  1. Hey Geoff, I recently purchased this unit as well, haven't fitted mine yet, but it does say on the box that it reads at trolling speeds. Take a picture of the transducer and post it here.
  2. I see a lot of people flushing their motors at Tunks, I assume its fine. Just bring your ear muffs and hose.
  3. I've tried 2 types. Timken grease (non marine) and Castrol Marine grease. I found the marine grease to be much more thicker and sticky.
  4. Hi Raiders, My boat windshield has abrasions on it, is there anyway of this clear again? I tried bug spray, but it didn't clear up.
  5. If its under reving then you'll need a bigger prop with bigger pitch. Obviously you'll only know this at max speed. Keep in mind, if you get a prop that gives you 5500-6000 at max speed, you'll get good speed at top end and poor take off. Any lower than obviously you'll get better take off but over reving at top end. I take it you want something right in the middle. Also you'll want a stainless prop as they don't warp. As suggested above, contact a professional for advice on what prop size you'll need. Give them your current prop specs with revs at WOT.
  6. When you're at WOT (max speed), what are the revs like? Is it over reving or under?
  7. Hi Raiders, bumping an old post. I'm having a similar problem, where the throttle when accelerating is a little stiff, and when I try to back off and to go slower its very stiff. So stiff I end up accidently yanking it back and it slows down way too fast and I jolt forward out of my seat, pretty dangerous. The only way I've over come this is to tap the throttle with my palm instead of grabbing it. Anyone experienced this and know what needs to be done? Thanks, Dave
  8. I was diagnosing my new trailer this arvo, as the brake lights weren't working. Derek is 100% spot on! Shakey even posts an awesome diagram too! Cheers guys I will using this info! After checking with a multi meter, I found all my wiring was working, and I noticed the Brake pin from the CAR is pushed in! I haven't had a chance to open the car plug yet, I hope its easy to pull out the circular connector.
  9. Hi Geoff. It's a Quintrex 450 Escape. At the rear of the boat, there is quite a large unused space on the far right. Budget? I'll pay whatever it costs, I just want something that will work (no leaks or blockages) and lasts forever, not after anything fancy or perspect Windows.
  10. Hi Raiders, I'm looking at getting a custom live well made for my boat. If you know of anyone who does solid work, please send me a PM. I am located South West of Sydney. Cheers, David
  11. Right got it. So on my old boat, the sounder reading at home, is like 0.5m which is correct. So I wasn't quite sure with the new boat. I'll submerge it a bucket of water tomorrow and give it a try then, thanks for the tips raiders!
  12. Hi Raiders, I've recently purchased a second hand boat, it came with a Lowrance sounder. When I turn the sounder on at home, it has a depth reading of 18m. I did a factory reset, and it still shows 18m. I was planning on replacing this sounder anyway, however was hoping to see if I can use the same transducer. Any tips on what I can check to fix this, and also to see if the transducer is working ok? Thanks in advanced. David.
  13. Thanks for the replies Raiders. I was hoping to avoid getting my hands dirty to then having to go out and get the parts. No worries I'll take the pads with me to get matched. Thanks all!
  14. Hi Raiders, I've just purchased a boat, and I want to change the brake pads on the trailer. It's my first braked trailer. The axle is a 40mm square axle and has 165 R13 tyres on. Do the pads come in standard sizes? Besides removing it and taking it with me, anyone know how I can find the correct size I need to purchase? Thanks Dave
  15. Ah right, yep that does make sense. That sort of thing will generally happen when its low tide. Low tide means the lower part of the ramp is exposed with moss, very slippery you can't even stand on 2 feet. And to add to that, some ramps don't go all the way down on low tide, instead just drops off maybe a few inches into the sand. Yer mate I always avoid low tide when launching and retrieving. Poor fella wish him the best of luck.
  16. Is that car an automatic? It looks like it from the pic of the inside. I don't get how can an automatic car roll down, if you had it in Park, even with hand brake off. If its in Park gear it won't budge.
  17. I was gona say the say thing as Jewhunter, fill it up at home and maybe get a 2nd bucket to circulate\run the live well. Good luck!
  18. Dude jigging at 500-600m lol that's nuts! You must be very fit to do that, or very crazy haha Well done mate!
  19. That's a great looking boat and even better setup! I've ticked the jealous box! Well done mate I'm sure it will bring you many years of joy! Dave.
  20. Welcome to the best fishing forum, glad to have you on board
  21. I haven't had a chance to use it yet! I've used the older model, my mates one and I was sold right away. The drag system was so smooth, completely different to my Stradic, so I had to get one. I've used smaller Stellas too, in my opinion I couldn't justify the extra $400. It does have a new drag system called ATD, some sort of automatic drag system. Basically what it is, on normal reels, when you set say 1kg drag, its locked at 1kg right... not on the ATD... the ATD is like a progressive drag. So it lets some drag out and progressively reaches the 1KG drag over a short length. I'm still new to it and haven't used it yet, so I'm not sure of the benefits as of yet, but I'm guessing it causes less strain on the reel. Will let you know how she goes =)
  22. Sounds like Jeff is spot on there. Definitely sounds like either no spark on the top cylinder or the top carby is dirty. Also as Jeff mentioned, don't mix around the spark plug cables, as the distributor as timing preset for each cable.
  23. Anti virus software picks up a lot of unnecessary things, mostly cause wants you to think it's doing a good job, but its doing a shit one lol You can easily check the logs to see what it detected and google it, most likely its harmless website macro or something. As long as you're not downloading files, or clicking on to any pop-up boxes that appear out of nowhere, then you're fine. If you see a pop up box, just press Alt+F4 to close it. I personally don't run any anti virus software for the last 15 years, never had a problem. Don't open junk mails, executable files or pop ups and you'll never get a virus.
  24. It's been a while Pete, I'll hit you up soon for a fish mate
