  1. And I must've just gone on a bad night cos I looked along that wall and no one was there.. the only people I saw were prawning Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
  2. I just thought I better clarify cos I got the impression ppl thought I was weird for worrying about safety Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
  3. I should probably add that i'm female.. and a real chicken so that's why I have a concern about safety lol Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
  4. I could but I dont really feel safe out on my own anyway so thought somewhere well lit would have a greater chance of there being others fishing Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
  5. Apparently the lights at the entrance jetty go out at 10 any other suggestions?
  6. Thanks.. The entrance was where I was thinking too (after I posted naturally). I might give that a shot as I really struggle with fishing the tides at Swansea
  7. Hi all, Just after some suggestions on safe locations to go fishing on my own at nite either around Lake Macquarie or central coast please? Preferably with a decent amount of light and other people around so that there's some security at least (or that it at least feels that there is). I'm living near morisset but happy to drive half hr or so.. Thanks in advance for any suggestions
  8. lol guess you always have to know more than someone My partner taught me the basics a couple of years back but that was it.. He doesn't even like to fish so I go on my own
  9. Thanks so much. Don't know what I'd do without fishraider! I had no idea the sinkers I was using were designed to 'roll' with the tide. Makes sense now that I think about it though. I'll get some pyramid sinkers and see how that goes Thanks again for all the info everyone
  10. I tried about 3 different spots.. And all the same. Sounds like star sinkers may be worth a go. What size would u recommend? I only have a light rod (I think about 2-5kg). And also, what type of rig do u use with a star sinker? I've only used ball, barrel and bean so far... Thanks again for all the help!
  11. Thanks so much for all the suggestions. Sounds like I may have to buy some new sinkers and time my outing better One other question ... The main problem I'm finding (other than not feeling bites) is that my line is coming back in towards me and the rocks so its not able to be left out for long otherwise I'll snag. If I try the other side of the river on the same tide does that mean my line should be taken out rather than back in? Sorry if it seems silly but still getting my head around how it all works
  12. Hi all, I've recently moved to the central coast and wanted to have a go fishing swansea but the tide was ridiculous. I couldn't tell the difference between tidal movement and bites! Does anyone have tips on what to do in this situation? I tried a heavier sinker and that made no difference at all. I'm landbased and using bait (not sure if that's relevant or not) Thanks in advance
  13. Oh good. Just didn't want it to end up being wasted! Thanks
  14. Thanks. Thought it must've been.. I got a feel for both today and am steering towards the Ci4. Now just gotta find it for a decent price. Anyone seen one of these closer to the $200 mark?
  15. Does it matter if you use heavier braid than what the reel specs say? I gather you just can't fit as much on? I only ask as I've got some 10lb powerpro in the mail (as that's what I was using on my other reel)... But now I'm researching stradics etc it seems I only need 5-8lb
  16. Lol looks to me like the ones u see in bunnings (think they're called a space case). Just have to cut out your own foam with those though
  17. Thanks for that I'll definitely go have a good look in the next few days and see how they feel. I'm in no real hurry as my new braid is still in the post, but I'm terrible at making decisions so this will probably be a lengthy process lol. And thanks for the tip about the oil too!
  18. Lol know that feeling. It used to be my softball bat, now it's my rod and reel. Crazy but true
  19. Thanks - yeah, that's a very good point. Sounds like it'll pay to feel unco for a whole until I'm used to it
  20. Thanks for the pic too I've always steered clear of these types of handles. I'm not sure if its because I have absolutely zero technique in what I do or my hands are too small to use them. Do u think some handles are impractical for women? Or would I get used to it in time?
  21. Awesome thanks. Do most of the upper spec shimanos come with oil maintenance ports? It's the one thing I wish my baitrunner had! For me I think the simpler maintenance is the better lol
  22. This leads to my next question though lol. I have a budget of up to $200.. What would be a good value reel (either a 1000 or 2500) for that kind of money? I'm not going to worry about baitrunner anymore as to be honest I don't really use it (other than to let out more line!). I've always had shimano but definitely open to other suggestions. And at the risk of sounding weird - I don't like the reels with the wonky shaped handles that go out on an angle as they don't feel smooth to me. Thanks again
  23. Thanks for that, much appreciated
  24. So u think a 4000 would be excessive then on that rod? I've got the baitrunner DL series at the moment but was looking at upgrading to the OC, but 4000 is the smallest they come
