Went fishing yesterday in the Hawkesburry River with my mate Wayne.
Came to Brooklyn at 7am and started drifting between Lion Island and Barrenjoey Head.
Water depth 10-20m, bait used school prawns from fish shop, water temperature 23-24.5 deg.
In 4 hours we landed 5 flatties 40-46cm and 5 flounders 30-34cm.
Lost and released more fish, 2 small squids, 1 small ray and 1 shovelnose.
It was very relaxing but because it was too easy, it became boring after a while.
So we decided to try our luck with metal vibes and SP more inland.
This is what we love doing. It is more interesting, keeps you active and you have better control over the selection of your catch.
But between Patonga and Flint and Steel we counted 5 trawlers so we moved to Mullet Creek close to oyster leases.
Not much luck there, 1 small flathead and 2 small yakas.
In spite of this we had absolutely fantastic day.
