  1. The octo jigs are great and what you can actually pick up on them is unbeleivable, great thing is if your drifting with one of those jigs and you see a school bust up in casting distance just put the rod in the holder and it will still catch fish while your spinning I reckon they're magic.
  2. Hi raiders, I was lucky enough to get out twice over this week, once in my trailer boat the other in my little river boat... Ooohh I'm lucky aren't I lol, Well Monday I was struck with a sudden and horrible case of "fishing pox" so I went to my mates place to pick my trailer boat up (gotta keep it at his place because it won't fit past the carport at mine) and me and him launched at parsley bay, we went out through broken bay trolling for nothing then decided to put the octo jigs down over the valiant.... Well long story short 15 reds all sub legal but we scored some good mowies which was ok, then a flatty drift through the middle ground of BB for 4 good sized flathead so that wasn't bad for 4 hours worth of fishing, Then Monday night the missus hatched a plan to have a girls evening with her sis in law so I in turn hatched a plan for some bass fishing in my old ski boat I bought for a bargain. So we launched at Windsor and well long story short 3 hours fishing with lures in the dark for 1 15cm bass.. But it was a first for me so it still has a silver lining Didn't set the world on fire but I had fun!
  3. Sounds like good fun! Longy is not the greatest ramp lol we tried launching the Haines signature there once..... That was an experience lol even more fun when heading back and the winds picked up lol
  4. I'm throwing my hat in for eastern blue spot, they get alot bigger than most people think. Regardless great catch!
  5. 1000% Goliath grouper, And if your mate snapped it he must lucky to get on chew on this charters with cap Ben chancey, I've seen that photo numerous times now it's over 8 foot long and 800lb so it's a pretty famous photo
  6. Bled straight away and iced tgey
  7. Hey raiders, On the 10th and 11th of November me and my wife and another couple have decided to let someone else drive the boat and do 2 half day charters, we've got a pretty wide area to choose from we're looking at between south west rocks and jervis bay anyone got any reccomended charters? PM reply only please and no game fishing charters just reef and sport Cheers raiders! Brett
  8. Easiest lures in the world to troll bud, put em back about 30 metres or more behind the boat and between 3 and 6 knots works a treat, we bagged 8 Bonnie's and 3 big tailor doing this on the weekend... Best part is after you have hooked up knock the boat in neutral and crank the remaining lures in and if your using threadline you can have a spin while your mate handles his fish, action breeds action!
  9. Have you looked at the silstar legacy spin combo's?? My partner has the 8foot version and when I'm spinning from the rocks I pinch that combo alot... Bout 140 bucks I know unsaid nothing under 9 foot but it's an option to get you started
  10. Huntleys point wharf usually has some fish hanging off it but they're are ferries to contend with
  11. We had a cracking session on them at smiths creek as well as a school of kings came through which was a massive eye opener,
  12. Rule 3 if you don't know the seas don't go fishing
  13. Hey mate definately leather jackets there, huge schools of them, they will destroy tackle, lures, jigs, terminal tackle and whatever else gets fed down to them!
  14. Hey mate manly fishes ok it's productive at times a few mates of mine regularly fish there and every so often they get a good size Jew or 2, dunno bout hammerheads its a little to cold for them but some smaller whalers should be around, only downside to bottom bashing for sharks is you will get alot of rays as well but in their own right on light gear they're fun too I suppose
  15. I've shark fished around Scotland island a few times always done well there but havnt heard of a reef I'd be really interested in this too!
  16. I don't think killing off the website is a good idea at all!! But opening a Facebook page would open the site up to a broader audience, alot of magazines have a website as well as a FB page would be a good idea but juggling both would be tough, upside though would open the site up so much and the spOnsors can be linked to the page so they would get slot more exposure as well,
  17. Illawong bay mate, you gotta fish fairly close to the Rockwall for them but they're usually in abundance round there, they are nice bite sized ones too around 10cm or so
  18. Hi mate, You've left it kinda late to start catching sharks they generally like the warmer water that being said though they are still around just not in great numbers, broken bay and pittwater both produce at times pretty much where you'll catch Jews in those areas sharks will hang around too, berley is the key and lots of it. Some area to start looking into in those areas would be flint and steel, west head and around Scotland island they're great fun on light tackle for the smaller models. Use fairly large flesh baits on wire trace or you can try heavy mono leader with circles which will still keep you in the chance for Jews too. In the harbour a another good spot is dobroyd headland that holds numbers at times. When fishing for them I usually have 3 baits out one floating under a balloon one mid water depth and one on the bottom, if your really keen try a live salmon or Tailor fished under a balloon, that makes for some wicked surface strikes at times.
  19. Pretty hard without a photo but one standing question I can throw up does the bark when ur handling them?? If so I'm pretty confident it's a form of swell shark fairly common and they taste like crap that's fermented
  20. Yeah Al mcglashan found it last Friday, seems the news papers are a bit slow on the uptake lately
  21. Hi mate if your trying to bottom bash with these off the rocks I have no experience in doing so as usually there's reef and the rest off the ledges, Otherwise I find pink and purple the most effective I've caught Jews, kings, snapper and other by catch on them they're essentially a paternoster rig with flash on them another great tip is to feed a glow bead over the hook up to the eye, just adds to the bling! Sorry I can't offer more hope I helped a little
  22. I know *** carry them for sure, Out in the western suburbs where I am nearly every tackle shop I visit carry the 1kg box
  23. +1 for navionics Live it works great! I use weather zone think it was 2 bucks off the top of my head and also another app called the fishing mate that app is always getting updated and has some good GPS points marked in
