  1. Hi, Went boating with my mrs last Monday. We launched the boat at Apple Tree Bay at 10.30am and started fishing couple hundred metres from the boat ramp. Light 1-3kg rod with my favourite plastic lure Zman MinnowZ, Pearl/Blue Glimmer 3inch. High tide was still 1-1.5 hours away. I was casting over the drop off and second or third cast I felt something heavy. After 5-10 minutes beautiful 63 cm flathead was in our boat. Ten minutes later 25 cm model was caught on another fishing rod with squid bait, then small bream. After this we moved to another bay not far away to catch 2 small squids on 1.5inch squid jig. At high tide, 100 metres from us water started suddenly to boil. Big school of predators was chasing small bait fish. Two minutes later, before I was able to change the lure and moved closer it was over. Quiet. I guess it was bonitos. Last April I caught two bonito in this area. We moved then to Pittwater but no success. Thanks. IMG_9924-iPhone.m4v
  2. For me it is simple. If I have too many questions it is non essential. Answer is simple. Stay at home!
  3. Nice video, thanks for sharing.
  4. Great report. Looking forward to see the GoPro footage. Thanks
  5. Reports like this keep us trying too. Thank you!
  6. I use double in the middle, single at the rear facing up. I used to replace them, I just cut them with the pliers now. Martin
  7. We always catch flounders drifting between Lion island and Barenjoey Head. Paternoster rig, fresh prawn, 10-15m deep.
  8. Cranking battery is naturally discharging 1% of capacity per day. I always recharge my 2 batteries after every trip and then again before next trip. Two fully automatic charges will do the trick. Alternator, in my opinion and experience, is not enough for the boat usage.
  9. I am right handed person and I have set up all my reels to have the handle on the left. In my opinion it is more natural. It was the only way in seventies, spinning reels didn't have option to choose side for the handle. It is clearly visible on 2 Shakespeare and one Daiwa reels inherited from my father.

    How useful

I bring the boat and buy petrol. $10 a trip. My mates buy the bait and if I agree, they bring some snack and help me to clean the boat after the trip. Sometimes they give me money for petrol, but I usually refuse. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  11. I usually replace tail-treble with the single hook bent up. You can replace mid-treble with 2 single hooks tied together, but cutting the bottom leg is very good idea and simple. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  12. Yes, that's true. Trout would need very deep water during hot season. 10 m plus maybe? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. Thanks for reading guys. I kept the metal. My friend prefers plastic. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  14. Hello Raiders. My report is 5 months due, but I hope still interesting. All this happened at the end of October 2014 in Hawks Nest. Nice sunny day before midday. Running out tide. My friend and I were on Jimmy Beach, targeting flatheads on a very light gear. Graphite rods 2-4 kg, 2000-2500 spinning reels, 2-4 kg braids. He was using SP and I was using small metal vibe. I was lazy to tie the leader so I only tied the lure to the braid. Big mistake! We were there for half an hour and suddenly I had a very good bite and could feel big fish on the other end of the line. This is why we love very light graphite rods with braids and metal vibes or SP. You can feel everything, what is happening under the water! I was retrieving slowly, having fun and showing off "my professionalism". This created very good opportunity for the flathead. Suddenly when the fish was in one foot of water it shook its head and off it went with my most favourite metal vibe. Bugger! Fun was gone and I was left with empty end of the braid. Really disappointed with my laziness and "professionalism". We slowly moved away combing the water from the beach. After maybe 20-30 minutes we returned back trying again the same spot. Shortly after that big surprise. My friend caught the same lizard with my treasured vibe still in his mouth. This time fish was hooked on white bait SP. It was 53 cm long. Thank you again my friend and thanks for reading guys and ladies!
  15. Nice report. Thank you. Can I ask where was it please?

  18. Congratulations! This is probably biggest croc what I've read about. Thanks for sharing. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  19. I've been in this situation once. I was in the boat, unaware that I came too close to somebody's line. After I realised what is happening I simply moved my boat with Minn Kota. This situation is like road rage. Guy in the boat has usually more options so he should move further away and then he can cast even in the same spot as guy on the land. This way both sides can be happy. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  20. Isn't trailering bracket designed more for the protection of transom than motor?
  21. Do you have to start it if you flush it this way? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  22. I have 3 year old Evinrude Exec and you can flush it without starting. I think the same applies to the other new motors. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  23. I am envious. My better half loves to fish at Costis only. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  24. We can't choose our neighbours and they can't choose us. So it is best to be as friendly as possible for both sides of the fence or street. Unfortunately this doesn't work in every situation and with some persons. If you allow them too much, they might grab more in the future. I would say try to communicate in writing and without emotions. Cheers. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
