  1. Go beach fishing ha ha ha ha You'll do better had 3 mates go up ther and theyve done doughnuts so far in the last week
  2. Looks more like a short finned pilot whale to me. Blowing up the pic helps.
  3. Kinda hard to tell without a rough size gauge, looks like a mako to me dorsal is the right angle.
  4. Mate the beach is the go for the smaller sharks and just fish the same way you would for a Jew, but add in some wire trace big oily bait like striped tuna will do fish the gutters and you'll get one sooner than later
  5. To be honest mate as long as you have a line in the water your in for a chance but I couldn't see why it wouldn't work. Cut your strips close to one end to make them look like tentacles works on kings....
  6. Mate skip the harbour and head to broken bay. Football field sized schools of them good size too bout 1.5-2kg
  7. This'll start arguments but doesn't matter what safety gear u got u fall 8 metres ur gunna get hurt. Unless we are supposed to start wearing helmets fishing
  8. I know for a fact they are braining the big Jew on the port macquarie break wall now 2 blokes in my fishing club went on Sunday smallest they've nailed is 9kg been a nightly affair raincoats n all biggest I was 21kg they've released all bar one 14kg specimen for BBQ I hate them right now I really do
  9. Go get em girl!! That's pretty good going! Id be happy cause I'm still learning to use softies too.
  10. Cheers for the heads up mate heard there is some surface action around at the moment. The little guys are fascinated with sharks and 60cm is easily managed so fingers crossed
  11. Hey raiders taking my nephews out this weekend weather permitting. And I kinda promised them we'd go catch some baby hammerheads I know they're around just curious as to what the fishings like at Juno point lately??
  12. Heard it from a water pollution expert don't eat resident fish like bream, fish that move around are all good but consider how long they've been in the area, essentially don't eat flathead or bream that's the bottom line
  13. Winnie isn't a waste of time any day of the week! If you beat the crowds and u know the ledges it's well worth it!! There have been consistent reports out of Winnie but no one speaks of them, they've been braining the kings down there!
  14. Mate never under estimate the greed of a big king they will chomp down huge baits.. I wouldn't worry bout the size of the bonnies unless they're 2kgs and above
  15. You guys have it all wrong... Your doing it all ass about face!!! Why would you go out in 30+ metres of water and try dragging one of the hardest fighting fish up from down that deep when you can do it closer to shore??? I'd much rather be pulling up tasty easy fighting jackets from down deep muuuucccchhhhhhh easier!!!!!!!
  16. Gives me an excuse to go on a road trip down to Victoria to lol... Thanks for all the replies guys as I said I'm no expert but again thank you for your help very appreciative
  17. Hey raiders after some calls and wheeling dealing I managed to secure a 70hp for just a little extra than the 35hp
  18. The fishing bible by al mcglashan, not a bad book gIves you plenty of alternatives, retails around 40 bucks I think.. It's a handy thing that covers everything from lake to offshore fishing, from bait to plastics and everything in between
  19. Hey raiders my mate is changing his motor on his 15 foot fiberglass boat from his problem ridden 74model 50hp my question is the motor he wants is a 35hp model is this enough to push it around? Doesn't need to be at light speed but faster than walking pace would be nice My boat n motor came as a package so I don't really have a clue
  20. You'll never find out if you don't ask mate I don't mind sharing was anchored directly under the freeway bridge, 3rd section over from the south side
  21. Hey raiders took my mates boat out today as mine is getting a whole new bunch of electronics fitted and tuned, We fished from mooney bridge to danger drifting for nothing then tried plastics at the rail bridge for nothing then another drift for another zero at this point I said let's just anchor under the mooney bridge cause I'm gunna have a nap in the shade. So we did and I half heartedly grabbed a fresh prawn from the esky and chucked it on, first cast and I'm just getting comfortable when I hear ZZZzzzzzzzzz wow I'm on picked rod up and yup there's weight then nothing and after a few choice words the lines tight again but under the boat now instead of behind as before WHAT THE?? Back into the fight and after a little mucking bout I boards my first day time Jewie he measured at 52cm so to say I was happy is an understatement after that the nap idea was put to rest and we caught another 3 Jews but they were all cute lil babies lol so now I'm driving home with a grin thinking to myself I should nap while fishi g more often ha ha ha
  22. Hey guys kinda curious to have a crack at trapping lobsters was thinking broken bay and the surrounds might be worth a shot but where and how do you get them Not asking for specific spots just what to look for and what kinda trap
  23. Ha ha it's a well known spot I fish there quite regularly but to be honest guys I don't really target Jews.. So there's no competition outta me... Im still targeting my 4kg tailor it will come eventually... Eventually
  24. I know exactly where that is! Thank you!
  25. Guys if so many people have a problem with flatties being kept over a certain size then jump on the fisheries site and voice your opinion and let everyone know you want a maximum size limit enforced. Simple. Great fish mate woulda loved to be at that BBQ
