  1. Chewie, Great fish. I was out Saturday and Sunday and got onto the dollies at the southern fad on Sunday. Got a good feed also but only up to 70-75cm. All the fish were full of small jackets the same as your bull. Got caught coming back in the storm on Saturday, was in a 25ft boat but was still packin brown ones. Congrats mate
  2. Thanks for your comments boys. Sounds like I am not alone at least
  3. Given I haven't posted for a while thought I should log in. Went for a troll this morning to see if I could find some dollies. Tried the close in fad/waver rider buoy? in about 100m water seems to have cooled and there were no dollies on it that I could see. Kept trolling east towards the sthn fad. Pulled one small dollie off it and then tried a live yakka for zeros. Trolled back in but no go. Had a quick troll in close and hooked a rat maybe legal but dropped him at the boat. Hooked a large bonnie but dropped him as a well. One of those days...should have saved some fuel and had some fun in closer. The bigger kings seem few and far between down this way at the moment. Johno
  4. Guys Given I haven't posted for a while thought it may be time for a report. Went out for a troll this morning, tried in at close in fad off Cronulla in about 100m. Water was green and about 21C no dollies. Proceeded to troll east towards the southern fad pulled one small dollie off it and tried some livies for nada. Water got better the further out I went but no takers. Seems the water has dropped in closer. Had a quick troll in close and hooked a rat king and big bonnie both lost at the boat. Decent kings seem few and far between at the moment. Should have spent my time in close would have been more fun. Might go for another quick spin tomorrow. Johno
  5. Butch they are big trag well done. If you don't mind me asking what depth and bait were you using? I think I have found a hole out off Cronulla. Tried it briefly last week and pulled one reddie of 1.5kg and a pannie and then a hole heap of Pike. I suspect there are bigger fish there because of the Pike. Any Pearls you can give me for down this way? Johno
  6. Good fish mate wish I could find one. Pete I'm going out tomorrow weather permitting to have another crack at the dollies
  7. Hey Butch, How are you catching the trag. Presume this is at your usual haunts? Hope you are well mate. Johno
  8. Great pics mate well done on letting the blues go Johno
  9. Mate very good going. I am stuck at home with a boat that wont work. Go figure. Congrats again. Johno
  10. Cool lets hope I can find some on Sunday. Ive got a few new marks to try so lets see what happens
  11. Piratin well done mate. I am yet to emulate your results but I am on my way so thanks for all your help over the last 12 months. Did you get em around 35m? or out wider? I cant go south this weekend as I have to be back mid morning, but im going out the front of the hacking early Sunday to see what I can find. Johno
  12. Yeah it is. Awesome fishing platform just miss a cabin in the middle of winter with an arctic wind blowing in your face. Might have to get the crew together for YFT sesh if you are keen. Pete?
  13. Very funny Pete. I take offence to you callin my baby a 'knob' oven. I do agree however talk is cheap and it is time to smash em yet. Johno
  14. Tony, Fingers crossed. Last couple of trips down south were patchy (pete keeps on jinxing me), so hopefully the fishing gods will smile on me. With the oven must be patient as it is a traditional cob/clay oven so if i fire it up too early it might all go to custard and crack. Boat wise - 24ft outrage. Would have gone out for YFT this week but have been too busy at work. Hopefully will get out the front of the Port for a plastic session early Sunday and road test some spots....fingers crossed. BTW bought one of those Shimano mexican fire rods with Stradic CI4 and 15lb braid and it is an awesome outfit. Johno
  15. Tony Awesome fish mate. Very impressed. I have been spending last 4 weeks making a cob oven, photos to follow. Now I need to get back in the game...once I fill up the beast!!! Pete you are a homo! Johno
  16. Yowie, I was out yesterday and even with the drogue we couldn't fish how we wanted to. Yesterday a sea anchor would have availed you little. I have the biggest drogue you can get and it still wasn't slowing us down enough, the wind was just too strong. Unfortunately the forecast was way off and stuffed up the entire morning. That's fishing I guess. Johno
  17. Pres, For some reason just assumed you were inside the Hacking. Good job. Havent seen any of the cuttlies yet and was out Friday. Thanks mate Johno
  18. Hey Pres where about were the slimies if you dont mind me asking. Wouldn't mind stocking up on some bait. Johno
  19. 480 You tinny bastard. I spent all day Friday trying to find em and only managed a couple of pannies and a gummy. I was fishing with a gimp though (and no I'm not referring to moir Pete) Look at your drifts - looks like you've gone nuts with an 'etcha sketch'. Johno
  20. Big Red goddammit. Was a little difficult to judge the size & weight as I have 20lb braid on my other rigs and this was the first time i had used this outfit. The drag wasnt over the top but neither was it light and this thing took probably half a dozen runs with the old tell tale head shakes. I reckon i was only 30 seconds from getting colour. Oh well it aint the first time and it wont be the last. Put a CI4 4000 with 15lb braid. Have some more expensive reels but they tend to get smashed in the saltwater and the cheaper reels are more than up to the task. Johno
  21. Mike, So I heard, he knows how to make us all look bad. Johno
  22. Frank, Didnt weigh it but probably 8kg.
