  1. Had a plan to hit the Kingies so arrived at Parsley Bay @ 4.00am and headed straight out to Bangalley head. Plenty of Yakkas and so far was looking very promising but as time went on no Kingies. Only managed one stray at 80cm. Things were extremely quiet so decided to head around the corner and berley hard for some Bream in St Micheals Cave. Within 10mins my young fella was on and brought up a healthy 35cm Bream. The next 2 hours were unreal one Bream after another, spose these are the spawning fish starting to make their run into the Hawkesbury. All up caught 12 in total of which we kept 6. All fish caught on Yakka fillets wouldn't take anything else!! As the sun go higher went down to Long Reef and managed 5 Reds ranging from 40cm to 60cm. Been quite a while since I've caught a Red that size. All in all a great day, calm seas great weather and best of all fresh fish on the barbeque. Sorry no pics this time my young fella forgot the camera
  2. Going to hit Broken Bay and see if I can rustle up some Kings. Heard report of some good Bonnies being taken around the hole in the wall!!
  3. This has been an ongoing problem at this ramp, maybe we could get a petition going to the council to get some cameras installed. I wouldn't mind paying a small fee to have the piece of mind that all will be safe upon return. On another note please keep an eye on your boat while cleaning your fish etc as on a number of occassions while I've been cleaning fish and parked the boat up near the toilet block had scum trying to swipe a rod off the boat. I just can't believe how game they are, the last time I got the satisfaction of getting a boot into one of them. If your not alone get someone to sit in the boat.
  4. Keep us posted, should do well as the water temp is right up there!
  5. We should see some interesting reports next week
  6. Has anyone seen the current water temp outside 25c http://www.mhl.nsw.gov.au/www/wave_temp.htmlx I can't remember the last time we have had these sort of temps Bugger I can't get out as who knows what this current will bring Anyone planning a session?
  7. Sounds like the spring on the clicker has either dislodged or broken. You could try and order the part and replace it but I suggest you send it back to an authorised Shimano service agent. I've attached a link to a service manual that will give you and idea on how many parts your looking at if you try to tackle it on your own.
  8. Guys I spooled up my livebait outfit with 30lb of Vanish and was quite happy as it caught 4 Kings on it on Monday. I found it quite soft and easy to tie. I spose time will tell.
  9. Thanks for the kind comments fello Raiders, no report this weekend but hopefully getting out the wekkend after. Tight Lines
  10. Left Brooklyn @ 4.30am with a buddy from work who brought his boat as well and made the dash out to the bommie at Bangalley Head. I anchored in close and he was a bit further out. Managed to pick up a few Yakkas between the Sweep, man they were in plague proportions. The yakkas just couldn't get to the bait before the Sweep. Anyway I dropped out a livie and things were quiet for a while when I heard my buddy call out his son hooked a Kingie on a Sluggo. Then my livebait goes off and my buddy is hooked up on his flygear YES what a sight I should of taken a photo I though he was going to snap it but got it in. For the next 2 hours we had a blast with the Kings. I ended up keeping 2 and my buddy kept 2. Things went quiet so decided to head out to the fish traps @ Esmeralda but couldn't find them. I tried both my recent marks but weren't there. (Anyone know where they are ?) Bottom bounced a bit for nothing, looked like a graveyard. Then headed in closer to Reggies and the damm Chinaman Leather Jackets were in form with nothing else. Ah my buddy picked up a nice Lizard approx 55cm. The water must be cold down there for them to be around this time of year. Then did a drift in close to Palm, nothing for me but he pickup a real nice flounder again . All in all great day and definately better than being at work This is my first posting with pics as I just got the camera so hopefully they will improve after a few posts. My young fella with a rat Pod of Dolphins that was working a school of fish for a good 20mins
  11. It's horses for courses don't mean to bag the Stejcraft but I would pick the Viking anyday but I know it is dearer. Have you considered a Allison, a mate of mine has the Fisherman 189 and it is a great boat and are priced better than the Viking. He was in the same dilema and picked the Allison and is extremely happy. http://www.allisonboats.com.au/ What about the 6mt MAC cuddy cabin $32,999, certainly caught my eye? http://www.macboats.com.au/
  12. Working this weekend but heading out on Monday on Broken Bay. Just got a digital camera so hopefully I will have some pics for my report.
  13. I've alway had a nicname but never really had it painted on the sides, although I'm considering it with this boat as my wife has named it the BITCH as she has given up competing with her
  14. Great fish good to see and don't bother with all the detail, got to leave something to ponder about
  15. Was wondering if any Fishraiders have any comments good/bad on these propellors. Currently have a Savage Osprey running a Honda 90 and needs a new prop reving too high and could do with more top end speed. Was looking at the Solaris 4 blade props and then noticed the propulse props but have not heard much about them and haven't seen any boats with one? Many Thanks, Spic
  16. I must say so far everyone seems great in that all interested in making a more pleasurable experience alround. I've got a Savage Osprey white/blue in colour with a 90Honda, can't really miss it as I have a unique cutting board that I made looks a bit like the ones on the Quinnies painted white. I'm so lucky my 14yr old loves fishing as well as surfing so we we have best of both worlds, if the seas are up and can't get out in the boat we hit the surf. You should of seen how proud he was when he passes his test and got his juniors boat license,, yes I'm a proud day. My younger son loves fishing but not quite comfortable outside as yet. Bit hard to get up in the morning at 3.00am I'm quite fortunate that my dad loved fishing but mostly landbased and he's now retired and all 3 of us have a blast together thats granddad, son and grandson. What a great way to spend quality time together and catch up on things. I just hope my son doesn't loose interest as it would be great to have this as a common interest. Enough bragging all I can say that I've found that fishing has just kept us all together great experience. I'm off on Sunday to Coffs for 2 weeks, yes 2 weeks of fishing no boat but will stick to the beaches. Will post a comprehesive report up when I get back and hopefully I'll get my digital camera so I can start posting photos with reports. Cheers, Spic
  17. Thanks. I've been a Fishnetter for a while and thought I'd join you guys as well. Your right no amount of money can replace that look sound and feeling
  18. Thats okay, try the eastern side of Palm beach just in from the headland or even on the western side just south of the Pill Box. As a last resort I'll always get some right at the northern end of Palm Beach, just can get a bit bumpy and need to be carefull as you need to get in close to get them here.
  19. Heading up for a 2 week stay and was hoping someone could advise what's the beach scene like at the moment. I was up at Arrawarra last year and did okay on the Whiting but no go on Jew. Many Thanks, Spic
  20. Thanks About time I had a good one the last few have been pretty ordinary, although I did have a good session with school Jew at Berrorwa just before Christmas
  21. New to Fishraider and thought I'd get my 1st report up. Got on the water early and proceeded to Pittwater to catch some squid. Headed to Bangalley Head before sunrise to fish the bommie for Kings, 1st up plenty of Sweep and Yellowtail. Just as the sun started to rise had a school of Tailor bust the surface and for the next 10 mins it was on for young and old, they all seemed to be in the 38-40cm range. Things went quiet for a while and then we saw a few rat Kings in the berley trail and buggers were in a fussy mood, tried everything and the old small unweighted prawn seemed to be the flavour of the morning. Between 3 of us we caught 14 Kings of which we kept 2 @ 80cm, most of the fish were @ 50cm and were all released. My 14 yr old son had a blast using his 6lb outfit and to his credit didn't drop one fish. I don't think I've ever heard a small reel work that hard As the sun got higher the action abruptly ended and decided to see if we could score a few pan sized Reds. Headed out to Reggies and only bait fish, tried various marks at Boultons same result then headed out wider in 60mt of water and bagged out on Chinaman Leather Jackets. The water must be cold down there for them to be around such numbers, anyway decided to call it a day. All in all great day out and just to see my son so proud and excited with his Kingi encounter really makes it special. Tight lines Spic
