  1. I get my gear from Japan... I picked up the current model Certate for almost $200 cheaper than what they sell it here ... PM me if you want the details.
  2. He said scoty has them for like $100 each. He got his for a bargin from a shop, for like $15... he said its currently around $80 from a shop, check it out... EDIT: sent you PM
  3. My mate got this which screws into the base of the DR
  4. My mate has the same DR as you. He didn't bolt his to the boat, it sits in a vertical rod holder. His rod holder sits about half way up his boat too, and never gets any issues.
  5. Hey Sigma, This what mine looks like, have no dramas with it. Support aluminium at the bottom for the DR
  6. Replaced mine with Solas too, the major difference I got was top speed, goes about 5-7k's faster.
  7. Sigma, Mines mounted on the back corner. So like your back rod holder, I have 2 rod holders lined up. The rod holder where the DR goes into, I also have a piece of aluminium at the bottom for extra support. I'll try take some pics for you.
  8. Same here, this week been fishing middle harbour\sydney and also down botany fad, no kings or dollies to be found. =( Its the crappy weather... needs to stop raining and have consistent warm humid weather.
  9. I fitted mine a few months ago http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/371051-TROJAN-SUBMERSIBLE-LED-LIGHTS-9M-CABLE-BOAT-TRAILER-PREWIRED-REAR-TAIL-/171478915649?hash=item27ecf09a41:g:2K8AAOSw7NNUKI7N $100 so cheap. When slotting the new light cable in, tie or duct tape the new cable to the old cable, and pull it through. The only part you need to figure out is the wiring of the socket. Mine is a 7 pin socket, pretty easy to wire up. I didn't use all the sockets, from memory I think I left 1 or 2 unused.
  10. Took the family down to Windang on the morning of new years eve. Had a great time, kids playing in the water, BBQ and beers with a few mates. It was time to head home and retrieve the boat. It was low tide maybe around 5pm I think and that Windang ramp is not the best of ramps. At low tide, the cement ramp doesn't go all the way down, which means the trailer is not submerged in water. Need to dry winch it up and with the strong current from the channel, its a tricky task. Luckily there were 2-3 very nice people at the ramp (not sure if they were locals), gave me a hand. We tied a rope to the back of the boat, pulling the back against the current to straighten it up to the trailer. I was on winch duty and the other gentleman was helping with getting the nose straight onto the rollers. Could not have done it without you guys, whomever you are, my family thanks you so much and hope you have a great new year! David.
  11. A lot of people recommend this guy cause, most of them order the bait boards. You can't go wrong with bait boards, there's not much to them. Live tank however, custom made... I don't think so. I think what this guy has, is prefabricated live tanks in different common sizes.
  12. Sorry to high jack, but do you guys think the hum of the standard wire affects the bite rate? I'm yet to change over to braid too.
  13. I had a similar problem, I used a breaker bar, put it at the back of the hub and pulled toward me and it eventually came off.
  14. http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/fishing/recreational/fishing-rules-and-regs/perm-prohib-saltwater
  15. Do you get similar occurrences without the trailer connected? Like jeff says, I think it's your car too.
  16. Yep what Zoran said, keep it trickle charged at all times when not in use. Repco keep having sales on their CTEK MX7, great charger. You should check the voltage on your battery periodically with a multimeter Dave
  17. Here's another motivational photo for you. Those are average 30cm hoods.
  18. Thanks for the replies Raiders, I'll be picking up all of the gear this weekend =)
  19. Hey Craig, Try using jigs size of 2.0 and 2.5. I usually only target them at night and my top 3 colors (in order) are white, orange, pink. Squid bite on the drop\sink of the jig, so I tend to do 1 big lift, as big as I can, to give it lots of time to drop and the squid to hit it. Also glow jigs make a massive difference (night fishing of course), I have one of those small UV torches, and some egi max which also increases the hit rate. Good luck. Dave
  20. Hi Raiders, Is Long Reef considered to be inside 2nm offshore? I'm asking cause I'm not sure if I need the offshore required equipment. Thanks, Dave
  21. So my mate has a HDS7 Gen 2. He is wondering if its worth to upgrade to Gen 3 with Chirp. Can anyone offer their experiences, is the Chirp worth it? Cheers Dave
  22. I wanted to put my batteries up front too, but as ray mentions, when in chop I reckon they'll cop a beating which can't be good.
  23. +1 I got 1 mate like that... and by god you can rely on him to show up at my house at least 30 minutes late, every time, without fail, and be completely unprepared.... then they expect you to be a fishing charter and literally hand them the kings on a silver platter lol
  24. But its so awesome! Practically sells itself lol - it's part of a longer term plan, to relandscape my front yard and eventually get a 6m boat lol just gotta slowly ease the missus into it
