  1. Great report. You had good fun and we, who don't have time to go fishing, have good time reading it. Thank you.
  2. Great report mate. Thank you for sharing. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. We all have sometimes the same experience. That's why it is called fishing and not catching the fish. Just try to target different species, styles and places and your success rate will dramatically improve. Good luck! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    Flat battery?

So after 3-4 months of no use, battery can be fully discharged and damaged. Beauty of these smart or multi stage chargers is, that I can charge my batteries let's say once a week, or leave it on for whole winter and my batteries are always perfect. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    Flat battery?

If battery is not used it can naturally discharge 0.5-1 % of he capacity per day. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    Flat battery?

I have 2 c-tek smart battery chargers. One for outboard battery, one for min kotta battery. I recharge both batteries 1-2 days before using the boat and then doing the same after. You can forget these and similar chargers connected forever and they will not damage the batteries at all. They even prolong lifespan of the battery. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  14. I had 2003 model Maxima, last v6 3l model and it towed my stacer 429 without any problems. Two years ago we took it from Sydney to Jindabyne and back and fuel consumption was only one litre more. I think new Maximas are 3.5l. Maxima or Aurion, both should be fine. 15. Actually carp is not that bad for eating. Deep fried in bread crumbs like schnitzel with potato salad. In many European countries it is considered above the average taste. Because it is oily best size is between 2-2.5kg. And fighting qualities of carp are second to none.
  16. Excuse my question, did you use spinning or overhead reel? Thanks
  17. Yes, yesterday was awesome. Trawlers are probably targeting mostly prawns and then 'free for all'. I think we have to accept them, but it is too many of them for the area. The squid was just bycatch, maybe chasing our bait (prawns) while we retrieved it. Our squid jigs were in boxes. I will definitely try them next time there. Cheers.
  18. Hooks were Gamakatsu Octopus and Mustad Penetrator sizes 3/0, 5/0 and 8/0. Water wasn't choppy and was nearly calm. Timing was close to high tide so current was nearly not visible. Therefore sinker size in our opinion was not that important. We came there originally to target bonito, tailor and salmons chasing whitebait, but unfortunately no surface activity so this was our back up plan and it worked beautifully. Don't worry if you didn't catch anything few days ago. Three weeks ago we didn't have a bite. That's what is fishing in Brooklyn about and maybe everywhere. I don't have any suggestion of a good spots. We mostly target flatties between 40-60cm with metal vibes, so shallow water, sandy or muddy areas, small beaches. We release every flathead out of this range. Closer to rocks SP is safer and cheaper if you loose it. If we by bait then pilchards or prawns. Good luck!
  19. I agree, for occasional visitors cheapie combo 2-5kg with 2000-2500 reel 6-8lb mono is fine. Ugly Sticks would be better choice and with good handling will last forever. They are really unbreakable under normal fishing conditions. I have 3, one of them is 4 piece for travel. It has graphite core and is very light and strong. Feels like complete graphite. Braided graphite combos are best for vibes and SP. You feel everything what is happening under the water, but they are more fragile
  20. Went fishing yesterday in the Hawkesburry River with my mate Wayne. Came to Brooklyn at 7am and started drifting between Lion Island and Barrenjoey Head. Water depth 10-20m, bait used school prawns from fish shop, water temperature 23-24.5 deg. In 4 hours we landed 5 flatties 40-46cm and 5 flounders 30-34cm. Lost and released more fish, 2 small squids, 1 small ray and 1 shovelnose. It was very relaxing but because it was too easy, it became boring after a while. So we decided to try our luck with metal vibes and SP more inland. This is what we love doing. It is more interesting, keeps you active and you have better control over the selection of your catch. But between Patonga and Flint and Steel we counted 5 trawlers so we moved to Mullet Creek close to oyster leases. Not much luck there, 1 small flathead and 2 small yakas. In spite of this we had absolutely fantastic day.
  21. I would suggest combo for the boat should be 6'6" Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  22. Nice. I'd take that as main catch any day!
  23. Yes, Gold and red. Main reason could be overcast weather and not very clear water.
  24. Hi Raiders, Hit the Berowra Waters yesterday afternoon with my mate Wayne. It was very windy with periods of rain. Very quiet, no speed boats or jetski. Our intention was to try my new addition, electric motor Minn Kota Riptide ST with i-pilot. This was second time I used it and I love it. It is so easy learn to use it that we had enough time to successfully try our new metal blades. I caught very nice 74cm flatty on Switchblade TT 1/2oz 'Gold Noggin'. Unfortunately it was hooked very deep inside, was badly injured and could not be released back to its world. Gear was very light, 3kg graphite rod, 2500 reel, 3kg braid with 4.5kg leader. We love these metal vibes. You can feel what is happening under the surface.
