  1. how good is Gunnamatta boat ramp? I need to launch on Saturday to go out off Cronulla. 4 1/2 meter boat. Is this the best option or am i better off going out of Yowie bay. Chewie
  2. Awesome! whats the best season for them?
  3. Is that the general area around the hump or further south? Were most fish taken on the plastics worked agresivily?
  4. dont go by the drop pins or errolls track map. They were just points where we started trolling or marked bait for our reference while we were out there on the day. The contour circle on the map at the widest is Heatons hill. Around 34. 7. 654s, 151.59.738e. You are correct that your marks are off the hill directly to the north.
  5. That's feet deep on the map. I fished with erroll and we covered 210km over the water. We were at browns by 8am counted 30 boats, aimed for heatons and trolled from half way to it most off the day. Saw little bait, just no luck. Could see boats around is all day even out at heatons. Most were doing the same thing, we were waiting to hear a call out over the radio but it didn't happen.
  6. well done mate! post a pic!
  7. I fished out of Sydney harbour south along the cliffs today and looked for flatties all the way out to the 180ft line. There were jackets everywhere i stopped. really frustrating... I found they would hear the boat engine, but all stealth attempts failed. i moved around alot! Maybe fish in close under the cliffs in the washes for kings and sambos at the moment. i got sick of loosing tackle aswell.
  8. Hey mate, Don't forget your nipper pump. You can get a few at moona moona creek but watch for the marine parks. They patrol it all pretty heavily. As I told you I got great whiting bream blackfish and small salmon off hyams beach. There are plenty of flatties in the currambene creek( including a monster I spooked one night) Also have a look at the lady denman pool at Huskisson. It has massive flatties, bream, snapper etc in there for fisheries. Throw a leaf in for some surface flattie action. Would be awesome on a go pro! No fishing though. Also the stgeorges basin is one of the best big flattie fisheries around. Some big tailor and snapper get caught there too. In the bay trie for kings at the heads and snapper at the middle ground. Good luck
  9. Unlucky mate, I have been away but hope to try for some Flatties this week. I fish to the south but managed some nice big 50cm plus blue spots on plastics a few weeks ago before the hords of jackets moved in. The Jackets would hear the boat arrive and school up underneath it. If i didnt drop a bait and waited a while they tended to move on. i guess they are attracted to the commercial fishing boats by catch and hear the engines. Im hoping there is some clean salt water under all the dirty fresh on the surface.
  10. Mate, What a top weekend. The quality of fish you caught on that snapper combo was amazing. I think i might need to get one myself! The Black cod on the Gulp that bricked you, then we got back out was pretty epic. Dont forget to enter that in the lure record section! And a 97cm king on the snapper gear was AWESOME! Bring on next year!
  11. Nice, mines teamed up with the rarenium reel. beautiful!
  12. great session. the rod in the first pick looks like a berkley venom series rod. if so, what weight is it and how do you find it. I have a Black mamba for snapper and kings and love it.
  13. top haul! what sort of depth did you catch the reds in? did they take squid or another bait? assuming your cubing at anchor. beautiful place to fish down that way.
  14. had a top day today. out from rose bay at 6.30. after hearing reports of spawning squid from grouper and jenno we forwent livies and headed straight out. first squid in the tank went straight out for kings. I had a newbie on board and after the catch a squid catch a king (rats) routine wore off we went for a feed of big female squid which are stacked up along the coast now. managed 9 big air craft carriers for dinner. Then went wider and use the wind to look for flatties, (one of my favourite fishing techniques). managed 5 nice keepers to 57cm all on plastics. would have been a raider record if my mate was a member! also saw a free swimming marlin while flattie fishing wide. tried to chase but was gone by the time we were ready! doh!..
  15. i thought the black labels runners would be too small. thin rods though
  16. Never believed how jackets destroyed tackle till I started fishing 12 mile. When you drop your jig down then loose it all without a touch is heart breaking. Never noticed a toad till I was cubing for snapper then fishing floaters off Sydney. A school of toads appeared under the boat and made it apparent my 3 hours waiting for snapper had been in vain.
  17. look at a berkley black mamba. Awesome snapper rod i have teamed with a 4000 rarenium. also i just bought a Paul worsteling nano rod. great quality for the price worth checking them out. also Lox rods looked nice.
  18. Awesome job mate, glad you got that downrigger going. Your boats fishing awesome now! Its only a matter of time before i get a Dory... very jealous of you and erroll getting them this year!
  19. has anyone fished this area? I might be heading up that way in a few weeks and will have access to a boat. any tips? cheers
  20. There are some massive drummer to be caught at the Northern end. Both black and Silver drummer. Hard to land but trophy fish. As the others have said use caution out there as its very remote.
  21. I use witches hats but am not a fan of all the tangles either. Thinking of trying one off the collapsible ones. Just wondered if blue swimmers went in them as effectivly
  22. Nice effort. Do you use witches hat nets or the collapsible ones?
  23. Monster Bonnie! We managed a few big ones recently and they look so solid at that size!
