  1. Thanks. You've both been really helpful. Sounds like its time to build on my one and only knot (that I learnt online when I got sick of needing my partners help every time I snagged) .. I'll grab some braid when I get a chance and give it a go
  2. Thanks Tom. I'll try a smaller sinker and see if it helps. I might try braid again some time. Perhaps what I bought was a crap brand or something. It was just like cotton and flew around a stack in the wind so really put me off. I had no idea if I was getting bites or not as I couldn't get any tension. Is there a particular brand/type you would recommend? Also.. If you don't use a sinker do u tie the line straight to the hook or still use a swivel? Sorry bout all the questions, I'm still learning so the more info and knowledge I can gain the better
  3. Thanks. I use a 7ft 2 graphite, but with 10-12lb line as that's all my rod is rated to. I've given braid a go a few times and have hated it, but might try again some time!
  4. One last question.. When you say 'unweighted prawn', does that mean with no sinker at all? I never fish without a sinker. I'd hate to think how short a distance I'd b casting
  5. Thanks heaps for that. I'll give it a crack over the weekend
  6. Mac attack.. When u say u fish off the bank, are you referring to somewhere between the bridge and boat ramp? I've been trying further along and I'm wondering if that's where I'm going wrong
  7. Ok thanks .. Otherwise I'll leave her home the 1st time I go just to be sure.
  8. Can anyone tell me if dogs are allowed at balmoral? I often take my puppy with me.. Just wouldn't want to drive all the way there and then find out she isn't allowed
  9. Lol Dan. Thanks so much.. Sounds great and easily accessible from the supermarket which is even better
  10. Is there a particular brand of the burley pellets that's best? Or are they pretty much all as effective as eachother?
  11. Thanks. I've got the burley bucket already, but was just put off after the bug incident. I'll definitely buy some pellets though Here's hoping it makes a difference! Thanks again for your help
  12. Thanks for that.. And glad to hear you've become much more successful I've been fishing about a year and a bit.. I asked my partner to take me one day (thinking I'd just give it a go and not really like it much) and haven't looked back! He taught me the basics that he learnt as a kid, but the rest of it Ive researched myself. There's so much to learn, but I know once I land my next legal fish I'll forget all the frustrations
  13. True about the burley. I'm guilty when it comes to that.. What are the options though? I bought a mix from tackleworld once that had live bugs moving in it. Scared the crap out of me (I'm very bug phobic) so haven't actually bothered again. What's the cheapest and easiest option?
  14. Ok, so yep.. It was you I don't fish there often, have only tried about 3 times. I was over that way looking at cars though so thought I'd give it another shot. It's as far to drive there as anywhere else from my place. I live out near blacktown so don't exactly have anywhere local lol
  15. Ok, so they were mullet. I had a feeling they might've been but wasn't sure. They seemed to be nibbling, just couldn't hook them! And yep, I was there in the avo. Was with my partner, but he wasn't fishing. I did see some people flicking lures.. Were you on your own down to the left and then on the old boat ramp?
  16. Nice.. That's even better as I begrudge paid parking. It's one of the reasons I haven't yet tried Clifton Gardens! Thanks so much for all your help
  17. Yeah, I'll definitely go through the week as I hate crowds. I can't yet bring myself to use live bait.. I may work up to it one day though. At the moment I'd be stoked with catching anything other than tiny tailor so hopefully I can manage that with chicken and prawns. Oh, is parking paid there? And if so, do u know how much it is?
  18. Thanks so much for the speedy reply! I've read good things about Balmoral wharf on here so it was next on my list of places to try. You've reassured me it was a good choice
  19. Hi everyone, I'm in desperate need of help please! My last few outings have been less than productive and left me so frustrated. I've tried near the Roseville Bridge and Figtree Bridge on the lane cove river and caught nothing but baby Tailor. At Greenwich and Clarke's Point only baby Snapper and then today at Carss Park there were fish jumping all over the place but couldn't manage to hook anything For bait I've been using chicken with garlic/Parmesan, prawns and squid. Does anyone have other places I can try? I can only walk a short distance (not for kms to access the spots) and am also unable to balance on rocks as I've got dodgey legs. Any help would be very much appreciated Kirst
  20. Thanks.. That seems the most practical option I just wasn't sure if there was a better way. Using the float does make more sense though now that I've thought about it
  21. I just figured there may be some way to rig it so it's free running and will always stay upright and on top of the water
  22. Thanks for all the input. Sorry, didn't really think of mentioning the purpose I want it for! It's not really as an attractant.. More just to get an idea of where my line is. I find I snag more at night cos I can't see what I'm doing

Hi Sam. I'm unsure if your tapatalk is the same as the iphone version I'm using.. If so, then to write a new post go into the part of the forum you want to write in. Then there should be a button on the top right .. Press that and then u get the option for 'new post'. With uploading photos: down the bottom of the page u are on when replying (or posting something new) u should have different icons. On mine the camera is on the left. Hope I've helped at least a little Kirst
  24. Hi all. Hope I'm posting this in the right place! Just wanting advice on how to rig up my line with a glow stick (for night fishing)? I dont want it on the rod tip.. Would really prefer it on my line. I've used them in the past by attaching to my float, however if I'm not using a float I have no idea how to do it. Any help would be most appreciated!!!
  25. Thanks for the replies didn't even notice the teeth! I'll be sure to remember if I catch another 1 tho. Pretty sure this was just a baby.. But might catch a bigger one some day. Speaking of which though.. Is there a resource that tells u where each fish has spikes etc? I know bout flatties and bream but not sure about much else!
