  1. cheers guys. Got 1 more question for you all, Would leather jackets and taylor hit a live squid. I don't think it was a king that bit hoels in the squid. The head was ripped off and the holes were a perfect circle the size of a 20c piece.
  2. Cheers guys, ill send that bad boy down next time. If something hits that ill get towed in the yak for a few kms hahaha
  3. Headed out on Sat to the barges for 1 more crack at the kings. Once again I couldn't get a yacca but there were heaps of sweep in the burley trail. So I headed off to chase some squid. paddled to Lovett bay and got a nice sized one and sent him down. I started heading back to the barges and the squid started bouncing around and I thought here we go. Had a little run then nothing. Brought in up and my squid looked like swiss cheese. Head missing and 3 big holes in the hood. Spewing. So back to the squid grounds for more bait. The problem was all the squid after that were to big for bait, so they just came home for a feed. not a bad problem to have. Yet again the kings and yaccas have beaten me. Anyone no of another place for yaccas around Scotland island or Church point. Cheers
  4. Ill keep that in mind to, Couldn't get a yacca anywhere, and had some rat kings surfacing at northbridge while I was fishing for bream on the yak. There was a school of white bait on the surface shimmering, so I paddled over it with the sounder and got some big marks. Dropped down some plastics but no good.
  5. Cheers guys, Thanks for the help.
  6. Caught a larger one of these at the barges over at Scotland island but had no camera. Got this one at Camaray on a plastic almost the same size at it. Is mouth goes from ear to ear and has a good set of teeth as well. Coming from Vic ive never caught one but im sure a few of you have. Any info would be great.
  7. nice catch, what time did they start biting
  8. cheers guys, sat looking good. thanks for all the tips. lets hope the stars align.
  9. weather looks good this sat, we will go another round
  10. Fished North head on sat morning and suprisingly not to many boats out. Got out yackas and lowered them down. Within 5 min zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, I screamed thats a king for sure. had it on for a couple of seconds and it was gone. Next bait it and again i just put the rod in the holder and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, but yet again no solid hook up, I thought im done for sure , you dont get to many chances but hey i dropped the next one and bang on again. great couple of runs but then it was just cruising. Ive never caught a king but all the videos ive seen they go hard. after a 5 min fight our first glims. Boooooooooooooooo a big salmon. i was dirty. i didnt expect a salmon to take a live yacka. We had a few more yacks but they got smashed as well. Ahh well, that king will come soon enough, i hope.
  11. it was only small but it went hard, had a big old mouth on it
  12. Just got back from our annual trip to marlo. The reports were good and they didnt lie. Smallest fish were at the 26 cm mark which is under size in vic and the largest going 38cm. Average fish was 30 cm. Best times were at the start and end of the tide change. We had a ball and kept a few fish and ate a couple there. All on prawn. I also stopped in at merimbula on the way home, I caught a fish ( pic ) that i hadnt seen before, Ive dived the area and never seen it under water in that area. It had a head like a GT and very slimmy.
  13. During tuna season everyone was throwing the heads and scraps of fish in the water , this attracted heaps of stingrays and seals. At one stage before the railing went up a seal grabbed a young kid and started pulling him in the water, I herd the old man grabbed the kid just in time, now they have big skips to throw your fish wastes in ....
  14. nice one mate, awsome catch, was that Bob and Chris that took the pics. we stay with them during the Tuna run, Great blokes with great fishing brains
  15. cheers, cant wait for those warm long still nights,
  16. i was out in the yack at deep creek yesterday arvo, Mullet jumping everywhere, for the flatties is it better in the am or pm .
  17. i was out Sunday morning for the same result, I noticed 2 trawlers wth birds following as they do. I was at south head, Not sure if they had been out all night or working the area.
  18. I put the boat in as well, looked good, it was quiet but had an issue with a guy whs boat wouldnt start and had it at the front of the ramp, other boats had to swing there boats aroud his, not to much of an issue now but if it was packed there would have been, the best bit is the ramp seems deeper and loger underwater, i guess time will tell. and i noticed the wash bay was not working, is that getting the can or just on the mend?
  19. was diving home and in my re view mirror i thought i saw that they are opening one lane as of tomorrow, will confirm tomorrow and might go and test it out on the weekend, hope the wait in the end will be worth it,
