    Ramp Security

hey there i often use the ramp at flower power and i chain the trailer to my car with a padlock , so far so good, but if i was to just leave the trailer there by its self i would be chaining it to a tree and put a wheel locking device on the wheels, i also use the ramp at oatley and always park my car and trailer so that they would have problems getting the trailer off my car and again i always padlock it to my car
  2. hey fellow ive got a cruise craft hustler 570, its 5.7 metres long and is about 1.5 Tonne or so i think and i tow it with a get ready and dont laught i use a 1992 suzuki vitara short wheel base 1.6 litre 4WD, i have a breaked trailer whcih is good down hills but i wouldnt win any races with it as i am pretty slow when towing but the 4Wd always comes in handy at the ramp.
  3. hey there fellow i went out last monday onto botany bay , meet up with a few friends at oatley boat ramp with there boat at 6.30am headed out in to the bay and out to the heads where i picked up a flattie which was 56cms then we headed out side and tried around there not much going on and my mates boat had nothing in it not even a bite, came back in side and tried around the sticks and picked up another flattie of about 50cms, after a while nothing was happening so we took off up the river to the como railway bridge and got heaps of undersize bream but nothing keepable, but we had fun watching all the silly people on the water who didnt know what side of the chanel markers to go on and all the near head on's, meet up with my mates back at the ramp and they only caught undersize breams and flatties so they went home empty handed, i went home with 2.7 kilos of flattie,,
  4. ok thanks for the heads up. ok so what the hell are sx 40's and sx48's ????
  5. wow ok thanks guys. i do most of my fishing in the georges river and botany bay. so i guess i mostly target bream and whitting . with the odd trevally mixed in. so what size and what type of lure would i use for whitting and for bream ??? i guess since they are the 2 most common fish caught im best of starting on them .. ????
  6. hey fellow ive always been a bait fisherman but i really wanna learn the art of lure fishing.. can some 1 please tell me the right way and right lure for fishing i dont really understand the whole consept to lure fishing. i never know what lure to use and what size and ive tried a few times but never caught anything
  7. hello yep chris just way to tight. i guess il have to get the boat mechanic to do it .
  8. i totally agress femalefisho.. i really do think that the msb should really intoduce actual boat driving lessons and not just a stupid computer test.
  9. i heard about that on the radio.. but it was no surprise to me that it happened.. i used to spent but no much lately time out in botany bay and on the georges river. and it came upon me that as soon as a lot of people get on the water they loose all of there common sense. if u cant see very well in front of u guess what SLOW DOWN. just on night fall you should SLOW DOWN. going under bridges u should SLOW DOWN at night u should always keep ur lights on so that other boats know where you are. many times i was going a long . minding my own business travelling on the right side of the channel or water way and some stupid idiot would be comming in my direction and even know im on the right side they would be coming towards me and not change there course which would make me have to change my course to me its pretty simple keep a safe distance from other boats but yet its amazing that people cant follow a few simple rules and use some common sense out on the water
  10. great idea but while using the tool i would no doubt scratch or mark it in some way and im pretty sure the dealer wouldnt give me a refund for something that already had been used. ... and im not going to pay almost a $100 for a tool which i may use maybe once or trice
  11. hey im very soory to hear of all the pain you must have and been put thru.... but i think the best idea as it was said before... set a date.. get the a newspaper reporter there on that date sell of 30 tickets for $30 each..(id be the first to buy 1) and just wreck it burn it and destroy the whole thing in the front lawn of the dealers property and id love to see that . the look on there face would be worth the $30 a ticket. ex since the 30 ticket holders all turned up with there boats on the back so that the dealer would realise how big a deal this really is extreme things mean extreme measures... the dealer is responsible since they are the ones who market the product. well i think so anyway .
  12. hey Chris sad to say that it wont work.. tried and tried and tried but it won't work..any other ideas ??????
  13. ok thanks chris .. il try and do that and il let u know how i go
  14. hey fellow i have a problem which isn't unusual.. my tilt system is leaking hydro oil from around one of the rods at the bottom. which means i gotta replace the little rubber seal .. i just came back from the parts shop and got 2 new little rubber seals and some hyrolic oil but i wasn going to pay $96 for the special tool to undo the top of the cylinder so i could replace the rubber o ring.. does any 1 have 1 of those special tools i could borrow for about an hour or please tell me how to make 1 of those tools ??? im in roselands ????
  15. hey fellow just as update. ive bought a second hand 140hp and im picking it up next wednesday and putting it on the boat. i got it for$2.5k and it seems to go great and very well looked after
  16. thanks for the advice mate il let you know how i go 2morrow.. i found some one who has a 1992 140hp johnson V4 for sale and he is asking $2500 for it. a met of mine and myslelf are taking it out tomorrow for a short run on botany bay. if the motor rounds great and sounds ok and my old one has had it il buy this one and borrow some money of a friend and if my old boy isnt as bad as what ive been told then il just rebore and oversize pistons . thanks for the inside help from a ex mechanic mate i really appreciate the advice. il let you know how i go 2morrow.
  17. hey grantm hmmm you make a interesting point. im no mechanic myself but i guess that mechanics do work for them selves and the more they do the more they make. and i guess since that it was going ok before this happened. just simply reboreing and oversized pistons may hopefully get me a couple of years out of it. im aware that its an old motor and not in perfect condition but im not expecting another 10 yearss out of it. and if its just in ok condition then il simple rebore and oversize pistons in it. which has to be done anyway. if i had the money to spend on making everything in it perfect i would of got a new motor but i dont and i just want it to be ok not perfect.
  18. ok thanks a lot guys for the advice i need all the advice i can get. im getting another guy to look at it on saturday to see what he thinks and the reason why i started to rebulid it is because one of the cylinders had no compression and that as because of the piston damaged the cylinder and so i had to re bore all 4 cylinders and put in oversized pistons. (that was the idea anyway) . i understand that its an old motor and has to have wear and tear but it was going ok before it loss compresion which means the pistons is gone. the old johnsons are as hard and reliable as a old bull and thats why i deided to go with that motor. when this happened i was out on botany bay and with no compression in 1 cylinder and just 3 cylinders going i still was able to get back from the heads back to lurgarno boat ramp. while im still unsure what to do . il have a better idea tomorrow after another guy looks at it for me. id love to be able to afford a good used motor bor around $5000 but i spent all my money when i bought this boat and my catamaran (both at the same time) i paid $9k for tthe boat which is insured for $18k . so im on a really tight budget.
  19. hey fellow As some of you may known i have been in the process of getting my old 140hp johnson rebuilt and i finally got the block of to discover that the boat mechanic tells me that i need new cranks conrods bearings pistons re bore the cylinders at a cost of at least $4500.. and i simply dont have that sort of money on me.. what to do what to do ???? i can either try to find another cheap motor around the $1200 or spend about $800 just getting new pistons and re boreing the cylinders out ???? help i cant decide. and if i only just do that i dont know how long it will last ??? fellow does any 1 know how much and or know some 1 who is selling a old boat motor so i can get out on the water ???? oh and its to go on the back of a 5.7m cruise craft hustler help needed
  20. ok thanks for the advice. im going to get the boat mechanic out to finish the rest as its been a while since ive gone fishing and the fish in my fish tank are starting to look like they could be caught
  21. ok thanks george il call him tomorrow and have a chat to him regarding my outboard.. thanks again. cheers
  22. hey fellow a friend of mine and myself went on the monday to the boat show.. we stayed there the hole day... but left the show for a few a few times or maybe more i cant really remember but as said before there wasnt any real bargains as such. except mabe the 4 million dollar monster cruiser i fell in love with.
  23. ok thanks guys this is starting to become a real pain im thinking it may have just been easier to get a boat mechanic to do the hole thing....hmm does any one know any mobile boat mechanics that could come out to mortdale and finish taking the block off ???? we have no problem putting it all back together again after it gets rebored ect ect::::: but its starting to become a pain
