  1. Hey raiders thinking of leaving the boat at home this weekend and doing some spinning / live baiting from the rocks at avoca this weekend.. Just after some heads up on what's been around? And how are the blackies biting up there?? Any info muchly appreciated Tight lines Brett
  2. I'd be sticking with a bull shark for the clean cut. Happens plenty after pupping season and the crushed one I'd hazard to guess it could be a PJ
  3. It's not hawkesbury but in pittwater careel bay southern side at the entrance we always get a few
  4. You guts did better than me, best I managed was a 40cm flathead. Whiting were not to be found and no matter what we did the larger bream didn't wanna play, ahh well fingers crossed for the mystery prize ha ha ha
  5. That would be a pike eel if I'm not mistaken
  6. Hi raiders, I've been promising a great uncle of mine a black fishing session, but truth be told he can't rockfish he's 87 and he gets terribly sea sick. He used to live up at port macquarie and had a ball chasing blackies up there I need to take him somewhere in the harbour that's easily accessible I need help with this one I'm not after a secret spot just somewhere he might catch one or two.. The old guy loves his fishing and it frustrates him with his age he can't do it more often so any help here would be greatly appreciated
  7. Those waxwings are deadly, I've caught so many fish on those lures it's shameful. They out fish any other lure in my tackle box 2 fish to 1 easily. I've caught whiting, flathead, bonito, tailor, kings, frigates, bream, bass and ep's on them in different sizes they're just a quality lure
  8. G'day raiders just curious as to what people have decided to target for the pirtek challenge this year? With NSW getting bread and butter species bream, flathead, whiting and bass just wondering what people will be spending there time fishing for Me personally I'm going to target some big duskies and if that doesn't work a deep drift for some big sandies
  9. Take it there are no yakkas in the lake ha ha ha
  10. Yeah that's cool totally gives me a chance to plan an attack whether I go north south or stay local. Avoiding the crowds will be the biggest deal
  11. Just received my gear earlier today, was quite surprised to see they released the species list early this year,
  12. Hey guys heading up to Lake Macquarie on Friday for a weekend if fishing. What I wanna know is where can I get some live yakkas from? Ill be in a boat so moving around is no problems. Never really fished the area before so figured I'd ask some locals!' Cheers guys tight lines Brett
  13. Cheero point mate, right out in front it drops off to 25 foot I've pulled a few schoolers from there on live yellowtail.
  14. I'm in no way implying to remove fishing chat, a lot of members don't post reports for one reason or another be it lack if time or what not, some guys ask questions to see if its worthwhile heading where they are planning, and although the search function is great but for examples sake when we were in drought mode searches might turn up very different stories, alot if guys never bother with fishing chat they tag their questions onto reports, I do understand the stance on reports is for reports but I can see the flip side of the coin
  15. It's a hard call, I don't mind people asking whats happening where in fishing reports cause really I don't look at fishing chat overly too much, if replies get made that have depth and volume to them and the thread doesn't get taken over then is there really a harm??
  16. Hey raiders, My fishing club is doing a weekend away in march to Swansea, and honestly I've got no clue on the area.. That time if year what should I be targeting in the lake? What's some general area info I've got GPS marks for outside drifting but nothing for inside the lake, I know there are some locals on here so any info would be good ill be fishing from my boat anything would really help We will be staying in the caravan park near coin island
  17. That was manly lagoon, the rumours have been flying around for a long time about that, still never seen a photo to prove it
  18. Currently there are loads and loads of jewies from well undersized to about 60cm the tiny ones will start to annoy you on your bream baits but feed Down a livie at any if the places you mentioned as well as the bridges on one if the tide changes and your in for a good chance
  19. +1 for that I put more effort into catching the bait than I do the actual fish, whether it be Jews, flathead, snapper or kings fresh bait collection is part of the process. In saying that I'd advise try lures and be happy with what you get whether that be bonito, tailor or salmon and you'll get rewarded sooner or later with a king
  20. Tonnes of them in pittwater on Saturday had a group of 20+ demolish a squid on my jig before I could even reel it in!
  21. Hey yeah I'm all good dude. Everyone asks that question and its no different than living together lol. And yeah I'm out on the boat most weekends when I'm not out with the fishing club.
  22. Kings can only get better from there!! Next you'll be out all night squidding, then you'll be chasing hoodies!!
  23. Hey raiders, took a holiday down to Victoria to visit my old man decided to take the boat as well and fish lake nillahcootie with some hard bodies and spinners Been here 3 days have had absolutely cracking weather the entire time we've caught in excess of 40 golden perch with keeping 5 for the table some great fish up to 47cm, we've lost count on the Redfin ( my favourite eating ) We've kept plenty of them for the table, 6 murray cod smallest going 54cm biggest just over 87cm all released to fight another day, and today the weirdest catch of the trip while working a downed tree with a frog imitation hardbody i thought/ hoped id hooked another great fish but we were both as shocked as hell when it finally surfaced that i'd hooked a 4.5kg carp on a lure made us rethink about what we know on carp. that fish is currently feeding dads chickens lol, we have been completely thrilled with the fishing down here with plenty of laughs and beers mixed in me and dad are having a ball he's now hunting for his own boat! With 1 day left to fish before I head back to Sydney we will be happy to just have another good day on the water. I'm going to have to do this freshwater stuff more often! Photos to come I'm on my iPhone at the moment so can't upload Tight lines raiders! Cheers Brett
  24. Banjo sharks not eagle rays, you'll know when you hook an eagle ray, they actually give a good account if themselves, tail flesh is the best meat on them the wing flesh goes well boil with egg noodles and Thai curry
