  1. Hey Hodgey, I work in the film and television industry and GoPros have revolutionised the world of rigging mini cameras for fx shots and we use them every week They get great results but are finicky. If you want to use it primarily as a stills camera i would not recommend it over a dedicated stills camera. Firstly the gopro has a fixed lens which is very wide angle approx 120 degrees. Secondly, the Gopro out of the box does not have any sort of screen to review shots taken on the run. You can buy a screen but it is an add on and does not fit into the waterproof housing. Another thing about the Gopros is that if you are using them for underwater work, you must make sure to get a flat faced housing not the original round one. the round one does not focus underwater very well at anything further than about 2 feet. They are awesome little cameras but not as easy to use as digital stills cameras. They are best suited to HD video recording applications. Hope this helps, sam
  2. Top effort on a jig! I bet it was a big thud when it hit and a long way to pull it up.

Hey mate, Its a Sydney Cardinalfish.
  5. Well done! Always a Massive rush hooking one hood let alone landing two!
  6. The fish in the 2nd and 3rd pics are Spangled Emperor. I've caught a few to about 50cm in the Harbour and they are great fighters in shallow water.
  7. Great fishing! thats like the fishing in the 70's... lets hope its here to stay. sam
  8. Sounds like a top session! gotta love it when it all goes your way!
  9. Hey Mate, You came close to some Royalty... The Fish you caught were small samson fish. They are in the same family as the kingfish (seriola) and can grow to massive sizes especially in w.a. They are generally smaller in the east. still great fighters. sam
  10. Awesome Sport fishing, Sounds like an action packed session... I'm the same, i always reach for the lightest rod then half way through the battle i start thinking... i hope this fish turns around soon!
  11. Thanks for the Positive comments! I caught this brute on my Sakana Saltwater Pro rod matched to a Saltist 30 with 30lb braid and 60lb Fluro Leader. I love this combo, its always been a dream when fighting big fish. Lots of give, lots of grunt and a super smooth drag. Cheers, Sam
  12. What a beautiful fish! i would hate to be a bait fish with that thing swimming around. awesome catch, sam
  13. Hey Raiders, Well after being overseas for the last month and reading about how great Sydney has been fishing lately I finally managed to get out with a mate to chase some kings. We hit the water early and stocked up with a few Squid and some Yakkas. Its amazing how accurate squid can be even in the dark. Not happy with its new body piercing the same squid went out on the downrigger. Fishing in tight to structure the plan was to drive the boat directly out to sea should we hook up. After rehearsing this on a few rat kings taking Yakkas, the live squid got absolutely MONSTERED!!!! We both Knew this was a massive fish and after it stripped a heap of line off the reel we manage to turn its head and guide it out to sea using the boat to keep its head up. Once we were in some deeper water and not having to deal with the back wash from the cliffs I got into a comfortable position to put some hurt back on the fish. After gaining and then losing line over and over for about 15 – 20 minutes I was starting pray the hook up and knots would remain solid. Finally this big bruiser was guided into the net. My mate did an amazing job controlling the boat during the battle and this fish was 100% a team effort to land. The fish went 106cm and is a new Sydney PB for me. I cant wait for the next big Hoodlum… there are definitely some massive kings around at the moment. tight lines, Sam
