  1. Boys we fished the area for zeros unfortunately. Found the right water just not the fish. Very messy early on but got better as the day wore we were very close where they got the 130 kg jobbie. Went from 21.2 around southern canyons but we found a spot at 19.6 with a floating, log canoe etc Johno
  2. Boys I'm heading out of the Hacking on Sunday and heading south east. I figure if im prepared to push far enough S/E i will find the right water. Yes there is a chance east, wide of Browns but i believe the better odds still lie S/E and Im prepared to go along way if needs be then circle back N/E and follow the wind back in. Johno
  3. Nats send me a PM i may be able to assist with your quest. Johno
  4. Boys, Favourite way to eat fish for me is sashimi and I am a bit of a nut/nazi over keeping it in primo condition. Favourites in order of preference are as follows: Lobster, albeit only had it twice Snapper (small ones are outstanding) YFT (haven't tried SBFT but heard it is better) Kingie Bonito Albacore Trevally Salmon
  5. Hey Peter well done. We started out at the canyons in the morning and trolled towards browns for doughnuts. Deep dropped on Browns for an hour but lucked out. Found some fish on the tide change a few miles n/e of Browns in the afternoon in about 19.7c. Ended up with 4 albies and a YFT of about 25kg. All in all a very good day. Still yet to crack the BFT hoodoo though. What i cant work out is why don't people share more info? As i was leaving about 3pm I got onto 21 and let everyone who wanted to know where we found our fish, just don't understand why people are so cagey. ps from what I've been told the best thing you can do is call up other boats when you find BFT, as the more baits in the water the more likely they are to hang around. Johno
  6. Dear All As promised went for a look yesterday. Got out to Browns yesterday by 7.30 am conditions were worse than forecast and it was quite choppy with wind of about 12-13 knots. Managed to get bottom albeit not straight up and down lost one lot of baits with no hookup. After that the only thing we hooked up was the bottom. All in all seemed pretty quiet out there and none of the other boats seemed to be getting much either. Pulled stumps at 10.30am and set out our spread of mainly tuna lures and headed south, then east and then back towards Browns and over the shelf. Picked up 2 legal dollies and a nice stripey but other than that nada, The Peak was pretty quiet as well. Johno out
  7. Boys going out Tuesday at this stage. Browns first up then see if we can find some yellowfin. Will let you know how we go. Johno
  8. Anyone fished it lately? What is the current like? Johno
  9. Hey mate fantastic fish. Boys the big ones are still out there. We lost one at the boat after about 30-40 mins on 24kg, N/E of the hacking fad. Ours still had a bit of go even at the end and went under the boat and the rest is history. Lesson for the inexperienced - if you are clipped into the reel via the harness unclip when you get it near the boat that way you can put the rod in the drink if the fish takes a last minute dive under the boat. Upon reflection however all I wanted was a photo as we got 2 of around 1.2m last week so im sorta glad we had the quick release. Mike may want to add his version of events. Johno
  10. Damo Still paying my dues this season. Was out Monday for zeroes. Saw the temp break wide of browns today and it looks great. Now how do I convince the missus to let me fill up the boat again....hmmmm Johno
  11. Boys was out yesterday. Stopped at Browns first thing and bagged out very quickly on Gemmies. Heard later that the makos switched on and most boats seemed to be getting sharked. Headed N/E at about 8.30am found some sauries a couple of miles from Browns but no joy kept heading N/E and found some patches of bait near Heatons. Started trolling S/W towards Sthn Canyons heard of one yellowfin dropped and thats about it. Very quiet yesterday albeit some of the bigger boats cubed on dusk and may have had some activity. Johno
  12. Mangus going out Monday so will let you know. Thinking of heading towards the canyons then east then ne to Heatons unless currents change Johno
  13. Boys hoping to head out Monday and break the SBT hoodoo. Ive noticed that temp break has moved in about 20nm over the last couple of days so hopfully it will be on. Johno
  14. Hey Alex My coordinates are 34.12.950 151.29.450 I will be heading that way then east. Call sign Duckegg. Kind regards Johno
  15. Damo Im heading out tomorrow out of the Hacking heading east south east then heading towards Heatons and then coming back via Browns. Any intel would be greatly appreciated. I will be on 21 and 72 call sign Duckegg and always happy to assist. Johno
  16. Mate what boat were you in? We were near the yin caught late in the arvo near browns we you nearby also?
  17. 6784 unfortunately my original post was not clear. Yin caught but not by us goddammit. I think they were both caught on the troll. Would have been very uncomfortable cubing yesterday arvo. Johno
  18. Boys Was out on Everwilling yesterday and got almost to Heatons. No SBT. 2 yellowfin were caught and that was it. Not much activity and even in the 56ft Viking we had a pretty slow and rough trip back. I have a 25 foot Boston and for those of you that havent ventured wide be careful, go with other boats and be very conservative. Even in a 20 knot westerly it will take you a very long time to get home and no fish is worth your life and your crews. I have on occasion seen some 15 foot boats out there and just shake my head. If the weather turns to custard (and sooner lor later you will get caught out) you are in dangerous territory. Johno
  19. Dangas, Are you a chef? What are the recipes ypuve got there they look awesome
  20. Boys We went S/E and found a good temp break in 18.4 about 38nm out. Trolled it then cubed for donuts. There was plenty of bait in the general area also. Tough day at the office but thats fishing. Nick, I heard you on the radio a few times. You probably noticed i was trying to raise honu all day but couldnt speak to him. Albeit i could speak to a friend near browns. Bit frustrating Johno
  21. boys, I am heading out in the morning Going southeast about 55km will be on channel 21 call sign duckegg. Happy to share. Johno
  22. Boys, There is cold water out there but it is very wide at the moment. By my calculations about 160km out. I reckon it will push in over the next week or so. Fingers crossed. Getting the boat serviced in anticipation. Gidday Mark how goes it? Johno
  23. Damian well done. We were out un Saturday and couldnt touch a fish. Pretty sure we were marking fish but they werent interested. Were you down hump way? If you dont mind me asking what depth were you in? Johno
