  1. Thanks for all your kind replies guys however I dont think I will be as lucky next time certainly not in the next few months with the water temperature dropping. From past experience once it falls below 19 degrees the whiting slow down immensely.
  2. Hey Royce you forgot to mention the golden greek ring me tonight. Steve
  3. Gooday Raiders I had the day of yesterday got up in the morning to see the rain increasing steadily.I thought bugger wanted to go for a fish looked up the swell report with a swell of around a metre and the forecast of clearing weather I thought I was in with a chance to get out. Around early afternoon it was looking good with ideal conditions so of to the local bait shop armed with bloddworms.I actually tried a new beach on the advice of the bait shop proprietor who told me that they have been getting good whiting at Bungan Beach. Having fished there once before at least I knew how to get there. I arrived there around 1.00pm to take advantage of the high tide around 4.oopm to be greeted by a few surfers and a gently rolling swell with a couple of nice gutters.Just a note access to the beach is quite easy after having to go down a very steep path to get there and parking was a pain but available on Barrenjoey rd.Outfit used was my old CR6145FT Snyder 1 piece rod with approximately a 1 ounce ball sinker short trace around 2 feet with a size 4 long shank hook. After trying numerous strategies it was apparent that the fish were feeding in the wash zone in the shore break which can quickly change according to the sandbanks and gutters.I found that there was some current but I have found it is better to cast out and walk with the rig than to anchor the bait in one place providing conditions allow this.Once I located the fish it was game on with fish flowing freely until about 1 hour after dark.I finished up with 15 keeper whiting and 1 solitary bream and quite surprised with the catch in the end with the fish quite hungry and all being gut hooked. I did take note that the water temperature was stll quite warm for this time of year feels like its hovering around the 20 degrees. Cheers Steve
  4. thanks for offering to have a fish with you.will pm you so can set up an outing.hard at the moment with work.Keep up the good work. steve
  5. To get the bream try using 4 pound braid with 4ib fluro leader with light jig heads ultra light nitro pro heads in the various sizes 1/16 grams or more depending on current. The goal is to be able to throw the required distance using light braid.Use the gulp prawn and the turtleback worms also the bloodworm wriggler 80mm is a good alround size.Go to you tube and search for adam royter bream soft plastic videos. All the info is there mate.By the way are you local to the area.Would like to try there some time if you want some company.Never been down that way how long does it take to drive down there from sydney?.Good luck with the bream, have you tried bait? Regards Steve
  6. Thats good for the boat fisho but with commercial fishing perhaps being implemented you wont be catching anything.Your boat will become a picnic only vessel.
  7. Thanks mate the same thing happened to me at woolloomooloo in the harbour.I was fishing in front of a block of units with a no fishing sign no mention by order of or fine details.A security guard rocks up and tells me to leave or there will be a fine.i said rack off not enforceable in my opinion so he says he will call the police.anyway the police rocked up and told me to leave so I did.The only way to find out is to challenge the guard and not leave and if the relevant authorities turn up an read you the riot act then leave otherwise it could be a bluff as the sign is not clear.by the way a security guard has no power to fine you or remove you only the police can and you will be given a warning first up.I know that you cannot be fined if the sign is not specific on this.Test the waters before assuming that this is permanently banned. regards steve
  8. Is that molineaux point in botany bay?.hope not as that was one of the blackfish spots that royce and friends fish.If thats the case is the whole length of the wall affected. Thanks steve.

  10. Good going Pete didnt think the californian squid would be that effective. Can you PM me the shop were you bought them as I have not seen it in the bait shop in my local area in Ashfield.Could you also outline your rig set up hook sizes single or snell and the type of bait presentation ie whole or strips whatever has been working. That would be awesome. Cheers Steve

  13. Thats why its a good fishing beach you have to respect stewy not telling.I will take a guess and say it is a central coast beach educated guess the entrance or perhaps pearl beach or umina.I doubt any of the sydney beaches fish that well the boys have pulled a few out of there swanos jew was a cracker. We will find out eventually dont worry. Cheers Steve
  14. Let me know how you go.Look for weed patches in amongst the sand and you will have a better chance. As the wall is quite long you have to move around until you locate some fish some days its a donut but thats fishing.Dont know about the winter months but you have to try. Steve
  15. Gooday raiders I have a couple of old rods where the runner feet are just starting to become visible like the runner threads have weakened because the coating has deteriorated.I want to recoat them but dont know which product to use.I have some marine varnish in the garage but I think I need some epoxy and if so where can I buy these items which tackle store can help me with this.I live in Ashfield any ideas would be appreciated. Cheers Steve
  16. What area of rosebay are you fishing mate?.I fish there in the summer months and do okay on the whiting and bream at times.I am fishing of the seawall along new south head road and fish only night and early morning around high tide using worms and give it away about 2 hours after sunrise.Hope this helps to avoid the pest fish. Cheers steve

  18. Gooday Raiders Had a day off work during the week and took advantage of the glorious weather we were having.I arrived at my usual rock spot to find the swell was non existent. So plan B was hatched were do I go now had to find some wash.So tried another spot which is only fishable in very small seas as the ledges are at water level.Got there just on high tide around 9.00am and I am glad there were a couple of other fishos there for safety. Anyway I rigged up and asked the guys how they were doing and they had a couple of fish and told me it was dead and they were going to give it away.I found a reasonable wash and drifted out and my float got slammed almost immediately and landed my first good fish for the day,and the rest is history.Fish after fish and within a couple of hours I had bagged out.I gave the guys a few fish and I kept a few for the family and relatives.I left them biting to the dismay of the other anglers.I showed them a few techniques one bloke even wanted to buy a float of me so I gave him one for next time.I was home by lunchtime. The location was the southern rocks of Sydney. Cheers Steve
  19. Gooday Raiders I went fishing today for flathead throwing some lures around unfortunately didnt get any fish.As I dont lure fish that often and am not familiar with all the characteristics of my new rod can someone tell me what the maximum lure weight rating would be for this rod.I dont want to overload the rod with a heavy lure.Today I was using squidgies between 6 and 10 grams and it felt okay.Your thoughts would be much appreciated.I am sure a lot of you own the same rod.I coudnt find any information on the Pflueger website in regards to this. Cheers Steve

  22. Good one stormy.Looks like they are starting to fire up.I have been doing alright also on the north and south side.Check out my report. If you want to have a fish some day PM me as I am on holidays at the moment and would enjoy the company. Cheers Steve
  23. I finally managed to put up a post of my fishing trips over the last month.Fished back in February yeah I know it is ages ago.Fished on the south side rocks for 13 blackfish strangely the fish have been biting down that way for quite a while now havent bombed out yet.I Normally fish the harbour but as the weed is scarce have resorted to the rocks and quite frankly not missing the harbour scene much. My next expedition was yesterday down at my old stomping grounds at North Head near Bluefish with good conditions nice wash and safe swell just under a metre.Started fishing around 8.00am and left around 1.00pm for 16 blackfish kept 10 for the table. The fish were very thick which makes me think they are spawning again as there were plenty of males in milt so I am going to be hitting it hard until around June July. The fish were really slamming the baits and very hungry quite suicidal. As I had so much fun yesterday I decided to try the south side today again and ended up with 8 fish all happily released.Gee I am glad to be on holidays. Cheers Steve [
