  1. Thanks for all the input Happy fishing. Hopefully the winter fishing isn't too bad
  2. What about the wind? Does anyone chase a particular species when a certain wind blows? Maybe it stirs up the bait in your fav whiting spot or calms the seas togather some bait of the rocks Cc
  3. Hi all From what I have heard some fishos get out their tide charts, check the moon phases and factor in a couple of other variables to work out the best fishing times. On the other hand there is those of us that go when we can get a leave pass. I thought it we be great if we could all chip in a few theory's / personal experience on the best time to fish we could all learn a lot. I realize it will vary for certain species and locations. I personally follow the tides and sunset and sunrise, and stay away from fishing right on full moon. I usually get zero on the exact fullmoon, however a couple of days either side has been a lot better catches CC
  4. Grat report Good to see you are sharing some of your knowledge in the report. I didn't realize the winds would have such an affect. Do the mullet and bream come back in to the estuaries or just to the beaches ? Thanks again Cc
  5. Well done Brian. It's great when a plain comes together I am yet to catch my first king ..so very jealous when I see a fine specimen like that Cheers Cc
  6. Unfortunately that is an example of what I would like to do. I'd be in heaven if I could afford a boat like that. I have been doing a lot of reading but still haven't worked-out the exact design yet however I am leaning towards the pod with swim platform/duckboard.
  7. Hi All, I have an old Prongrass Surfmaster about 4.2m and would like to put an outboard pod on with swim deck for my winter project. I have got the bulk of the material and am not too woried about the cost as such as it is more about doing a project, creating some more space on the boat, putting a larger outboard on and best of all working on it with my young boys. I would build it out of fibreglass. What I am not sure of is the hight and shape of the pod, some seeam to be more of a hull extension while other are mounted quite high. I have heard if you don't get these measurements correct you can end up with cavitation. Has anyone had a go at doing a pod or maybe you might have found some great links on the web that might help me out. Cheers, CC
  8. Hi Guys, Thanks very much for your help. Once I get out there I will definitely put a post up hopefully with a few pics of nice snapper and kings
  9. Hi all I was wondering if someone might have the land marks for the valliant, as I don't have a Gps I think knowing your land marks are also a great Thanks. Cc
  10. Hi All, Planning to go to Plantation Island for family holiday, been the keen fisho that I am I hope to wet a line. From what I have read Plantation Island isn't the best place for fishing charters so I was wondering if anyone can make some suggestions: 1) Is it worth even going on a charter from plantation Island, or is there a island closer that might have a serious charter operation. 2) Try one of the locale boys and their boat - I read on another site one guy paid $100 for about 4hrs on small boat (not a charter boat) and cleaned up. He took all his own fishing gear though. 3) Just take a light outfit to flick from the beaches? Any feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks, CC
  11. I 2nd that re any info I will be heading to pittwater this weekend in the hope of catching my first king Thanks Cc
  12. Was the marlin eaten? I have never heard of someone eating them Great catch!
  13. Well done Wyatt Good to see you are giving the old man a run for his money. What baits were you using? I haven't fished Swansea yet, but it is on the bucket list. Once again congratulations Wyatt. However it does make me cry when a 7yr would out fish me any day Cheers, Troy
  14. Hi Gary Can u explain or point me in the right direction of what you mean by a 8 second pulse. I am assuming if the swell is 1.5m it is generally bearable as long as there is enough distance between each swell. Great post
  15. Nice report....what type of lures were you using? I managed a Bonnie up that way about 2 weeks ago. Great fun when you hear the reel scream. CC
  16. I tried every trick of the trade all the raiders have provided and then some, but no kingies! From Pitwater to Barranjoe to Lion Is ,but no luck. I gave up on the kings and managed to catch my first scorpion rock cod, and manage to take home a small flatty. I did learn a few tricks a long the way, so hopefully I am one step closer Hopefully I can crack the kingies code before the end of daylight savings! Tight lines Cc
  17. Thanks heaps! As soon as the weather is right I will poke my nose out wide. Fingers crossed I will have something to report in the coming weeks
  18. Great fish....something I have been dreaming about for many years. How did u get started? Did u do a lot of reading and asking questions or just get out and give it ago? I am looking at starting this winter aiming for a tuna to get experience outside in the calmer weather, then try for a marlin when the water heats up. Am I on the right path?
  19. Nice fish You have converted me. They are now on the keeper list!
  20. Finally purchased the sounder. Hopefully installing tonight, in the hope to help me find some kingies on Saturday.
  21. Hi Raiders, I am planning to head out this Saturday starting around 5am and back at the ramp (Apple Tree Bay) around 1pm. My plan is to catch my FIRST Kingie around the Pittwater area. I don't have a downrigger so I am going to try some trolling and then soak some baits. I am looking for any advice and a partner in crime (On my boat, or meet me at the ramp and bring yours) to assist in Popping My Cherry.......lol. So if your desperate and boatless or just want to help out another Raider Please PM if you are keen to help. Cheers, CC
  22. I didn't do much fishing at all last year, so didn't get around to getting a sounder. I am looking at buying the Garmin Echo 200, they are now only $199. Is anyone using the Echo 200. The reports sound ok but it would be great if I can get a Raiders feedback. Cheers, CC.
  23. Well done!! That is massive I wasn't expective it to be that big. What are the best months to catch them?
