  2. Hi all , just a quick post ... Day went one king every half hour or so, bait used strip squid and saltwater Gulp in SATAY CHICKEN... Most fish were 70cm with the best landed at 76cm.Did get smoked hard on a 4000 size reel and locked drag ...Dam it was a beast. The spot was right at the tip of the oil wharf at kurnell and water temp was 19.6c....:-)
  3. They make a top bait for most fishies..
  4. I had a crack at them last night and did ok with two calamari ...and 1 arrow suiddy. Got them in the bay off the rocks around la-perouse .
  5. Went for a spin on the bike today at 12 and was up on the road way having a smoke and the amount of fish or should say the size of the school was huge. They were very very close to the break wall concrete blocks with the odd mullet jumping out ,but as for surface action was next to zero. Tryed to get a pic on the iphone but it was to far away and hopping on those blocks wouldnt have been a great idea in motorcycle boots. They are there if any one is keen to have a crack at them.
  6. Nice run of fish well done......and there is a fair bit of rays in the bay at the moment.
  7. @mr king.....80lb leader is a bit high, try half that and the hook up rate should be better, the rod reel combo you mentioned is really good and don't strike if your on circle hooks. I have a mate who is a land lover and sure as hell kicks my ass in the fishing department.
  8. Catch fresh squid and use them for your bait.....use quality hooks....no less than 5/0 make sure your reel has a smooth drag opreation and your in the running for a king....and not only king love a fresh squid bait...good luck kid and post it when your king mission is done.
  9. Hehe its not my first legal king what a ment to say was the rats got out the way this year for once........and the weight my guess was about 5-6kilo.
  10. Hello raiders Happy about this one as its broken our drought in the legal size kingy department. It went 84cm and took a lolly-pop size squid on a double hook snelled rig.
  11. I was out there today also and rat kings were on the chew at the drums......nothing to take home for tea at all.
  12. Go the the Cooksy Well done and it should be a ripper of a season with all the dredging work completed from the bay.
  13. I have the same sounder mate and its been many a fishing days since ive seen such a reading like yours in Botany Bay.Last year was just unbelievable and im just gutted this year as our expectations and hopes for a better one have been pumped down the shita with all the work that had to be done in the bay. I guess the bright side we all got a great new boat-ramp from it all, and there is always next year.......cheers
  14. Ok this one did like to eat a prawn, and it was a very very slimey fish
  15. Hi mate ,got to ask what types of hooks are you using? As a rule a dont use anying smaller than a 6/0 for live baiting and give them a chance to suck it down.
  16. Hi all, cant help but wonder why is the water temp so high in the bay,im getting readings of 26 to 27.5 and have never seen this before. This time last year the bay was giving up kings to 1m. Is it the decal or the all the works that went into it the past year. There was a fishing report in the tele-graph last Tuesday and it stated big kings at molly point ,drums, and hot water which i reckon was a bullcrap report to pump the average fisho and get them in to sell them bait.Back at the ramps every one was asking anyone, did anyone get one, which sent all out for none.............
  17. He was such a nice gold color kinda makes me think hes spent some time in the kelp beds, i have another pic of him but having trouble posting it.......
  18. Yes he did fight dirty and got around my anchor rope.
  19. Yea got this in the bay last week and it kinda looks like a golden trev

  23. Hi craig, ive found that the first 10 meters or so after couple of fishing trips it wears away and gets a furry texture to the line. As far as getting it off the line while spooling, never heard of it. Steve....
