  1. Hope this works,my AV is a vessel i used to run when on holidays when i was about 12-15 yrs of age on Lake Eucumbene in the Snowy Mtns NSW. i managed to track her down to a marina in Sydney. She is a a hire vessel now for dinner and night runs and such.. Pm me for details. And no im not affilated with the hire mob. But they were more than happy to send me some pics of the old girl.. oh and if anyone knows of the history of the Snowy ferry which did the same run,i would love to hear from you Cheers Twoducks
  2. Thanks for the feedback, Yeah the sandings a pain..lol and i think we could have done a bit more to tell you the truth. But the owner was in a hurry to get on the water. Will have to update my page when i get a chance, and put some of the other restos me and my mate have done. Just waiting till i build my new pc. Cheers Twoducks
  3. Hi all, just wondering if there is any interest in the old sweet water stuff. I know a lot of the dams are well down on capacity. Old lake lyell/Eucumbene guy myself But is anyone still out there giving it a go, love to here from anyone still out there. Cheers Tducks
  4. Some of the best advice ive heard. Father inlaw is a gun as is the wife, All ill add is dont be afraid to use bucket of sand burley mix for bank or shore fishing as well. And if nothings happening throw a rock in, and wait 2 minutes and they will come and investigate. How do i know ive seen my father in law do it, and we have come home with a feed or two for sure Cheers Twoducks
  5. Well asked my mate and he said best way was to get the missus out there when it rains to lift the cover up to let the excess water run away...lmao. I wouldnt dare...lmao sort of like being asked does my bum look big in this( there is no answer to that) Cheers Twoducks
  6. Very nice resto, put abit of work in good onya Cheers Twoducks Heres mine home.exetel.com.au/altina
  7. Easy smoking, is worse and yes this is coming from a smoker! Its very simple really, our lungs are designed to take in air not smoke. Why am i still smoking...well thats another story as all us smokers know! Cheers Twoducks
  8. I think I can talk with some authority on this subject. There are no hard and fast rules as to which tides to fish for blackfish - it is very dependant on the spot. Like all fishing you need to think like a fish. Why would fish be in any location at any one time? for a feed!! Thats for sure my father in law,and in fact the missus are gun Blackfishermen/persons..lol. Ive been with him when when the wall at North haven is black with them and they wont take a bait. And other times no sign of them, and guess what the father in law does throws a rock in and waits two mins or so,and they all come looking....next its a couple or three for dinner. Blackfishing is a black art and if you can get a bud..or in my case a father in law whos fished only Blackfish all his life, you will be on your way Cheers twoducks
  9. Blackfish without doubt, one of the best feeds going. Father in law is one of the best blackfisherman ive seen at North haven, thats all he fishes for has done all his life. Never seen a fisho fillet like him, maximum meat no bones ever. And to cook simple in flour then and on to the pan, but for goodness sake dont overcook! What is really nice too is Mccormacks tempura mix on fillets, and deep fry, once again dont overcook. cheers twoducks Quinny resto http://home.exetel.com.au/altina/
  10. Well had the chance to got to narrabeen, but have godaughters engagement on Sat so a few will be sunk..lol Quinny restoration http://home.exetel.com.au/altina/
  11. Well thats a first for me Flathead/Bream at Warragamba! more likely some nice trout in the upper reaches. (Brotherinlaw of mine, has a workmate has some sort of access there its on his property) As for bass head up to your left from the boat ramp at tenches reserve, and mind the narrows a few large bolders there Cheers Twoducks
  12. Well me and my bud have Wattos rod holders on our boats, yes they are plastic although quite robust!(big word for a friday) not stainless and have worked fine. Also they have 3 different mounting options have a search on Wattos.. see what ya think cheers Twoducks
  13. Ok my buddies and i have been all around the Hawkesbury over the past 6 mths, and all we get is the usual small squire and small bream. the occasional flatty worth taking home, but other wise not alot. We have been about Bar point, under the bridges, flint and steal Juno and the like and it all seems to be small stuff. Not asking for rod benders, but is there still decent fish to be caught in the hawkesbury. oh and fresh bait is bought every time..lol Cheers twoducks
  14. Boy Lake George. brings back memories. in the old days used to fish Eucumbene. Was always a bet wether lake george would have any water in it on the drive down from Sydney. Brother inlaw used to fish it for redfin, and did pretty well. Cheers twoducks
  15. Well Stewy as a old western boy my self, i have seen a wild kangaroo. Running up the Great western Highway at cobham up the hill just before kingswood. How do i remember..... i got collared by the highway patrol for a u turn over double yellow lines, while dropping the missus off at work..he let me off...lol cheers twoducks
  16. Thanks fishing rod, will have a look at that mag. May even ring the old caravan park we used to stay at to see if i can get any info Cheers Twoducks
  17. Hi all, when i was a young lad used to fish Eucumbene (NSW lake) for trout. Anyways had quite a few trips on two vessels down there the Eucumbene and the Snowy both were ferries on Eucumbene. Met a bloke called Tim who used to run the Eucumbene and had a week or so piloting her to Eucumbene Dam with tourists in the early 80's. So anyone know how i could get some pics of these two vessels or history?. They were both based at Old Adaminaby. Sorry for the long post....lol Cheers Twoducks

    Outboard Flaps

Very true Geoff, friend of mine had a small carribean with a 70hp Johnson on it. Complained that it sat on its backside all the time when he took off. Went with him to Botany did the easy does it take off then as the nose came down a tad more throttle then trim. Result no more nose in the air! Cheers Twoducks
  19. Now that is a nice beast, lots of luck on her. Looks at my old Dehav and sighs..lol best of luck Twoducks
  20. Well the most simple way is get on the dog and bone and ask them what their definition of locked to the trailer means, that way youre covered!. Get them to send you a definition. And once you have complied make sure its on your policy Cheers twoducks
  21. Must agree with Flightmanager, regardless if your boat does over 10knts you should be licensed. And besides its more than worth it to get your license, you will learn alot markers and such. My first boat was a 10ft with a 6 hp Johnny used to fly! Will a Zodiac be a good fishing machine um depends on the angler..lol just kidding.. sure it will. Have seen some awesome vids of Zodiacs in the rough stuff. Cheers Twoducks
  22. Will get my mate to have a look at his asap, been a while since we put her together. Just cant remember if the hinges were held by stainless screws or rivets. You can get rust/staining if they are normal steel screws against alloy/Aluminium. Usually we use either stainless rivets or stainless nuts/bolts/screws. Cheers Twoducks
  23. Yes its the two cylinder yammy, It was taken out on Australia Day for the first time, more or less for a small run in. He hasnt had a chance to try trolling yet. but he was more than impressed with the ease of starting and performance, pushed the old girl along no problem. Oh and as far as the fishing went not alot about just the usual small stuff and the ever present Catfish!! Cheers Twoducks
  24. Pics of the new 40, yeah i Know i thought it was going to be a 50..lol Should have been out on the Hawkesbury today.. i am awaiting the report [ Will update the website asap,if all works out will have a few more restorations on there Cheers Twoducks
  25. Very tidy there Strikey, yep it does get addictive! just wondering did your boat have a middle seat?, My mates toying with the idea of removing his for a bit of extra room. Also the old 50hp you see on the boat is being replaced this week with a new 40 Yammy...Bloody show off he is if you ask me...lol. Think he just wants to try and beat my old De Haviland with my old 40 Mariner..lmao
