail the "test" which you propose, they are still going to go to the tackle store, get their bait and fish, where as with a gun, you cant buy one (unless on the black market) without the appropriate lisence. i think a smiple option would be a small hand book, printed in various languages as a safety guideline..... you cant educated 100% of the poeple about 100% of possibilites. i think if the majority of people who have their fishing lisences would read a small booklet about do's and donts then a lot fewer incidents like this would occur. i know that the people who are doing the right thing by purchasing lisences are probably the ones who have a better understanding of the conditions and risk, but if teh fishing fraternity can be seen as doing somthing proactive then there would be a lower risk of us fisho's being tarred with the same brush and causing a knee jerk reaction. sorry if i have offeneded anyone with my post, it is not intended that way at all. my condolences go out to the family and friends and those affected by this tradgity.
