After missing all of winter with soccer for the kids on Saturday's and myself on Sunday's, I finally got a break this weekend.
Was able to grab some fresh weed during the week from Homebush way ( thanks Howsy for the info from your recent post)and headed to Huntley's Point this Saturday with a good mate Jeff.
Hit the spot just on high tide with a wind to send a shiver down your spine.
The action wasn't fast and furious, more staedy as you go. We had plenty of burley and managed 6 for the arvo, about 3-4hrs all up. Seemed to hot up when the ferries came and went.
After much discussion on the trip back to Windsor, we decided to give it another bash on Sunday.
This time we left at 9.30am and fished more of the incoming tide. We grabbed some more weed on the way through and hoped for the best.
What a top day, hardly any wind to start with and a all the time in the world, well at least to the footy started anyway!!
Well what ever happenned yesterday did not happen today.
We grabbed our first within 20mins and then didn't get a hit for another 45mins. What the!!!
Ok 2 in the bag, sure we're earlier then yesterday, maybe the top of the tide again??
Top comes and goes, no fish. 2hrs later another ferry docks and departs, Jeff gets a down and one on...sweet...grab the net and in she goes!! Still got the turbelence hanging around and bang I'm on....get the net.
Now 4 in the bag and that's how the day ends.
Spent about 6hrs down ther for the 4 fish...hence "hard work".
Satuday's fish ranged from 30cm to 38cm.
Sunday's from 34cm to 37cm.
Pretty happy all round anyway, don't get out there that often due to winter sports and try and sneak a fish in between when I can.
I fish with a blackfish rod my Dad built for me when I was 7 and use a centre pin reel that was my Grandfathers....try and do it the old fashioned way...love it!!!
Jeff and I have decided to try and have another fish before it gets too warm. I want to crack to 40cm mark, fingers crossed.
Here's to good fishing and cold beers.
Cheers Jed.
