  1. Hi Raiders, Anyone know how we dispose of an old flat battery? Thanks, Dave
  2. Hey Geoff, as mentioned above, the area\system will determine what sort of rig you will require. If its in a system that has a high flow of strong current, you'll need a paternoster rig. If its not so high flow, you can drift the jig on its own. If theres chop, you can leave it in the rod holder, if its smooth, hold the rod and vary with slight jerks upwards. My favourite colors in order: White, Orange, Pink, Black. PM me if you want more details mate.
  3. Yer I'm actually waiting for the 16 Certate, most stores have told me April/May.
  4. Hi Raiders, I'm in the market for a jigging rod. The benchmark rod I'm looking at, is the Shimano Game Type J, PE 2-5. Can anyone suggest any other rods in this range, and if possible to suggest a reel to suit with at least 10kg drag (I already have 2 stradics) Cheers!
  5. Aren't trolling and jigging rods different? Jigging rods bend a lot more, I'm looking for a jigging rod myself.
  6. Hey mate, yer it was awesome! I pretty much was fishing off the private jetty behind the house. Caught like 11 different species! Bream, Pinkies, Flathead, Port Jackson shark, croc long tom (it went over 1m), Jewie (went about 60cm), Leather Jackets, Flounder, sting ray, Whiting, Eel and blue swimmer. They were all caught on prawns! Some were banana prawns and some were small hawkesbury type prawns. Was an awesome weekend, met some nice locals too. Think I'll take the boat up next time!
  7. I already have a Tcurve 5-10kg (with a 4000 Stradic FJ), its decent but I'm looking for something a tad heavier.
  8. cheers I definitely need a stiff rod, my others bend too much. I'll either be live baiting or jigging. Just want something solid, I was thinking of 10-15kg.
  9. Hi Raiders, Can you please suggest what rod to get, to match with a Certate 3000. Will be using it for Kings in relatively shallow water, 15-20m. Cheers! Dave.
  10. Get your hands on a multi-meter and check the voltages first. If its reading 10 volts, you'll need to replace them. EDIT: http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/index.php?showtopic=79748 Look at the picture posted by Shakey
  11. I've only recently driven a diesel car and I'm completely sold (yep I'm late to the party!). They have so much grunt, so much torque, petrol cars just cannot compete when it comes to towing. Go diesel!
  12. Because you don't have any fault codes to work with, unfortunately all you can do is start to narrow down the problem. It does sound like you have some sort of a fuel problem and cleaning injectors is one of the cheapest items to tick off. Let us know how it goes. PS. What sort of fuel is in the tank? Fill it up with 98 and see if that makes a difference.
  13. Geoff, go have the injectors cleaned. Last time I did it on my car, which was many years ago now, the mechanic charged around $150, might be a bit more these days.
  14. I have those black spots too, I always though it came from the road (my cars are garaged)
  15. I'm down the road from the bridge. The house I'm staying at has a nice grassy area behind it where the kiddies can run around, and there's multi jettys along the water line, pretty cool! Thanks for the tips guys, I'm confident on putting the little ones on some fish, hopefully they get the fishing addiction bug!
  16. Hi Raiders, I'm taking the family to up to Woy Woy for the Australia day weekend, we've rented a house up there, the backyard has a jetty and a nice channel of water. I was going to put my girls on some small "pink" rods, maybe small pieces of prawn in hopes to get them onto some bream, keep them happy! Are their any larger species in these channels? I was thinking of maybe flicking SP's in high hopes of a jewie! Also are there any blue swimmers in this system? PM's welcomed! Cheers and thanks in advanced! Dave.
  17. Hi Fab, I have that exact same one. It's a great torch, extremely bright and shoots very far. The only downside, because I use it for fishing, the salt water (even tho I do not get it wet) eventually gets inside the torch. I used it for 3-4 years until the back rechargable plug sort of snapped and fell inside the torch, due to the salt water weaking the plastic. Then tried to unscrew the torch, to realise the screws are all rusted. Drilled the screws out. Got the plug out, am able to charge it now, so its still working. Its a great torch but yer, salt water will destroy anything you buy.
  18. Go grab a multimeter, its the best to way to see if your battery is charged, and if it is holding charge. Each cell should have around 2.2 volts with 6 cells, you're looking at anywhere between 12.5 - 13.5 volts. When a battery is fully charged, it should hold the maximum for at least a few days, so a good test is to measure the voltage the following day, you'll know if you got a dud battery if its not holding the same or a very similar charge from the previous day. If you ever come across a reading of 10 volts, may as well dispose of the battery, as you've lost a cell. Happy fishing!
  19. Alternator is useless, unless you're using the boat everyday/once a week. That's why we don't need to trickle charge our cars. If you don't trickle charge, it will slowly die over time. Once you lose a cell its a goner. I've tried reconditioning my old battery with a lost cell, no chance.
