  4. Please add me as landbased. I'll make sure I don't stuff up like I did for the Jewie social. Evil
  5. Yeah good call, really quality feeling reel. Loaded with 10lb braid.
  6. I thought I caught a clump of weed, at least it had the decency to bite itself off the leader instead of me having to cut it off they always seem to swallow the hook.
  7. Back from holidays and back on the computer to relieve the work day. Fished Rose Bay wharf last week and only picked up a largish puffer fish, although my mate caught a few undersize snapper and a legal size bream. There were still lots of little leather jackets around by the looks of my bait. I threw a bit of thoroughly munched squid into the water and then watched 10-15 Kingies shadow the bait into the depths, they wouldn't have a bar of the squid but it was a few days old. We couldn't tempt any bait fish to congregate either (probably because there were a shitload of kingies sitting under the wharf) as soon as the sun fully rose they disappeared. Pity we couldn't get them to bite but nice to see them in numbers already, the largest were probably just over the 60cm mark although it was a bit hard to tell, given how quick they grow they will all be legal before long. Cheers Evil They fight like an old boot but aren't as usefull
  8. As the Jewie social is just a week away I was wondering if the veterans can give us newbies to jewfishing a heads up on techniques and rigs to use. Also wondering what gear everyone is taking. I have read Ken's article on Jewies and it's a good start http://www.fishraider.com.au/articles/jewfish/ Cheers Evil
  9. Hi Kingys I usually use a running sinker on braid and haven't noticed it particularily wearing the line, I run a plastic bead between the sinker and the swivel because you will get wear from the sinker banging the knot. As domza said just keep an eye on it which you should anyway as you'll get wear from the line rubbing on underwater obstacles anyway. Cheers Evil
  10. Nice catch, I envy the fishing up your way. Cheers
  11. Waiting on Flattieman to give us the definitive type of Puffer. Evil
  12. Hey squizzytailor, nice flattie. Cheers Evil
  13. I've been told by pros that Inox won't harm the line unlike WD40. Will look into Reel Care.

    Banax

I have a Banax reel and the baitrunner feature failed, took it back to the shop where I bought it. They replaced the main body free of charge. (ie they gave me my original spool back) I don't know what's going on but I've got to say the service from Shimano, Okuma and now Banax has been exemplary. I only have reels by Jarvis Walker, Abu and Daiwa left that haven't had to have something repaired (knock on wood) but I haven't really put them through their paces yet. Has anybody else noticed an increase in service from the manufacturers? Evil
  21. Happy birthday peoples, I will endeavour to have a couple lagers for you this evening. Evil
