  1. G'day Can't give away marks because they aren't mine but we usually head a bit further north and just look for a good looking bottom, and sometimes see fish stacked up. Then burley hard and make sure you keep it going. Cheers Leo
  2. G'day I have fireline 6lb crystal on my reel and i rate it as one of the best bands i have used...hence respooling with the same braid. Cheers Leo

    Revival 525 half cab

G'day big fella how are ya? Been alright myself. Unfortunately all it says in the ad that it is a revival half cab...id never heard of the brand myself? But from what i can see 2nd handers are about the same price as they are adlib for a newy Cheers Leo
  4. G'day Found what i believe to be a good buy on a brand new ex display model, only haven't heard anything about these hulls? Any reports of anyone ridden in/own one? Cheers Leo
  5. G'day Found what i believe to be a good buy on a brand new ex display model, only haven't heard anything about these hulls? Any reports of anyone ridden in/own one? Cheers Leo
  6. G'day A mate has just bought a brand new quintrex 530 spirit and is looking to get a set of small removable outriggers for next years marlin season. Any advice on brands and a rough price including fittings would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Leo
  7. That's very true rockfisherman...also solves the problem of worms sliding down the hook Cheers Leo
  8. G'day I've caught plenty of bream on what im pretty sure is size 1 or 2 circles...its a bit hard to judge the size. For whiting i just prefer to use size 6-8 long shanks as i have never pulled in one on a circle...but i have caught plenty of bream with them. Cheers Leo
  9. Yeah i just usually end up hitting pitwater when the weed is bad...are you fishing the northern beaches? You can sometimes head to the little bay at the north end of...um mona vale i think? Cheers Leo
  10. Gday Unfortunately if the weeds around i usually try a different spot...sometimes you can just head to the other end of the beach but other times a different beach all together. I find weed is most prevalent after or during big seas which pound the rocks. I once battled a massive clump of seaweed on my jew rig for half an hour thinking i had a shark...wasn't impressed when i got a look at it Cheers Leo
  11. Gday Unfortunately nowhere is safe to leave a car these days...even right in front of your house in a quiet suburb as i unfortunately found out. But hey that's what insurance is for... On the fishing point though i used to have some luck around the bridge pylons with livies and lures. To tell you the truth always used to get a couple drifting just east of there as well. Good luck and have a great trip Cheers Leo
  12. G'day guys a bit off topic but saw a fishing show man vs fish where an aprox 80kg striped marlin was taken by a giant squid...can't remember its name but was on the fish for 2-5mins before letting go...the marlin was pretty much skinned and had some huge (roughly 300mm) beak/bite marks. Was amazing footage. Sorry once again for hijacking the post but you see some amazing stuff on the water Cheers Leo

    Sunglasses

G'day I have a pair myself. Found them pretty good for the price...but still nothing compared to my pair of bars optics. I usually use em when boating so my expensive pair don't get scratched. Cheers Leo
  14. G'day Pretty new to the game fishing scene. I have got a pretty decent selection of skirted lures but have started buying a few xraps mainly for tuna. Was wondering what's a good size leader for them without sacrificing the action of the lure? Will be running them on 24kg and 16kg tackle. Thanks in advance for the replies Cheers Leo
  15. G'day flat out Im no expert on plastics but have found you need to just have a wide range of ammunition...some days some colours will work and the next day you will get nothing. I have read in mags and on the net that you should use bright colous in discoloured or dirty water and dull colours in clean water...but this is just not always the case. I believe it depends more on the bait present in the water way (what the fish have been feeding on) it now starts to get very sciency as different colours react differently in water and then i think again in different coloured water. So i think the best bet is just having a wide variety. Hope this helps Cheers Leo
  16. It definitely makes sense in theory. Could the oil block the injectors if the car is left sitting for a while though? Cheers Leo
  17. G'day outfisher Just out of interest was is a fisheries tag? And did they comment on the infection on the fish? Cheers Leo
  18. Mate great to hear you got yourself a jewie...then 2 more. Top work big fella Cheers Leo
  19. Agree with huey 100%. Lowrance do put a lock on their products so they cannot be used os...not as big a problem with sounders as gps (metric to imperial) but have heard of gps bein locked and nothing better than a paper weight. Also had a mate get a cheap gps off a mate of a mate who worked for the aussie supplier for navman. Got a great cash price for a unit which failed 2 years later and no one in sydney would fix it as he didn't have a reciept Cheers Leo
  20. G'day Went for a quick fish yesterday arvo about lunch time in middle harbour for a few hours. The weather report wasn't looking good but the thought of hooking a few and rain jacket was enough to get me out the door. Got to the 'secret spot' about 1 and it was beautiful but didn't take long before the weather front moved in...and soon after the rain started so did the fish. We were fishing with pillies, the pick was fillets, but the fish were warrier than normal and very hard to hook but after a few tackle changes ended up with 2 nice trevs, 1st about 350mm, 2nd bout 450. First trevallys i've ever hooked outside of townsville (you're doing something wrong if you can't hook em up there...plague proportions) so overall a good arvo...apart from the weather but you can't win em all Cheers Leo
  21. Also make great sushimi when fresh Cheers Leo
  22. G'day From what i have heard lots of guys have had tried graphite rods (of all different brands) and snapped them on the rocks and gone back to fiberglass. I personally have always stuck with glass rods as it only takes a small knock to put a hairline fracture in carbon rods and although i haven't caught anything too big off the rocks id hate to finally hook something decent and lose it to rod faiure. That's just me though Cheers Leo

    Braid or Mono

G'day My best piece of advice i can give you is go and but a pool noodle...the foam things and cut it up into pieces you can fit in your bag. Then whenever you're bored sit there and tie up a stack of rigs and wrap them around the noodle. Some of different hook/line sizes and plenty of spares and secure them with rubber bands. Then when you get a snag all you you have to do is slip a sinker on and tie to the swivel. As a newbie id recommend mono o er braid as it took me about 6 months or so to build up to it. Its just there is plenty more knots to tie...more difficult ones. They are nothing too serious just practice makes perfect. Good luck mate...drop us a pm if you need any more advice as im more than happy to help Cheers Leo
  24. Mate great report...im jealous as. Top fish there Cheers Leo
