    Boat Licence

hello fellow 1 of my good mates who often comes out fishing with me is going for his boat licence in a few weeks. i got mine when i was 18 back in 1998 , and he is very worried that he wont pass, from what i remember back then the questions were pretty easy.... have they changed the test at all ??? he knows the basics i think for example what side of the channel and port and starboard ect: so does any one know if the test has changed at all ???? as it was really easy back when i was 18.????
  3. ok thanks fellow ive def be looking at 2 new radios a 27 meg and a VHF radio . thanks for all the advice
  4. hey there, well my name is ben but most people call me skip, ive been married for just on 4 years now and live in Roselands, i work in the security industry with guard dogs and have been around boats since i can remember, ive only been into fishing for about 3 or 4 years now and love to get out on the georges river, botany bay or the port hacking to have some fun, my boat is a cruise craft hustler 570 which ive had for about 6 months now. i live on one of the main roads on roselands right next to the shopping centre and if im not working at work im in the front yard playing with my boat so if you ever see me out the front or on the water come over and say hello
  5. ive got a sore head now. you have just totally confused me .. um so which is the best one to install in my boat ???
  6. ok thanks so then i guess vhf is better for me to install in my boat then ???im just really really concern about safety when it comes to fishing outside as ive seen first hand how quickly the water can change and just how bad it can be and since i wanna head out to the shelf in a few months i need to know that if anything goes wrong i have my 27megs and my vhf radio and my epirb
  7. um hang on a second flightmanager uhf ???? im always getting confused about uhf and vhf ??? which one do u use on the water uhf or vhf ???
  8. hey rzep i have got an old 27meg in there at the moment, but im looking to put in a new 27meg and a vhf as well as i plan on doing a lot of outside fishing this year, i would of thought that the vhf would of got more range then the 27meg ??? why
  9. hey there fellow well summer is almost upon us and i think its time to upgrade my little old twitchy 27meg radio for a new 27meg radio. what are the 2 types of radios for boats i know one is 27meg but what is the other one ?? and what is the best brand to go for ??
  10. hey there fellow just put the stickers on my boat and they look great
  11. ok thanks and how far can a 27meg radio get in distance wise ?
  12. really wow, then you would be about 15 mins from me i live at roselands but my fishing mate lives at peakhurst heights and we always put the boat in at oatley boat ramp at the bottom of the step hill or at revesby
  13. ok thanks sammy0884 i should be putting my boat in at revesby beach 2morrow morning and trying those places. i wanna start fishing in thr georges river more as im getting sick of spending a lot of money on fuel to go fishing in botany bay and the hacking but yet still wanna fish from my boat
  14. hellow fellow i dunno if this is in the right section or not but any way here goes.. what channel should i have my marine radio on to contact fellow fishraiders ??? and what are the main channels for the coast guard ???
  15. hello fellow can any one please tell me of any good spots in the georges river around the revesby beach area or near by ?? for whitting and bream ?? i was told that under alfords point bridge is pretty good can any one confurm that for me ?
  16. to be honest nathan74 i didnt really check to see if they drove or not but i will be down there more often checking to see if they are there. and if i see them there again i will be straight on the phone to the fisheries
  17. hey tiger_shark i should of fone that when i think about it now but its not going to stop them doing it again when i leave. and im pretty sure ive seen them down there before. there really needs to be more fishing inspectors out there , i mean like ive had my boat searched at 2am in the morning a few months ago in the middle of botany bay and i always welcome them on board since i have never got anything to hide and even if my fish are just on legal i still put them back in so i can catch them again when they are bigger . i really just think that maybe there should be more inspectors out there and if it comes down to budget problems well damm. i reckon there would be a heap of us raiders who would put there hands up (myself for 1 ) that would be happy to be volunteer inspectors part time .

    Motor Probs

hey there fellow i got a problem with my 140 hp johnson, when i go to take off from idle i often have hesatation problems but then after a while the hesatation goes and the motor goes great ??? i think it may be the carbi's of maybe its idling to low i dont know ??? and it seems that my alternator isnt working. can any one please help me with these 2 problems or know some one who can ?? im kind of thinking that they can be easily fixed ??
  19. Hey there fellow As i write this im pretty pissed of as i have just returned from morbank to get a few parts for my car but on the way back i thought i would stop in at the chipping norton lakes boat ramp just to have a look at the water, and have a bit to eat for breakfast (yummy hot chips) , while i was there i noticed a family fishing at the boat ramp..ok nothing wrong with that but i after a while i noticed that they were catching plenty of fish but all baby bream from what i could see but i noticed that they wearnt throwing any back...hmmmmm so i decided to watch them closer. it then occured to me that they were catching baby bream and keeping them and when i say baby bream im talking about little ones the size of 6 or 7 cms from what i could see... now what really pissed me of is the fact that they didnt care that they were keeping under size fish and that wee are the inspectors when you need them.
  20. lol thanks ok tiger_shark i just wasnt to sure tats all
  21. tiger_shark are you refering to me ??? if so the boat was weighed in when i bought it and the weight was from memory 1.35 tonne. the motor it self is 150 kilos
  22. thanks guys, from talking to other fishos at the ramp i got the idea that it was a pretty quiet day for fishing last monday on the bay, im just glad i didnt come home empty which i normally do
  23. thanks for that info johnno, ive been looking for that info for a while, i think i may my boat may be a few hundred kilos over i think about 200 or so, my suzuki vitara 2 door 1.6 litre comes in at about 1.2 tonne or so and the boat which is on a braked trailer comes in about 1.5 tonne,
  24. i agree lizard, i cant afford a large 4WD so i just use my vitara 1.6 litre to tow my cruise craft which is 5.7 metres long and ive towed it up to the entrance. but mind you i was on 80 kays all the way and went through 2 tanks of fuel to get there but i got there, sometimes you just have to use what you have got ,(like me)
  25. sounds like you gad a great day out there,, and its a great thing to always pack heaps of food and drink as you never know what can happen out there,, i was fishing with a mate a few years ago and we headed out side i think from memory it was about 7 or so kays and we were only meant to stay out a few hours but the fishing was the best i have ever seen and we stayed out there bot 7 hours so the extra food always comes in handy
