  1. Cheers flattieman! Knew it was only a matter of time,,,,,,,,, hoping to do the same thing tmr as well if Im lucky an get some squid tonight! Dan an Greg
  2. Hey all Myself an Greg went out early morning (2am) for some squid an hopefully some decent kingys! After three hours of squidding we got ONE but full credit to Watto's it was on one of their LED jiggs!!!! Thanks Sean an Claudia! Outa 4 boats squidding last night mine was the only squid i saw caught,,, disappointing! With our only squid we bolted st8t for clifton, anchored up an waited (6am). Didnt have to wait too long after 15mins we had our first screaming run,,, didnt stick . From their the action got real hot, real quick,,,,, double, an triple hookups , missed runs you name it. We even had nearby boaties saying pass us your rod,,,, we will get it for you,,,, hands full,,,,, YEAH RIGHT! In the end we boated only 4 kingys but they were ALL legal!!! WAHOOOOOO considering in the last month we have boated approx 60-100 rats between me, greg an kingsrule on our boat! By 7.30am they had gone off the bite, so we gave em another hr pulling heading home with 4 legal kingys in betwn 60-65cm One of the best days quality wise for us in a bloody looong time,, , parents r eating kingy tonight with the grandparents Dan an Greg
  3. We will be there in our usual position from say 5.30am on wards!!! Dan an Greg
  4. Hey mate Just got back in with several legal kingys 60-65cm an I can tell you there is bugger all wind at the moment!!!!! But i reckon that will change by this arvo Dan an Greg
  5. Hey Mate Well done on the kingys pity about throwing back the legal 1's! If its any consolidation Ive done the same thing measuring a kingy against a knife or cutting board, an found out ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, jezzzz those kingys would have been legal, But solong as you had a good 1 Dan an Greg
  6. Ah cheers! Thought so, ie amount of line it could take but wasnt sure! This will be my inshore rig within 2-5KMS of the heads for anything bigger that wants to play. Gonna pair it up with a 15-24kg backbone Dan
  7. Sorry mate I dont follow you,, can you elaborate please? Dan
  8. Hey Looking at picking up a tld 20 2speed an was wondering if anyone knows of any issues or flaws with this reel?????? I did some research an couldnt find anything bad on them, an I know the tld originals are rock solid. cheers Dan
  9. Dicko Ok I fish outa 4.1M tinny, an have fished this spot in a 11ft tinny you should be rite depending upon your boat. Heading nth outa Clifton Garden hugging the coast, the drum same as the one in CG about 100M's off the naval wharf, an 50ms offshore...... This spot has been producing alot of rats for us of late but key factor is to be near this drum within the first 1-2hrs of light. Have a plastic in hand as well as baits down because as the sun comes up btwn 5.3-6.30am they will occasionally bubble for a min, an will sometimes hit a plastic. Other than that we lower our baits down, my prefered depth is deep 1M off bottom an other bait just outa eye sight by 1-2M. Whichever gets hit first I set both my riggs at that depth. Just use fresh squid strips 5-10cm long an you should be on for a few Also if you have a sounder an the conditions are rite,,,, but they are coming through infrequently try drifting in from the yellow pencil marker approx 200ms due nth of the drum. You can sometimes sound them this way Dan
  10. Hey Mate Thats where myself an greg have been catching all of our kingys at the moment, an have been for the last two weeks. The majority are rats but all good fun, an you will get the odd 70 cm plus kingy in amongst them if your lucky! As for bait, all we use is squid! An interesting thing that we have noticed is that they are taking small strip baits,,, or have been for us. We have had whole 15-30cm squid down an not a single run, plenty of bumps! BUTTTT on the flip side of strip baits, we have also had ONE big bait down, an for over 6 trips,, only once has been smashed by a good size kingy, would have gone 80cm easy if Greg didnt lose it beside the boat. . Ohhh an it was a fresh bait whole single everytime, not 1 squid an 6 trips lol Dan
  11. Well done guys an girls that was a abosolute brillant day . To those that ran this event you are the best, an to the sponsors awesome prizes!!!!!!! . Our day out was action packed! My Dad who has never experienced how hard a kingy goes, was very impressed, he was blooded at 7.30am near the drums at clifton on 2 seperate riggs,,,, WTH??? He was jumping sideways between the two screaming rods,, both fish landed with a bit of help! He loved every second off it. Total tally was 8-10 rats with a just keeper at 60cm! hmmmm kingy Nice to meet alot of other raiders who I recognised from previous trips out for kingys on the harb but never introduced myself to Again to those involved in yesterdays event,, my Father an deckie, owner of the boat were so pumped that before we boarded the boat at Clifton,,, I overhead them saying "You couldnt pay for a day like THAT" WELL DONE ALL Dan an Greg
  12. Robs right here,,,, myself an greg if we are going to fish clifton like to be anchored by 5.30am,,,,, that way u beat every1 else, get a nice sunrise, an about a hr later the kingys should bubble up. Hey squidboy Greg said next time you see him an robb, cmon over an say hello Dan an Greg
  13. That was US AKA Greg an Dan mate of Kingsrule
  14. All well rob! Those are the breaks Must admit with this weather where else, an what else would you want to be doing? Dan
  15. Welcome Dunno about the deep of the river but the majority is very narrow, an in a 30ft i dunno how quick you will be able to turn or manovuer a boat of that size in LCR just take care As for fish, the locals of Nth Ryde RSL, love a cool one swear by down the back of Nth Ryde RSL,,, but all Ive ever got is snaggeds, lol. You could get almost anything in there,,,,, bull mullet, big sharks, rays, HUGE eels,, bream, flathead,,,, an alot of others I cant think of right now. Hope you get a few The flats around figtree bridge at the bottom of LCR are producing bream an flathead I was told was in the "local barber" :-D
  16. Hey kevin I will remind greg about scales an setting his drag, was playin with his know o/h an had a metre kingy verified by kingrule onboard, an click the drag way too high,,,, pulled the hooks, an hearly the head of the kingy! ROFLMAO! Dan
  17. Was just wondering if anyone has tried holding a hooked kingy to try an bring others up???? On the several occasions when myself an greg have brought a hooked up kingy with followers, an dropped another bait down for the followers,,,,,, ITs been a bloody nightmare! Lines tangle, bustoffs, an the cream of the cake, not 1 kingy lost but TWO! Just wondering if anyone has tried it? Dan
  18. I took several course taught by Bill Gladstone whilst attending Newcastle Uni an if he was hard pressed to ID the shark it could have been severeal species. His knowledge is unbelievable but if he wasnt able to ID it I doubt any could (100%)! However over a beer with him "OFF" the record it would be interesting to see what he thought it was Dan
  19. Hey Never fished that area before buddy,,, despite numerous offers from (swanea_fisho). Perhaps drop Steve a PM he is a very nice guy an very well informed. He might not give you specifics,,, but he will definately point you in the right direction,,, an he always loves a chat with another raider Dan an Greg
  20. Hey Mate To answer your question on how to cook shovelnose. Fillet like a flathead an cook however you like,,, genereally add herbs an spices though, as by themselves they are a lil bland for my taste. They are great fish for your kids, as if you fillet them,,,, there is virtually no bones what-so ever Last one I took when I opened it up stank! And I learnt very quickly not to take em unless its in a VERYYYYYY VERY tidal system! Port Stephens has 100's of theses buggers an the japanese tourists love em Dan
  21. Hey We had have had 2-3 small sharks, surface near contarf just in the last month. Mind you, all were small approx 3-5ft. My brother Greg pretty much refuses to swim in the harb in any water deeper than 3ft, me I dont care but take pre-cautions. Ive seenen many, many good size 6-8ft sharks in sydney harbour over the years, but if you take care an cross ur fingers,,,, mmmaaybe u wont be that fatal statistic! Dan
  22. Dunno if its west of the bridge after several cold, icey BUT the wharf at greenwhich has produced 1 or two squid for me on more than a few occasions, but u gotta put up with the ferries Dan
