  9. Planning a fish next long weekend but need to get hold of some weed. My usual spots have zippo at the moment. I'm Sydney based (Windsor), but could go for a nice drive on Sunday!!! Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers Jed.
  10. Thanks for the heads up guys, Ended up with some out of a storm water drain at Cronulla, (160k round trip), and turned it into 2 blackies from Huntleys point today. Bloody hard work but fun to boot. Mate from tassie caught his first, not a keeper but can at least say he caught one!!!! The 2 we kept were in the 30's range, forgot the keeper net and both were a bit difficult to land on light gear, either way tasted all right tonight with a few beers. Cheers Jed.
  11. Morning all, I've got a mate up from Tassie this weekend and want to take him Blackfishing on Sunday. Does anyone know where there is some weed about?? I'm Windsor based... Cheers Jed. PS: HappyEaster to all

  14. Hi leonardgid, To be honest I wouldn't know, Grandad lived up at Grafton and we were in Sydney. I was about 5 when he passed away. I know my Dad used to cook them whole, baked in foil with sliced tomatoe a bit of lemon and herbs. Myself, I filletted those lot yesterday and egg and bread crumbed them (kids like them better that way!) Other then that I do a similar thing to what Dad did and bake them whole. Have a look in the herb/seasoning/spices section of the supermarket the next time your there, there's a whole range of goodies you could add to make them taste better. Either way, eat them the day (or at least the next) you catch them. Cheers Jed.
  15. After missing all of winter with soccer for the kids on Saturday's and myself on Sunday's, I finally got a break this weekend. Was able to grab some fresh weed during the week from Homebush way ( thanks Howsy for the info from your recent post)and headed to Huntley's Point this Saturday with a good mate Jeff. Hit the spot just on high tide with a wind to send a shiver down your spine. The action wasn't fast and furious, more staedy as you go. We had plenty of burley and managed 6 for the arvo, about 3-4hrs all up. Seemed to hot up when the ferries came and went. After much discussion on the trip back to Windsor, we decided to give it another bash on Sunday. This time we left at 9.30am and fished more of the incoming tide. We grabbed some more weed on the way through and hoped for the best. What a top day, hardly any wind to start with and a all the time in the world, well at least to the footy started anyway!! Well what ever happenned yesterday did not happen today. We grabbed our first within 20mins and then didn't get a hit for another 45mins. What the!!! Ok 2 in the bag, sure we're earlier then yesterday, maybe the top of the tide again?? Top comes and goes, no fish. 2hrs later another ferry docks and departs, Jeff gets a down and one on...sweet...grab the net and in she goes!! Still got the turbelence hanging around and bang I'm on....get the net. Now 4 in the bag and that's how the day ends. Spent about 6hrs down ther for the 4 fish...hence "hard work". Satuday's fish ranged from 30cm to 38cm. Sunday's from 34cm to 37cm. Pretty happy all round anyway, don't get out there that often due to winter sports and try and sneak a fish in between when I can. I fish with a blackfish rod my Dad built for me when I was 7 and use a centre pin reel that was my Grandfathers....try and do it the old fashioned way...love it!!! Jeff and I have decided to try and have another fish before it gets too warm. I want to crack to 40cm mark, fingers crossed. Here's to good fishing and cold beers. Cheers Jed.
  16. Be fishing that drop off again soon no doubt!!!!
  17. Busy little rock ledge that one. 3 of rocked up there at around 11 and it was chockas already. We headed to the other side of the river for a slow 3hr seesion and were able to land 4 in the bag and dropped 2 more. Good size fish as well and I agree that they are fighting hard at the moment. Cheers Jed.
  18. Like to know where you guys get these fish. Spent Friday and today chasing the blackfish with some beautiful weed and only managed 1 fish on Friday. Ended up at Cremorne Point this arvo for zippo!!!! It's killing me. I'm heading for another fish next weekend and could do with a hint or two. Jealousy is a curse.... Cheers Jed.
  19. Arvo fellow Raiders, Crappy day to say the least. Just a quick question, I've got a 4.5mts Qunnie Dory tinnie and am looking to have a bow rail and some side rails installed on it. Does anyone know of a business around the Hawkesbury area that would do that work on a boat? Cheers Jed.
  20. Have a go, Dad, Mum and the teenager kid!!!! Great catch Cheers Jed.
  21. Evening all, When I was a kid and fished with Dad, he used to be able to get from Wharf Rd at Rydalmere. Not a chance these days. I'm on the road everyday with work and am always on the lookout for some green weed, but I gotta tell you it's hard to find. Being west based for work doesn't help!! Last outing I got a mates mate to grab me some from down Woolongong way and even then he said it was sparse. If you've got a spot hang onto it, it's like gold these days. Cheers Jed.
  22. Afternoon all, I'm heading north on the weekend for a few days and have booked into the Patonga caravan park to camp. Never been there b4 and was wondering what it was like, looks ok from google!!! Are the powered site a reasonable size? I'm hopeing to squeeze the boat in as well. Also what's the boat ramp like at the Northern end of Patonga?? I'm hopeing to be able to launch from there. I've got a 4.45 qiunnie dory. Hope the weather turns for the better and the kids get hold of some fish so that we can post a report and some pic's. Cheers Jed.
