  1. G'day all , woke up early yesterday morning ,looked like the weather might hold so decided to go fish avoca lagoon. I arrived there at around 6-30 to light rain but decided to put the yak in anyway. I entered the lagoon from the north side behind the island and headed west towards the upper part off the goon, while flicking a plastic around some snags i noticed a bottle bob up and down in the narrow channel so i paddled over thinking it was a set line. When i reached there i noticed that there was a net hanging below the bottle which was strung from bank to bank with about a metre or so off drop. As i started to pull it up i saw the first of what was to be many fish caught in this net The mullet of about 55cm was cut from the net and i moved along removing two blue swimmer crabs, then came across a large whiting of about 45cm, which unfortunately dead. Another four mullet and two more crabs were released,- as i neared the opposite bank i noticed a couple more large fish struggleing in the shallows, what i thought were more mullet were infact Estuary Prech. The first one of well over 50cm was carefully cut from the net and swum for a few minutes until it regained its strength and let to swim off, now the second one which was slightley smaller looked dead, with hazed over eyes and all ith fins torn to pieces i started to cut it out anyway then to mt amazement it gave a small kick then started thrashing about wildley untill a thumb griped it and continued cutting. After swimming the perch for around 10 min or so,it swam slowly away hopefully to fight on. On arriving home i rang fisheries and left a message - no reply as yet. Anyway if by some off chance the unsavoury characters who put the net there log in to this site from time to time ( i doubt scum like them would), attempt to put it back and you see a guy in a green kayak paddle towards you, F#*@ing run! you might just end up in the net yourself. "deep breath, breath maybe another jim beam" ahh thats better cheers Mick
  2. They are great, Especially in the goons up here on the central coast. A mate and myself went 1/2's in 8 boxes of various colours. Also The EP's in the lake love the bigger 7cm ones cheers Mick
  3. Well done tezza, what waterway were you fishing on Wyong or Ourimbah ? I was up Wyong about 2 weeks ago and got totally smoked by a good bass that draged my kayak about 3 meters on a locked up drag into the snags. Haven't fished there since i found a nice lilly pad covered lagoon full of very dark coloured bass willing to hit what ever you through at them. cheers Mick
  4. The dam (pond) is only open to fishing on sundays from 0900-1700hrs and costs $12,it used to be open at 0700 but nobody was showing up that early.I have fished there twice the first time with lures from 0700-1100 with not a touch, the guy there said you dont get too many on lures. The next time we took frozen prawns and chicken fillets and caught 2 cod to 60cm 2 golderns to 50cm one silver and one catfish. So if youve got nothing better to do its ok but i wont be rushing back in a hurry. cheers Mick
  5. Hit the goon this morning with tony(ratking) for 30 odd bream to 38cm in 3hrs all on squidgie 70mm flick baits. It was sorta like sight fishing, you could see the bream chasing prawns around,so you just had to land the plastic in the area for a hit. ps: I think the earlier the better for the social. cheers Mick
  6. It looks like swansea breakwall looking south in the second shot,so i will say swansea breakwall. cheers Mick
