  1. Hey mate. If the boat seems in pretty good condition usually its two things in my experience.

The bungs. Even though its in, if you don't make sure you have a tight seal, you will get water going in and when you at the ramp and u do the bung, you would think you have a crack in the hull. Has happened many times to me. Make sure its sealed.

Second is the engine wiring boot like you mentioned. My old seafarer one was bad in terms of the placement of the boot and not being completely sealed. The new boats have some good rigging fitouts now, but the older ones might be more open.

  2. Every boat i have sold has been taken by the first person to see it. Clean it up well, detail it and write the ad well. I would never sell on botsales. Waaaat to expensive if you want more than $10k for your boat. They charge you according the the price of your boat. I alqays use the free tree service.

  3. I've been casually browsing for 6.5m alloy boats.

Best boat i've seen has been the Extreme boats from NZ - hefty price tag but they are seriously decked out.

A mate of mine is going to buy a trident in the next 12 months too, they aren't too bad feature wise.

Surtees look awesome, im just not sure on that beam. It may make the deck feel a bit crowded?

    Extreme do look sexy!

  4. Get's 4000 fish a year?

It looks tough to get a fishing spot. When I went driving I had a look where I would fish i suspect fish to be holding and din't really come across a spot.

Saw a youtube video with someone catching and made me want to try!

  5. Ok I know what you are talking about only because I read it on the other forum.

Couple of ways. Maybe your cover has been taken on and off many times and the people putting it back have missed the screw holes and created new ones or wider ones etc.

I suggest you either fill the holes up and screw it in again or try and get a bigger gauge screw in there.

  6. Been watching the footy show lately and I know its all about fun etc but when they went to the Blues camp and started asking questions about State of Origin - there is no way I would be mucking around if I took it seriously. You look at the greats, Ali, Kobe Bryant, Jordan (bball fan) you don't see them muck around until they win.

Just my 2c - different mindset.

  7. Hi there fishraiders,

I would like your suggestions for a 1998 90hp Johnson Ocean Runner replacement.

The old girl has treated me reasonably well, it has 360hrs on it. But I am considering a repower.

I am thinking of going another carbed 2 stroke as I have a feeling the initial purchase and running costs will prob never meet the purchase cost of a new DI or new 4 stroke.

What are your thoughts and why?

    Make model pros and cons.

    Cheers

    Please noone suggest parsun

    Hey mate!

I used to have a Venus myself but it was rated to 115HP. Had a Johnson 2stroke on the back. Everything was 2002. You are right they are a heavy boat. Seafarer were designed with a light motor at the back. A 4stroke on the back at max HP would probably make it lose a little balance I think.

I am going to get creamed for this, but I would stick to the etec 90HP. If you can get a plate to rate 115, go for it.

I now have the Seafarer Victory running a 225 Etec.

  8. G'day guys,

Just wondering if anyone can give me some insite as to weather lowrance with be at the Sydney boat show and if they will have any sales going.

I'm currently looking at getting a lowrance elite 7ti from bcf since they are on sale for $1229. Is bcf the best price around Sydney for lowrance at the moment?

Yes they will be there, they are always there but they don't sell it to the public. The other outlets do. A big boat dealer in sutherland area sells them quite a good price during the show.
