Ok. Week a go catch my pb zander, after that nothing. Yeastarday i think that i take half day for fishing. Tuck stuff and drive to boat, thist time did`nt forget net. I prepared boat and saw that frontmotor remote control is home. Call to Saija and she drive it to pier (we have only 800m from home to pier). Usually i start fishing same closest spots, but now i did drive straight to ”rusty Signs” where i catch my pb zander last year and this year, there is 2-3m, side to 4m deeb water Heavy wind, and still strong stream. Use same softplastic that zander week a go. 2 cast, nothing, 3´th cast, wind in close to boat. I let 2-3m line on water and ”fluttering” lure same time when i try get my shirt better protect to neck for wind use other hand. Fish hit heavy and start pull line. Again i was so close sign that drive longer from sign. But wish didn´st came, only pulling. So i was sure that hook stay bottom with fish and drive under stream try get it out from stone hole. It was not any hole, fish was big, i was sure that it is pike. Pike came closer to boat and i lockit i pilot middle of stream. Now i had bigger equipmets, 2500 clas reel, 0.12 or 0.14 braid and 188cm rod 10-40g. Still fish pulling and only stay bottom. Cant use brake too much for stream that fish cheek not broke or hook not straight. So try take video but camera memorycard end. But becouse fish only stay, and moves calmy on the bottom, tstart make space to memory card. Then fish get agressive and pulling 10-20m line and i cant do nothing, only wait. Then i start pumping slowly closer boat, really slowly. (mostly fish´s escape for too tight line/brake and too fast pumping). Get it back maby 5m and it pulling again 10m line and stay bottom. Not move any, so i let it to be there, ihave not horry. 10 minutes is going and i havent even see it fish yet. I worry about that stream, is it so heavy and i have only 2/0 hook on my jighead, cant pulling too much for that too, that hook is not straight. And my net, heavy rubber net, how i get bish in net, becuse i know that net surfing on tom for stream? So, cant thinking anymore, have to wind in, fish come to boat, but pulling again side to boat. Now have to go about 15min and finally i saw it, big, big pike, least 7-8kg. (Old record is 5.45kg). How to hell i get it on net alone on this stream? Get fish close to boat, but it pulling again 15m line. Now fish start to be tired and surfing on top, but i cant pulling to boat for stream. Get onse enough close for netting but its diving on bottom. I have to try scance place with front motor, even i afraid that i hit to bridgepillar or shore stone. I try new netting spot, but still too heavy stream. Fish is really lightly on hook, i am sure that its escape becouse i have to made maneuvers. So i drive so close to shore that i can, finally i can maneuvering fish from upper stream to understream and in net. Full fight is get 35min and fish is completer tired. Get fish in net and boat and saw that hook is on net, be close that lose fish, if line loose any seconds, i am sure that did lose fish. Tuck some bad photos and call to Saija ”i get my pb pike, bring scale to pier”. Saija is worrybout is it bigger that she´s 8kg pb pike. And it is, 12kg/120cm, biggest fish what i ever catch from Finland Have to find some way netting on stream, or even get fish enough close to boat, or is it only way drive spot where is lightly stream?? There is one photo close shore where i finally get in net. Then is one photo where is "maneuvers route". There is small rusty sighn, tyhen spot where i did move for fighting and x`s is spots where i try use net.

Couple of days after Vilis first Zander i mede many empty trip to river, complete notheing, not even with baitfish. Then one day cach 6 bite but cach nothing. Then few days not interesesting go fishing for nothing. Week a go from this day back i start boat again. Fishing some bite fish first and think that if softplastic not work, i try with bait. I id wait call from healtycenter nurse and think that cast couple of cast before she call. Drive to ”Rusty sign” where we catch last year my and Vili´s pb pikes and my Pb Zander. Cast few cast but nothing. There is strong stream 2-4m deep and water going 2-3m/second. I had by perch/zander softplastic rod, really flexible and 20g gighead was oversize to rod. Reel was 1000class and with 0.12mm braid. I let it anyway on water about 2m line and ”fluttering” (right word?) it. BANG, fish hit it. Was sure that pike. But was only 2m from sign, so i did drive 20m further that line not broken to sign. Same time nurse call and i sayd to her: (sorry, but i cant talk now, i have my record pike on line”. And she sayd ”then is better end this call”. So fight continue that new place where is 4-6m deep and strong stream. About 10min fight i saw that is it not, pike, it is zander, least 4.5kg zander (my old record was 3.5kg). Fish start to be tired, but stream is so strong, that is really hard pull fish side to boat for netting. I was sure, that if i pull harder, the hook come of, but if i am not pull, its never come. So what to do? I use my boat ” surf stream stopper” and surfing ”zigzag” fish closer boat that way. Then netting: I had only smaller net with me and stream is still problem. Net ”sliding” on surf, how to get fish in, becousen net go wrong way all time.. So i get fish same level on net, but cant pull up on one hand, and fish teeth stuck on net ”great”. I turning net way and othet many times and was sure that hook come of. Finally i get it on net and on boat. Full fight about 20min. . Allmoste smile, was sure that my pb zander. Least 5kg. Drive to home, becouse forget scale there. Zander was 7.25kg/87cm. Stomach was full off fish´s but still it bite my softplastic, my lucky. Have to try find some way netting on strong stream. One repor by other fish come later, now have to rest.

Went with me and boys short fishing session on river with softplastic. I had allso empty trips earlier days, complete nothing, not even bite. Vili sayd that this year he want cach zander, any size. We try many spots, Veikka allso casting, nothing. Then we think that trolling slowly with softplastic, quite deep water (9-10m) for that, but try. Soon Vili sayd. ”fish on”, short fight and Vili´s very first zander was on boat. 38Cm, so under size cuple of cm, but Vili was quite happy. I casting one cast to same place and first cast fish on. Soon Vili use net and 45cm zander on boat, first to me this season. Then we let to shore and boys want drive, both drive boart quite nice.

We went Saija´s parents cabine some weeks a go. Moskitos was wake up and was warm day. Saija and her mom drive shopping flowers and Saija´s dad let with me and boys to fishing some pikes. Small lake was quiet really quiet. Casting after casting but nothing. Just think that leave to cabin, but i did try cast between stics and rocks, really shallow water, 10cm deph by softplástic. Wind in and saw that ”torpedo” coming from shore, fish on, short fight and Vili use net. Catch panfrie pike, 1.6kg.

We went hunting ducks morning with Veikka. No ducks, but veikka want made fishing rod for playing. So i did give his knife to him and help little. So ve had straight 150cm long stick, with out sticks. Evening he sayd, that he vant really line and hook his rod and try go fishing. So we did, but i was sure, that only small hook what i had, was too big for fishs. BUt with worm, it was not too big and he catch roach. I allso catch accidentally pike by pink softplastic, 1.90kg. So all time go to fishing not need be too complicated, only go to fishing with out any plans and moders gears.

Fried on pot with rye flour. Tail parts where is bones, we made fishcakes.

We went some days a go fishing with Vili, Shappo, Shappo`s brother and me. We fishing baitfishes before leave to river. Shappo´s brother was our "guide" and first we stop redfinn spot. Put 3 baitrod on water and start fishing by softplastic. Shappo`s brother fish on, big redfinn, and we saw that hi didnt fishing by softplastic. He fishing with dead bait. Line, small weight and hook. Fishing style same that softplastic fishing. Ok, we continue, and he catch second big redfinn. Soon he had bigger fish on. Pike 92cm soon on boat. Cach and releace. Soon other big pike on, about same size soon on boat. Then i cach small about 1.4kg pike. Shange spot and soon he had fish on, shotrt fight and pike 6.3kg/ 93cm on boat (quite fatty). Then i start fishinh same style, with dead bait. 2th cast and fish on, short fight and Vili and Julle use net. Pike 5.4kg/97cm. Same weight that my pb but longer. 4 cm longer that Julle´s fish, but 900g less weight. Julle catch allso 92cm pike again. Wer change spot to rusty sign. I had save biggest bait for this spot. Again put 3 baitrod on water and start casting with dead baits. Julle get many bites, a catch one small redfinn. Then Vili had fish on, short fight and 3.3kg/83cm pike on boat, that we tuck for eat. Julle cach one small wish also. But my biggest bait, it was stuck on cable and line broke soon. So, we cach 8 Pike, 5 biggest was about 25kg together, and 3 smaller. Size was something 50cm to 97cm. (Julle catch 5 pike and i cant remember all). Shame that Shappo catch nothing this trip??? But was nice that Vili catch again some bigger fish. Shame that we have only couple of pictures.

Hi. I have been lazy made reports, becouse i have so poor and slow edit pictures. Some weeks a go we went boating with family. Swimming ext. We allso fishing and we arrived to "rusty sign". I casting couple of times and big fish on, but only 3-5 seconds and line broke. Was big pike and cut my fluoro carbon. Family leave back to home and i pick up Shappo on boat and we drive back to rusty sign, put baitrods on water and start fishing. Mabu 5-10minutes Shappo had fish on. Big pike and after short fight i use net, but it was allmoste too small. Pike 8kg/104cm. I think that it was maby same how steal my softplastic before. That was only fish that evening what we cacth.

@big Neil I have biger net, but i let it home becouse it take so much space and we went first only boating and swimming with family. Btw, Shappo was last evening alone fishing same spot, on shore with out boat. He did fight 20minute with 100-120cm pike, but pike bite cut 0.40mm fluorocarbon. Btw2. I just notice that you have catch 101cm flathead!!?!?! 😲. Ihave been keep target 100cm flathead, but now i have upgrade my target to 105cm flathead. ( Good reason travel to Australia again 😉 )

PB pike. Short report about my PB pike. We went yeastarday all family on cruising on lake. Swimming ext ext. Allso ate some ice creams on shore. Was 6pm when we arrival back to harbour. Saija, Veikka and piki dog drive to home, but i call to Shappo00 and asking him fishing for short time with me and Vili. I pick up Shappo and drive back to harbour. We drive slowly to ”hotspot” and fixed gears ready. First Shappo fishing baitfishs for us. One roach was small and he want put back in river, but i sayd that i can use it. Last time was big bait= big fish and now should be small bait= big fish. We catch 7 roach for bait and slowly drive to rusty sign. Same spot where i catch last time my pb zander and Vili catch pb pike, and Shappo catch allso big zander. We locket i pilot and i sayd to Vili that he can start fishing with softplastic and i start made ready bait rods. Shappo allso start casting with softplastic. I tuc that smallest roach and put line on river. start fixed Vili´s baitrod, and looking why my rod ”shaking”, test but didnt feel any fish there, so i loose more line on river. Start again fixed Vili´s rod, but still my rod shaking, but reel didint give noice. So i put brake tight, waind loose line in and pul fast. ”Fish on” i sayd and could`nt belive, same spot again, and igain something big. I ask Shappo if he can made video again. I remember, that i allmoste lose my pb zander, becouse brake was too tight, so i did try assembly brake enought tight, but not too tight. I was quite calm, if fish escape, it escape. So fish pull, i pull. Its coming closer and ipromise to Vili that he cant try use net. Net use was more complicated that normal, becouse we had only short handle and smaller net, allso stream make it difficult. I pull fish near to boat and we did try get it net first time. Didnt want go and fight continue. Finally fish was enought tired and Vili get it head on net, and i sliding end of the net around pike. I was sure, that it was my PB pike. Shappo had measure and we check it 90cm and scale show 5.45kg. What a fight and what fish, biggest fish what i have ever catch in Finland. ”Wohoo” i little smile, least allmoste. We still continue fishing and change spot once, Shappo had bite on softplastic but nothing more anymore. So drive back to harbour, stop take one more picture pike with me and Vili on sunsed light. Then back to home, and then cleaning fish. Today we again ate fish and ships finnish version. Sorry my english, i am too lazy use google translator. So we had first fishing session together yestarday. Plan was fishing with softplastic and with bait. Weather was challenging: rain, no rain, sunshine. So i put rainclothesd (what i bought from Australia). I was sweated, and feel cold same time. First we did try near bridge, Shappo00`s spot, where he catch many zanders couple of days a go. Nobody home there. So we did move other side bridge. Shappo00 fishing baitfish, i casting with softplastic, and get couple of bites and lost one hook for pike. Shappo00 catch some roachs for bait, but it was quiet spot. So we did drive to ”tweed place” try for pikes and redfinn perch´s, but it was allso empty spot. So back other side bridge to new spot. There we get some bites but no more, not even with baitfish. Again rain and not rain and rain and sunshine. We trolling slowly to new spot, there again some bites but not more. Then try new redfinn spot, but nobody home. So rain, no rain, windy, calm water, i feel cold and sweating, strange weather. Oh!!, did i told that rain, no rain ext ext.. We move new spot to me, locket i pilot, put bait with sink, 3.5m deeb and quite heavy sream. So we both put baits and casting with other rod by softplastic. I think that i have fish on, on bait rod, but no, there is not enyone. Casts after casts, but not even bite. I told Shappo00 that move next spot and stard wind in bait rod. ”FISH ON” there, and fight start. I tought that it is fish, but it is allso on stone or something, but then reel start keep noice. ”Oh yeah” nice fish, should to be, maby big pike. Shappo00 put net ready, and i try keep line faraway from engine. Fish pull, i pull and sweating. Slowly fish come to closer. ” Zander, it is not pike, it is zander”. I sweating more, but then it is happen, we get fish on net and in boat. It really is my pb zander, 71cm and 3.5kg. I forget that i am finnis guy and hug Shappo00, what a shame, but i can live with that, becouse finally i cach over 2kg zander. And ofcource this is my PB zander. We took pictures ext. and i ”collected my self”, allso fixed gears and start casting with softplastic. 2-3 cast and fish on, Shappo00 use net and we had 1.9kg, 65cm pike on boat. Weather was nice, no cold, no sweating. So we took a break. We did drive to harbour wait my older son Vili, becouse he was come to with us after he visit birthday parties. So we drive to harbour, clean fishes, and i bring fishs to my home fridge. Shappo00 stay looking boat in harbour. I did eat fast, made some sandwichs for Shappo and drive back to boat. Vili was there allready waiting, so we start boat and drive same spot where we get that fishes before. I sayd to Vili, that i not fishing anymore, and we put one baitfish rod for him, and he can fishing same time with softplastic. So we arrived on spot, there is old rusty sign. So put front motor i pilot on, and drop bait to bottom. Vili start casting and Shappo00 start casting. Maby 15 minutes later i start move bait rod closer to boat, but it was stuck on bottom. No it was not, there was fish on line. Quick shange rod to Vili and fight start. Vili was allmoste too exited take a rod first, but after that quite calm and done nice and easy, "pull, wind, pull, wind..". We was allready practice last week how fight with fish, pull slowly, and wind in, pull, wind, and he made it good. Only problem was engine, becouse fish try go around motor, and rod was quite bend. But then fish start to tired and come closer. ”Pike, big pike”. I did give camera to Shappo and tuck net ready. We get pike on net, but it jump back to open water, but (huh) still on line, i was allready sure that i screwed up. Vili pumping it closer and finally we get it in net and in boat. But still it want escape and try jymp out from boat, so use priest fast, then fish calm forever. Huh what a fight, i was so happy and Vili was so exciting, Pike 93cm and 5.110kg. We take rest with Vili, fixed gears and talk about that fight with fish, but same time Shappo say ”fish on”. Allmoste same spot that Vili´s pike, only 2-3 meters from that. Bait rod again, we whatching Shappo and fish fight, fish coming closer slowly. I Use net, and we had new zander on boat, 3.3kg. Soon after that we drive back to harbour. Ofcourse took time fixed boat, and drive back to home. Saija and Veikka was still wake up, and they made ready some hot shandwich´s. We ate, and took dessert´s really nice coocies from Holland what Shappo00 give us. Have to say, that that coocies is yammy, we wait every year summer, when he come and bring it. Then was time fillet fishs, lot fillet for pot and for fishcake Good day, only 4 fihs, but my pb zander and Vili pb fish ever, that 5.110kg pike, bigger fish what i have ever catch in Finland. And top of the cake, Shappo cach big zander allso. Weather was strange, but nice, and we saw allso one ospray. Now is 1:30 am, and i end this story. Put on he forum tomorrow. Swordie heve been sayd to me allready years, that : "put your zanders to fishraider record topic". And i have allready says on years that "No, not before i catch least 2 kg zander". So now i can do it.
