  1. Cheers boys will let you know how I go!
  2. Hey guys planning on heading out in the Port Hacking in the next couple of days! I am hoping to find some yakkas although got no idea on where to go as only fished there a couple of times! Has anyone been having much success getting live bait? Any locations or tips would be much appreciated!
  3. Hey mate where did you get the yakkas from? Did you get them on bait or the Sabiki Rigs?
  4. Hey guys I am heading to Thailand in December for 2 weeks and wouldn't mind doing some fishing whilst I'm over there. Anyone fished over there with any success? Can anyone recommend any good charters to go on or even which ones I should keep clear of? I would be looking at doing some game fishing. I am staying in Phuket. Thanks
  5. A few years back fishing Montague Island chasing kings the old man would always put on the blue brothers when it was a bit quiet. It always seemed to bring a fish or two around.
  6. With all the reports of a heap dollies about and with a day off Wednesday I am going to head out and give it a crack for the first time. Is there anywhere in particular I should go? Any tips or tricks anyone might want to share would be great. Where to go etc? What rigs? Slow troll livies or stop and throw em over? Burley? I will be heading out from the Hacking. I will be hoping to load the tank full of livies first thing. Thanks and fingers crossed I can find em.
  7. Hey guys I am buying a new downrigger this week and am just wondering on where the best place to set it up on the boat would be. Port or starboard side along with how far back or more to the front it should be? I have plenty of room to set it up anywhere I'm just a little nervous of actually running the cable over if I set it up in the wrong place (if there is a wrong place).
  8. Got the boat ready Monday arvo for an early start Tuesday. Went to go fuel up and left the phone on the back of the boat. Found it a few streets away all smashed up and broken so sorry no photos. At the ramp 5.30am and not long after had the live bait tank full. We headed south where we fished for a few hours for nothing. Plenty of bait around but no kings. Decided to head back into the river as I've heard rumours of a few being caught. Anchored up and with a nice burley trail flowing we started to see some fish come aboard. All snapper ranging from 25-29cm's so no keepers. Soon after the kings showed and managed to have some fun with them on light gear. Kings ranging 59-63cm so again no keepers. It looked as though there were some bigger one amongst them. They were following every other fish we caught to the boat including having a go at a nice size flounder on the surface. Also managed to pick up a cobia on very light tackle which went 70cm. Was a good fight. Was a good day out.. looking forward to getting back out there! Cheers
  9. Nice catch they're mate. There is a boat ramp right there at kurnell which the council have just done up. I haven't used it myself but I've heard good things. I tend to use 'hole in the wall' at sylvania waters. Never had any dramas there. Where did you find the live bait?
  10. Hey guys I will be taking the boat out off bellambi Thursday morning after reading the reports few snapper being caught. Just bought myself two new snapper outfits and stocked up on SP's at BCF. It's my first real crack at them on SP's. Anyone been out there recently? Any tips on SP's techniques would be great also. Cheers
  11. Anyone know how long the jackets hang around for. They have been here for a while now in big numbers. I was thinking about heading out on Tuesday but I dunno if it's worth it.
  12. Take plenty of tackle. Plagues of leather jackets!
  13. G'day all, I've seen a few posts on here recently and there is quite a few people having the exact same problem as me. LEATHERJACKETS! I have been doing quite a bit of fishing from outside Port Hacking down to Bellambi and cannot get away from them. Losing way to much gear. Starting to cost me a fortune. What are people's thoughts on using wire traces? I have never used them before. Do you think this will work not only to maybe catch a few for a feed but to even get my baits through them to catch what I am really after. Any tips or tricks would be great! Cheers Cam
  14. I was out Tuesday morning as well went out down south from the hacking. Jackets everywhere. Lost a heap of gear. Couldn't find any snapper though. Was pretty quiet out there other than the jackets.
  15. Just got back from down there. Got down Thursday night and left this arvo. Didnt get out to the island once. Seas were massive. Did manage to have a fish off the bar and got a few nice salmon. Other than that spent quite an amount of time at the pub.
  16. Great haha! The one weekend I can actually get away for a few days and have a fish they predict 7m seas. Oh well I'll still be heading down. I fished down their every Easter for 15 years but due to work haven't been down the past 5. Hopefully the weather conditions change. Fingers crossed.
  17. Heading to Narooma Thursday night for 3 days fishing at Montague Island chasing kings. Anyone fished their lately or heard if they are getting any good fish there? Can't wait to get there. Fishing Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Hopefully the weather and seas are kind. Cheers Cam
  18. I'm heading down Narooma next week fishing the island Friday, Saturday and Sunday! Hopefully the kings come on. Got a mate there at the moment and has said they have been a bit quiet with only the odd one caught. It's a great place.
  19. Mate I have been crossing the narooma bar for past 15 years. I was doing it alone as a 15 year old in 17ft boat. Obviously pick your days and you will be fine. When heading out as said above you must fully commit. There is no turning back otherwise your in trouble. Throttle into the swell/wave and as you hit it back right off and roll over. Once over throttle up repeating this process until your out and in the clear. On some nice days you can just cruise out with no issues at all. When coming back in you want your approach to come from more of the southern side as waves will be more than likely breaking on the northern side (opposite when heading out so approach from northern and head south) Don't be afraid to sit back and wait for the right time to come through. Pick your swells. Find a nice spot and sit on the back of wave as you come through. Don't go over the front or fall to far back so the wave behind you catches you. A good tip drive around to the bar and watch others go out and come in.
  20. Hey mate I'm hitting the bay Wednesday. Any tips on where to get the yakkas and squid? I can never find em! Cheers Cam
  21. Thanks fellas.. Also I have just had a new sounder installed. It's the garmin echo 500c! Anyone had any experience with these? What should I be looking out for on the sounder?
  22. Heading out for a bit of night fishing in the georges river one night this week on my new boat. Hoping to land my first Jew on it although have no idea what I am doing. I have never targeted them before. I have a few places in mind that I want to try but other than that I got nothing. Should I be using live bait? If so where I can find it. I will be more than likely putting the boat in at bonnet bay. Any little tip would great. Not looking for every detail but just something to get me started would be tops. Thanks in advance Cammo
  23. Thanks fellas. Just like this time last year massive down pour of rain before we went and it killed the fishing, plus all the sh!t in the water. See how we go anyway.
  24. Hey mate I'm heading up there in a week or so on a houseboat. Let me know how you go. Goodluck
