A bit of a update on my thermostat situation: took the boat in and the issue was the thermostat was stuck open causing the engine not to heat up so the mechanic took out the thermostat and grinded it down a bit and the issue is now fixed.

My usual dealer up in Windsor cant look at it till next week and said I should be fine using it until then but i did manage to get it booked in at a outboard place in liverpool for wednesday so hopefully get it rectified.

I have noticed the issue only happens when i flush the motor or when it is at neutral. THe motor is still under warranty so i am a bit hesitant replacing the thermostat just in case if it causes another issue but if i cant find anyone to replace it i will consider doing it myself for the sake of using it this weekend.

Hi Guys I have been getting a thermostat error msg on my optimax 115hp and have the long weekend planned for next week. My question is should i get the thermostat replaced before i go or use it and then replace it at another time if there is no adverse effect on the engine? A little background i starting getting the thermostat error after servicing this year. I spoke to the mob who serviced the motor as the motor is still under warranty and they said it could be that something is stuck in the thermostat now allowing it to close and then i should take it out for a run on the river which i did and the issue is still occurring so i am thinking its time to get the thermostat replaced. any advice is appreciated.

HI I currently have a hummingbird 589ci di combo which i haven't mounted yet as when i took it out of the box i found the screen to be too small so am looking at getting a bigger screen sized fish finder combo with 2D sonar, GPS and DI. I have a quintrex freedom sports 530 bowrider so will only ever be venturing out of the heads occasionally maybe 5 times a year. I currently run navioncs on a tablet as a gps unit but i wanted to get rid of the tablet and stick to the one unit that does it all. Which unit would you guys recommend and why comparing the Hummingbird 859/959ci hd di with Lowrance Elite 7 chrip Di unit?

Hi I just wanted to know if you would hire a jetski for $250 aud for 4 hours with a guide (both you and the guide will be on different jet skis) and all fishing gear and light snack to go fishing while you were on holidays. Please advise if its a good idea and why wouldnt you hire it?

I have the 530 quinny freedom sports and its very versatile as in i can take the family out on the Saturday and the Boys out on the Sunday off shore with the front closed off. I have taken it up to 1-2km out at south west rocks in 20 knot winds.

Definitely there were lots of boats trolling and no one was catching anything. Might try and hit grassy next time if the weather is calm.

Anyone been fishing the entrance lately? How did you go? I am heading over this Saturday since the weather man says it will be 30 degrees. Will be land based so just hoping to throw a line in near the mouth and hopefully get a better result then windang.
