  1. While fishing on weekend I caught a decent sized flathead which took a bit of line off the baitrunner. Now when I engage the freespool mode the reel does not make the rachet noise as line is stripped. The baitrunner is a Bannax 4000 size. Is this easy to fix or should I return it to the manufacturer to fix?
  2. Fished at Blackwattle Bay Glebe from high tide down for about 3 hours, caught a 55cm flathead, two bream just undersize and 3 snapper of about 25 cms all went well on the 4 lb line. I also almost landed my first SP flathead but he spat the softie when I was lifting him to the shore. It will be interesting to see if the snapper hang around to reach legal size (not that it matters at the moment given the dioxin scare).
  3. I've been using the Tortue nacrylon (14lb) and Platypus braid (4lb) without problems, they don't fluff or separate like hot bonded braid and seem to work well with a locked blood. The Platypus is a little easier on the back pocket, I've only been topshotting with nacrylon. I use a locked half blood knot with about 10 wraps. Cheers
  4. Hi Breeze I have to agree with the general concensus that the enviroment can come back. The Parramatta river was almost considered a dead river in the 80's but has come back in a big way. I mostly fish at Glebe and have seen the area change from catching a couple of bream and leatherjacket to oysters coming back on the rocks and catching bream, flathead, whiting, flounder, trevally, tailor and some guys say mulloway night fishing. There are also many small snapper in Blackwattle Bay and hopefully these will provide larger versions in the harbour and offshore in the future.
  5. I started freshwater fishing in Canada when I was 3 and probably stopped when I was 14, in Australia I have only started saltwater fishing in the last 5 years. That would be 16 years all up.
  6. Hi all, recently joined and usually fish Blackwattle Bay. I'm looking to fish some other areas without having to travel too far from the city. I'm looking at Nielson Park. Does anyone have any tips, suggestions for fishing there or other landbased areas in the Lower Sydney Harbour? Cheers
