  1. Thrown plastics left right and centre recently for quite a few nice flatties at the usual spots but hooked this nice one the other night, went just over 90cm on 12 pound leader and 8 pound braid, was released to fight another day. Took a good 10 mins to get her. Heaps of regular sized ones about recently.
  2. Been flicking some small plastics around Wonni drop offs the last few days and got some real nice fish, not huge fish but plenty of them. All around the footbridge and road bridge. Best fish have been at night on Squidges
  3. There are bass in their alright, not huge but good fun, access isn't easy but it's worth the effort.
  4. Cheers ChrisE, you ever fished it?
  5. That's unreal, the things you see ! Years ago I was flicking plastics on a shallow bank and pulled a flattie 30cm or so in size when I got it next to the yak a monster flattie well over 1m swam up and tried to eat it, I s@#t my pants as the think was huge. It took one swipe at the smaller flattie missed and swam off, amazing what they will try and fit in their mouths.
  6. It's opposite bonnet bay accessed from back of Bangor, it was a real surprise package, gunna head back down there later this week early on day
  7. Fished a tiny feeder creek this arvo at high tide, creek is exposed at low tide but come high tide it is 4 ft or so deep, real mangrove country with the creek only 20m wide and 400m long. I knew there had to be fish up there eating prawns and stuff so I threw tiny prawn imitation plastics and flipping nailed it with 4 flatties to 60cm and a 3 whittling to 43cm. Unfortunately no photos due to being knee deep in mud but amazing stuff all in an hour of fishing.
  8. I fish because few things are more beautiful than throwing plastics and hardbodies in a deserted still backwater or tannin filled creek with towering gums and angophora's in the early mornings and late arvo's watching birds sing, lizards scurry over sandstone boulders while trying to fool an EP or the like into taking your offerings. I love a feed of fish but for me it's the beauty of the locations tucked away hidden from mainstream Sydney life.
  9. I fished a few charters out of plantation island and got yellowfin tuna, GT, coral trout, Spanish mackerel and wahoo. All nice size to. Was a bit pricey but worth it.
  10. Summer = bass on everything and carp on corn. Winter = burbon on ice and wine next to the Fire.
  11. Yeah getting the worms off the banks, in all the years I've fished the wonni I've never seen squid in there until a few months ago I saw some at night. Pretty cool to see.
  12. Howdy All Wonni has been fishing all over the place in the last few months. Some days its gold other days is dead as a door nail. Few flatties, some Jews, EP's on live blood worms. Some blackfish on live unweighted squirt worms on the weed banks in 2ft of water.
  13. Yeah ive seen them smash bait schools at night under lights at certain locations quite a bit and that's how I caught my biggest of around 14kg keeping in mind I hardly ever fish for them. Its quite a sight to see them smashing the surface followed by a big silver roll as they take off. The wake they make as they hit and roll is amazing to see. I used to fish a lot for Ep's at night on the surface and that was pretty cool stuff but nice sized jews is another thing all together.
  14. Thanks guys for the reply. Hi Overdraft , I Caught 20 of them all around 65cm, all released. couldn't imagine what a 1m fish would do. Ive pulled tonnes of big jews well over 1m and the like but never have I felt a fish pull with as much muscle as they did, got smoked a number of times by bigger ones. Im still blown away that such a fish with so much pull exists. I just hated the boat traffic.
  15. Hi All Just curious at to whether Kings bite at night? Caught a heap today in the Hacking this morning after never having fished for them before. Boat traffic was pretty bad and thought maybe they could be targeted at night? Cheers in advance for any advice.
  16. I reckon December is the worst purely because of the crowds. But I seeem to catch less during that month also. Best months are Autumn by far for me.
  17. Stacks of whitting and flatties just around the inside at the rivermouth. Heaps of bream, flatties and whitting off the beaches. Can get heaps of beach worms out the front on the beach. But they are hard to get if windy, sure beats paying for them. Stacks of nippers to pump around the sand flats. Have really only fished around top lake and it's generally pretty good.
  18. Lately I've been using flour and it works like magic, it sent the mullet nuts and I had 20 in the trap in 2 mins.
  19. So I threw nearly every plastic at every hole in the Woronora early this morning for not a touch in 3 hrs. The water was dirty but I usually do pretty well. So I pulled a heap of nice poddy mullet and dropped them down the same holes this arvo and cleaned up with a stack of 60cm flatties. All caught up past the footbridge at nearly dead low hide. Funny how it works sometimes.
  20. Hi All Fished and surfed a lot of the smaller systems and most beaches down south over the years generally from Ulladulla and south and always did pretty good on bream, flattie ect. But went down to my place at Bawley Pt the other day and after driving over the creek for the millionth time and curiousity got the better of me and I put the kayak in under the bridge and was blown away as and it was absolutely disgusting, riddled with algae, not a single fish was sighted in 2 hrs of paddling. I used to play in there as a kid and it was full of the bread and butter fish and clean as a whistle. I was really disappointed. I figure the mouth has been closed for to long and its just gone backwards. Anyone else fished it or remember when it was clean and tidy?
  21. Howdy Ive been using circle hooks for jews with live bait like live herring and everytime guaranteed its hooked in the corner of the mouth. Love them and wouldn't go back to fishing for jews with live bait without them. Cheers
  22. Love a good EP, nice work, they just love night time a bit of moving water and vibes.
  23. I've forgotten rods, bait, tackle bags, bungs, fuel and just about everything else but cant say I ever forgot my boat, and if I did id never admit it, lololol
  24. Nice report, I fished Tilba beach for a heap of salmon on metals last Friday, narooma break wall for bream and salmon and Tura Beach for salmon last week. Perfect part of the world. If only I could convince the wife to leave Sydney.
